46 gazed at him for a moment, his black eyes as deep and unfathomable as the depths of the sea. Having witnessed countless deaths throughout his long career, each more tragic than the last, this kind of scene hardly fazed him anymore. When you've been in this field long enough, even the most bitter separation would appear dull and tasteless. 

Then again, the human before him didn't even shed a single tear, yet he still managed to exude such a strong sense of desolation that the Heavens above seemed to weep along, accompanied by the howl of the wind and roar of thunder.

Considering their still incomplete deal and how the two of them could be considered acquaintances, 46 didn't leave as soon as he completed the task like he usually would. Instead he lingered around for a while longer, and after a brief contemplation, offered a sincere, "My deepest condolences."
