The shy Jiang Su, having a legitimate sick leave, spent two days at home without worrying about school, until the day of the monthly exam on Friday brought him back to reality.

Fourth Middle School, being an eccentric institution, had early self-study sessions even on the day of the monthly exam. So as always, Lin Wei left the house at 6:30 in the morning.

Interestingly enough, right as Lin Wei was closing her door, the door across from her opened, and out walked Jiang Su in a deep blue jacket.

The awkwardness set in the moment their eyes met, reminding Lin Wei of the last message thread they had on WeChat.

Her intended morning greeting lodged in her throat, refusing to come out.

Seeing Jiang Su coming her way with a blank expression and no attempt to start a conversation, Lin Wei decided not to bother with unnecessary pleasantries. She silent followed behind him, into the elevator.

Their trip down the building was filled with oppressive silence and an unbearable awkwardness.
