Chapter 1: A Stranger in Night City
The glow of Night City burned brighter than anything Leon Lizbeth had seen before. Towering skyscrapers stabbed the sky, their facades bathed in neon, while holographic advertisements flickered over the chaos below. Leon stood in an alley, his breath catching as the weight of his new reality hit him.
This wasn't home. Not anymore.
He looked down at his hands, flexing them experimentally. The faint tingling of energy coursed through his veins—a constant reminder of the Super Soldier Serum that had been forced upon him back on Earth. His body felt different now, unnaturally strong and unnervingly precise. But even with his newfound abilities, Leon couldn't shake the vulnerability of being a stranger in an unfamiliar and hostile world.
"Step one," he muttered to himself, "find some eddies."
Scene: First Glimpse of Lucy
The streets of Watson were alive with the cacophony of a world barely holding itself together. Leon wandered aimlessly, his sharp gaze taking in every detail—the desperation etched on people's faces, the hum of cyberware, and the undercurrent of danger that seemed to permeate the air.
It was then that he saw her.
The girl was perched on a metal railing outside a rickety ramen stand, her white hair glowing under the dim streetlights. She had a faraway look in her eyes, as though the chaos around her was nothing more than static. Leon couldn't explain why, but something about her pulled him in.
Before he could approach, a group of rough-looking scavengers sidled up to her, their voices low and threatening. Leon's instincts kicked in. His eyes—enhanced by the Emperor Eye—analyzed the scene instantly: three men, armed but sloppy. The angles of their weapons, their body language—it all painted a clear picture.
He stepped forward, his hand brushing the shuriken hidden in his jacket.
Chapter 2: An Uneasy Alliance
Leon sat across from Lucy in the dim light of an abandoned diner, the faint hum of a nearby generator the only sound. The scavs were dealt with, but the girl's icy demeanor remained.
"You didn't have to step in," Lucy said, her tone flat as she sipped on a cup of lukewarm soy-caf.
"Didn't seem like you had it under control," Leon replied, a smirk tugging at his lips.
Lucy's gaze sharpened, her white hair falling across her face. "I had it handled."
Leon raised his hands in mock surrender. "Sure. If 'handled' means letting them haul you off."
A tense silence hung between them before Lucy leaned back, her expression softening slightly. "Who are you, anyway?"
"Leon," he said simply. "And you?"
"Lucy."
Their eyes met, and for the first time, Leon saw something beneath her cold exterior—something fragile and deeply guarded. He didn't press further.
Scene: The First Mission
It was Lucy's idea to introduce him to Maine. She was cautious, wary of trusting strangers, but Leon had proven himself useful—if a little arrogant.
The meeting took place in a dingy warehouse on the outskirts of Santo Domingo. The air inside was thick with smoke and the smell of synthetic oil. Maine leaned against a stack of crates, his massive cybernetic arms glinting in the low light. The rest of the crew—Dorio, Rebecca, Pilar, Kiwi—watched from the sidelines, their expressions ranging from curious to skeptical.
"So, you're the guy Lucy's been talking about," Maine said, his voice a deep rumble.
Leon nodded, his posture relaxed but ready. "That's me."
Maine chuckled, a sound that was more intimidating than friendly. "You think you've got what it takes to run with us?"
Instead of answering, Leon reached for the sniper rifle resting on a nearby table. He examined it briefly before raising it, his Emperor Eye activating as he calculated the distance to a cracked pane of glass high in the rafters.
He pulled the trigger. The bullet ricocheted twice before shattering the glass.
Rebecca let out a low whistle. "Damn, choom's got some skills."
Maine grinned, clearly impressed. "Alright. Let's see how you handle yourself in the field."
