"This is no more impossible than clearing the Mortal Zodiac Temples was for us," I said, "less impossible, going by pure numbers. We'll be fine as long as we don't let our guards down." 

I pointedly refrained from coming out and saying anything to the effect that this would be easy. Surely, the Boatman was listening by now. 

Even though the bridge seemed sturdy to the point of being magically so, none of us dared run forward. "May I just say," said Jong, "if the Boatman really is listening, I'd like to thank him SO much for putting guard rails on this bridge. I'm not sure I'd be keeping cool if there weren't." 

"I know what you mean," said Jue Zhu, "even with the guard rails, a bad memory or two is springing to mind for me here…"
