บท 68: Viridian Gym and Orre Region
Just over two months had passed since Death had spent that day with Ruby in Celadon City, and the show RWBY had just broadcasted the tenth chapter, which had gone and switched the focus from the previous eight chapters focus on Yang and Ruby to Focusing on Weiss Schnee.
Even though this episode hadn't gone into just how evil Jacques Schnee was, it had dropped a few hints, and it had certainly showed Weiss as a sad and very lonely girl who was neglected by her father. The Chapter had ended with Jacques Schnee missing Weiss's tenth birthday and, when confronted, admitting that he only married Weiss's mother for the family name, so that he could control the SDC.
Everything leading up to that moment mad him a very easy character to hate, but that just took the cake. It seemed as though Jacques Schnee rose overnight to be the most hated character in the show, and Weiss immediately garnered a lot more fans.
Many, after seeing the first chapter/trailers had thought she seemed cold and distant, and her appearance in from of a huge crowd like an idol didn't make her sympathetic overall, but starting to learn about her childhood was quickly changing that.
There were new debates going on all over the internet about which of the three girls shown so far was the most awesome, and now even Weiss was a contender after one episode of her backstory.
Well, apart from coping with the presumed death of Summer Rose and Yang learning that her mom abandoned her right after she was born, Yang and Ruby's childhoods were pretty happy, so the sad and lonely Schnee daughter was certainly a huge change, showing that not all parents were as amazing as Tai and Summer.
There was as much outrage in the public over how vile Jacques Schnee was as their was sadness when the death of Summer Rose was revealed. The chapters so far had been a bit of a roller coaster ride, admittedly, but it was generally considered a compelling show overall.

During this time, Death and Leaf had beaten the Cinnabar Gym leader and then spent the first month training before Leaf took on and defeated Giovanni, earning his badge. Death, though, decided to wait to challenge Giovanni until after Gary did, that way Mewtwo would 'escape.'
Death, of course, had no intention of allowing that. Today was the day and as expected he saw Gary enter the gym from the roof of the gym where he stood alongside Neo and Pyrrha, both being hidden by her semblance. Neo was also hiding more then 50 Master Balls that were being suspended in the air above the gym by Pyrrha, each one of them ready to capture Mewtwo as soon as it busted through the roof.
They waited patiently, and the moment that something broke through the roof it was bombarded by invisible master balls and one drew the Mewtwo inside of it before all of the Master Balls floated back towards them and Death put the empty ones into his inventory while the last that had just finished successfully capturing Mewtwo was sent to his Ranch Dimension, where he intended to release it later.
For now, though, he jumped through the new hole in the ceiling and landed on the gyms battlefield "Well, that was quite the spectacle" he chuckled.
Giovanni looked at Death with suspicion, then saw two more people descend through the ceiling as Death had, though much slower. Neo was using her Maiden state to float down wile Pyrrha was jut close enough to have Neo also include her in the slow and dramatic descent.
Once Neo and Pyrrha landed gently on the ground, they each moved to again stand on either side of Death, Pyrrha calling to her hands with her sword and shield while Neo casually twirled her parasol 'Hush' a bit.
"Are the weapons really necessary?" Giovanni asked.
"Well, I am here to challenge you to a gym battle, but when dealing with the head of Team Rocket I can't be too cautious." Death insisted with a smirk "You are my final gym challenge in Kanto. I have beaten all fourteen of the other Gym Leaders."
Giovanni frowned when he heard Death acknowledge that he was the head of Team Rocket "I don't know what you are talking about"
"The evidence I got from raiding all of your Team Rocket bases has already been handed to the Kanto and Johto Pokémon Leagues, so there is no point in denying it. The League will probably be here soon to apprehend you, so lets get out Pokémon battle over with." Death answered smugly.
Death wasn't going to allow Giovanni to flee, so he was forced into a Pokémon battle and Giovanni wasn't any slouch and actually managed to take down Mega Charizard X and Tyranitar, but Death's final Pokémon was Genesis, who he permitted to reveal its true form as a Mew, which took out the last 3 of Giovanni's Pokémon. It had been a 6 vs 6, but Death only needed to use three of his Pokémon.
Ash, who had arrived with Brock and Misty, and watched the battle from the point when Genesis was reveled to sweep the rest of Giovanni's team.
Scowling, Giovanni tossed a badge to Death, only to have Ash challenge him next to a gym battle. Death gave Giovanni a look that said he had to accept the battle and Death and his two wives moved aside to let Ash and Giovanni fight.
Rather then using his personal Pokémon as he had against Death, Giovanni used some gym Pokémon which were weaker then his own Pokémon, leading to Ash's victory in the end as the Elite Four came into the area of the battlefield "It looks like your escort to prison has arrived." Death said to Giovanni.
A frustrated Giovanni tossed his gym badge to Ash as Genesis, who was hovering near death and his wives, started giggling cutely.
"You have a Mew?" Misty suddenly asked, as she had been watching the battle and waited until now to ask that question.
"Genesis has been with me all along" Death insisted "The day I met you, Misty, you saw him, albeit he was disguised as a Kadabra at the time. We decided to hide his identity as a Mew until Team Rocket could be properly dismantled. Giovanni here was operating a vast criminal empire spanning all of Kanto and Johto from this gym, but now every last member of Team Rocket has been apprehended and will be getting their days in court. The courts in Kanto and Johto are going to be very busy for the next five or six months, I suspect"
"Wow, it seems you have been very busy lately, huh?" Brock asked, genuinely impressed "No wonder you have so many beautiful girlfriends and wives if you can take down all of Team Rocket so quickly."
Hearing brock say that actually made Misty blush and suddenly step on his food.
"Ow. Just telling the truth, Misty" Brock insisted, then looked at Pyrrha and Neo "Speaking of which, case and point." he chuckled.
"Dear, if we're done here, I am ready to return to Lyonesse." Pyrrha suggested to Death.
"Sure, you and Neo can go back ahead of me" Death agreed and opened a gate in space and Neo and Pyrrha soon passed through the gate, which he closed behind them as Ash came over to join him, Misty and Brock "Ash, now that you have 8 badged, are you heading back to Pallet Town to train there until the Pokémon League Tournament starts. It is still nearly a month and a half away, after all.
"Yeah, that's the plan" Ash agreed "I suppose you'll be training as well?"
"Yeah, I will be, among other things." Death chuckled "I just finished editing the second Volume of RWBY so that once the thirty episodes of volume one have all been played they can immediately start with the second volume.
"Well, I guess we can also get caught up once we get to Ash's place, and see what we missed." Misty agreed "It did look promising, with all of the heroines being girls" she seemed quite excited about that.
"Once volume two starts, you wont be able to watch the old volume one episodes online anymore, but the first volume will become available for purchase in all regions where movies or other RWBY paraphernalia are sold."
"If it is as good as I keep hearing I'll probably have to buy it" Misty agreed.
"That wont be necesary, Misty. I'll gift you a set of Volume one at least once the last episode airs. Can't risk the plot getting leaked early" he chuckled "We're friends after all."
Misty's cheeked pinkened "Th-thanks." she agreed, just deciding to accept his kindness, though feeling a bit odd as well.
Death recognized Misty's expression and it made him smile, it seemed to click to her, at least on some level, that she was experiencing a crush on him, but she still needed time, he supposed, to decide what she truly wanted "Well, good luck with your training and I'll see you at the Pokémon League, Ash." Death insisted before recalling Genesis to his Pokéball and teleporting to his ranch dimension and leaving them to make their own way to Pallet Town.
Pikachu was climbing up to sit on Ash's shoulder as Death was departing.

Upon arriving in his ranch dimension, Death called Mewtwo's master ball to him while turning into his original Nephilim form and summoning Dust and Jīnwū to his shoulders, and only then let the Pokémon out.
Mewtwo was initially furious but hesitated when he say Death 'Who are you?' he psychically asked.
"I am Death. I am one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, or at least that was my roll in the past. Now, I am sorta in retirement, you could say, visiting various worlds and taking out the trash, like Team Rocket." Death explained to Mewtwo "I showed you this form to let you know that I am not a human, but I do care about their kind, or at least the good ones. You, though, have only ever met the bad ones, so I worried that you might act rashly against all humans if I let you go after escaping from Giovanni. If you are willing, then I'd be happy to have you as a partner, but if you are not worthy, then you are welcome to stay in this place. The only humans capable of entering this dimension are the ones that I bring here, so you will never have to see another bad one in your life. But, if you are willing to join me, then you can help me to take down more bad humans like Team Rocket. They may be by far the minority of humans in this world, but there are still others for me to take down."
Mewtwo seemed to be strongly considering the offer, and Death took the momentary pause as an opportunity to recall Genesis out of his Pokéball.
The appearance of a Mew further surprised Mewtwo "This is my first Pokémon partner, Genesis. I'd like to give you a name as well, Mewtwo, if you don't mind."
'Very well. I'll join you' Mewtwo replied into his mind.
"And I grant you the name Revelation, or Rev for short" Death explained to Mewtwo/Rev "As Genesis is a word alluding to the beginning or the origin point of my adventure in this world, Revelation, or Rev, represents my hope for the future, for a better world that can be built here for both humans and Pokémon." he said this while Dust and Jīnwū disappeared and he was retaking his human form, feeling pretty damn happy. He had not expected Mewtwo to actually agree with his suggestion, but now he had gained another really powerful ally.
"Alright. The next group I'll be targeting with your help is called Team Snagem, and we'll be departing immediately for the Orre region.
