"No problem, I'm willing to join DC Company!"
Beck, thoroughly persuaded, agreed without hesitation.
He gripped Anton hand tightly, his face brimming with excitement as if he finally found his benefactor in life.
"By the way, I heard you have a team."
Anton, smiling, casually suggested, "Why don't you bring your team to our crew right away? Our VFX department could really use your technical support."
"Absolutely."
Beck responded firmly.
Anton and Beck then discussed both personal feelings and practical matters, clarifying the benefits and development opportunities Beck would receive upon joining the company. Beck, eager and excited, couldn't wait to resign from Stark Industries. Anton watched him leave with satisfaction.
With the addition of VFX master Quentin Beck, also known as Mysterio, DC Company was significantly strengthened.
Anton could now fully focus on producing films.
The productions of Cyborg, Superman, and Batman: The Dark Knight were now ensured higher quality and potentially shorter post-production times, promising quicker releases in theaters.
As dusk fell, Anton prepared to drive home, a feeling of unease lingering in his mind.
Just as he stepped out of the building, he saw Eddie and Phil driving their news van out of the underground parking lot.
Despite being the editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle, Eddie preferred to work as a frontline journalist in critical moments. Phil, of course, was his loyal sidekick.
"So late, what the big story?"
Anton instantly recognized that they were heading to cover breaking news and was curious.
"Anton!"
Eddie slammed on the brakes, urgently greeting him. "There trouble at Oscorp! A Lizardman is wreaking havoc in their building, and Spider-Man is fighting him!"
Phil, seated in the passenger seat, added, "Boss, this news is all over the city! Every reporter is heading there. The Daily Bugle can't lag behind."
"What? Spider-Man versus the Lizardman?"
Anton froze.
It didn't take much to piece together what had happened.
Dr. Connors had transformed into the Lizardman! This was Spider-Man debut battle.
"Want to join us?"
Eddie, seeing Anton reaction, opened the car door with a tendril of Venom extending from his shoulder, clearly signaling—
"No time to explain, get in!"
Inside Oscorp Tower
"Dr. Connors!"
Peter Parker, now Spider-Man, was anxiously locked in a fierce fight with the Lizardman. The battle was intense and evenly matched.
He had witnessed Connors transform into the Lizardman right before his eyes. The transformation had triggered uncontrollable rage, destructive impulses, and a deep hatred for humanity.
Peter understood that the genetic serum had affected Connors' sanity, inducing extreme and violent tendencies. He even exhibited anti-human sentiments.
Connors, now consumed by his belief in the superiority of lizard genetics, declared his intention to turn the entire world into Lizardmen, claiming it as the next step in human evolution.
"You're insane, Professor!"
Peter was heartbroken.
In his eyes, Connors had been a gentle, knowledgeable man.
"I should never have helped you with this experiment. This is partly my fault! I have to fix it."
Despite his pain, Peter resolved to take action. He gritted his teeth and charged forward, determined to subdue Connors.
However, Connors, as the Lizardman, was physically on par with Spider-Man. In fact, his initial strength exceeded Peter, who was still in his early stages of heroism.
Peter could only rely on his web-shooters and his Spidey sense to dodge attacks, using hit-and-run tactics to weaken Connors before attempting to overpower him.
But Peter had underestimated the challenge.
Crash!
Connors grabbed Peter webbing and flung him out of the window with a mighty swing.
Shatter!
Glass fragments flew as Peter was hurled from a height of over a hundred meters. Ignoring the pain, he twisted his body mid-air, shot a web to anchor himself to the building exterior, and finally stopped his fall.
"Huff, huff!"
Clinging to the building wall, Peter panted heavily, shaken but alive.
Swish!
A searchlight suddenly illuminated him.
Above, a police helicopter hovered, and Peter could hear an officer shouting over the rotor noise, "Don't shoot! It Spider-Man!"
Despite their disdain for vigilantes, the police recognized Spider-Man as an ally in this crisis.
"The Lizardman is still in Oscorp, somewhere above the 30th floor. Keep searching!"
Far below, an officer spotted Connors and alerted the helicopter crew.
Whoosh!
Connors leapt from Oscorp 30th floor.
"What?"
Peter eyes widened.
Connors used his claws to dig into the building glass wall, creating friction to slow his fall. At about 20 meters above the ground, he launched himself upward in a powerful leap, covering another 50 meters before landing heavily on the street below.
Boom!
The ground cracked under the impact, forming a deep crater. Decorative flowerbeds nearby exploded like geysers, scattering soil everywhere.
The chaos sent up a dust cloud, obscuring the police vision. But they weren't deterred.
"Open fire!"
An officer on the helicopter gave the order.
Rat-tat-tat!
The helicopter machine gun unleashed a torrent of bullets, tearing into the ground where Connors had landed.
But as the dust settled, Connors was nowhere to be seen.
"Where did he go?"
The officers were stunned.
From his vantage point, Peter squinted at the scene, deep in thought.
Meanwhile, Anton, who had just arrived, witnessed Connors' escape and felt a growing sense of anger.
His gaze shifted to Spider-Man clinging to the building wall. Then, his eyes caught the destruction caused by their fight—the most severe damage was near the "Limb Regeneration Technology" department, spanning three floors.
"Sh*t!"
Anton rarely cursed, but now he was furious, veins bulging on his forehead.
"They destroyed my filming area!"
The lab Anton had rented for Cyborg production was right above the "Limb Regeneration Technology" department.
In other words, Spider-Man and the Lizardman had completely wrecked his set, equipment, and props. This would undoubtedly delay Cyborg production and release.
Caught in the crossfire, Anton was livid.
"Damn it, I was going to let Spider-Man handle this for character development…"
He clenched his teeth, his anger boiling over.
"Forget it. I'll handle this myself!"
With that, he darted into a nearby alley, transformed into Batman, and slipped into the sewers, determined to confront the Lizardman.
"?"
Eddie and Phil exchanged puzzled looks, unsure of what had just happened.
But judging by Anton expression, the Lizardman had clearly enraged him.
Both men silently prayed for Connors, hoping his end wouldn't be too gruesome.
