บท 2: Chapter 2- Meet biker boy

"Qadira," My mother would call out every morning, "Get your nose out of those books, it's time to go…"

Today's calling was different, instead of her yelling at me to hop into her car I was called to catch a taxi with Zain.

I rushed out furious but knowing my mother well she would scold me for any question or ill-treatment directed towards Zain, so smiled instead and walked towards the motorbike parked outside…

"Where`s the taxi?"

"Get onto the bike Qadira…I'm sure you know well that this is how I go to school."

"Excuse me. Have you asked yourself about your temperament?

"You!

"Zain, top student and the most idolised teen in our district…you expect people to not say anything to me?

"Besides, we`re opponents in school…"

"First of all I heard none of that, secondly you`re making us late and thirdly I don't care," he said placing a helmet on my head. I frowned trying to remove it but he had locked it. He then took my backpack and placed it into a small boot-like compartment under the seat hopping onto his bike, after watching my mother make her way into the kitchen I hopped on as well, asking for him to hurry up. I asked for him to drop me outside of the school he did. I arrived 5 minutes late and as a crowd of females surrounded him for selfies and autographs he hit me with a smug grin before turning toward his fans. I was punished and arrived to class to find the boy in my seat. again. As I thought of my mom's wrath I sat behind him swallowing the anger I had brewing inside.

"I have a race this evening so tell my mom to please book my tutor for tonight…"

"Whatever," I replied

He pulled me by my collar standing in front of me, " Are you coming to my race?"

"You have enough girlfriends to cheer you on, you don't need my cheerleading," I said looking up at him

Certain that he was about to embarrass me he let go because a teacher walked past us. I tried to escape at that moment but he caught me again.

"Someone sounds desirous," he said grinning, "You better be there…"

"Okay fine, before you threaten me, and I am not jealous those girls don't even reach my level of beauty and intelligence."

"You look like a homeless rat."

"And you don`t?

"We have the same stylist remember..."

He flicked my forehead running away.

I'll get him back for that one.

After informing his mother of him wanting to attend his tutoring session later I grabbed the VIP ticket he had left me. Today I get to see the legendary stallion in action. I never missed any of his shows since he always promised not to annoy me for a day if I attended and trust me a day of peace is worth gold. I arrived at the sporty scenery, men dressed in their jumpsuits, attractive models on-site and a loud crowd of teenage girls.

The only underaged pupils were Zain and Zayd, his biggest competitor in the field. As I walked past the cheering crowd who glared at me for showing up at their idol's show, I stuck my tongue out at them before taking my seat.

This that I was watching was the real reason the ladies were obsessed with Zain. Besides him being extremely tall, handsome and intelligent he was the top track racer. The youngest as well to reach this level. This is why he was so admired. As I watched the men start their engines I cheered and snacked while jumping and yelling, for a moment the ladies watched in bafflement, I too was baffled by my behaviour. I thought I was doing well in showing that I hated him.

The smell of burning tires filled the air. Snacks, beer and other funny-looking candies mixed with this smell, and of course the Redbull each of Zain`s admirers were carrying. this with the screams, engine sounds and the screeching of every racers tyres is what made the scenery. While I admired everything nostalgic about the place, the siren rang and Zain was announced as the winner of the race. I jumped with the crowd singing along with them. joy. I felt so blessed to have been a close friend of his at that moment.

As he got of his motorbike to wave back at his fans, he removed his helmet brushed his hair back and then he turned towards me winking at me. I felt my heart sink. I felt submerged by his charm.

I hope these girls didn't notice it or they`d take it the wrong way. He had to stay for the interview but I decided to wait near the tire change station, as my mother clearly stated that I had to be home with him.

While waiting I was approached by the green-eyed Zayd, he wore his classic dimpled smile. his hair wet, and his jumpsuit compliment his well-built celestial body.

"You always wait for him…

"Aren't you that girl in school, Qadira…the smartest and prettiest..." he said running his hand through his hair. A gesture he and Zain seemed to have really enjoyed.

I smiled knowing well that those rumours had been around for a very long time and that they had bored me, but the way he said it ran chills up my spine. He then took my phone scanning my contact code before leaving.

What just happened I do not know, I also did not know why Zain was staring at me furiously.

"Why were you talking to him?" Zain asked.

"It was just a hi and bye," I said trying to lighten up the circumstance but he walked past me

I grabbed his arm furiously pouring the water onto him, "This was to refresh you and congratulate you but since you're being a prick it's better used to make you come back to your senses. I'll uber back home." I replied storming off.

There were occurrences when I didn't mind his petty childishness but when he blamed me for some nonsensical thing I did not do it infuriated me.

~

Later that evening after my math and tutoring class, I walked into the kitchen with my hair up and an avocado mask on. Zain snapping a pic laughed before being hunted down and beaten by me.

My mother walked in with her arms folded, "You guys are almost 17, you can't be fighting with each other and having one on top of the other," she said throwing a slipper at me

"He started…" I said in defiance

With a sharp, I don't want to hear it. I was banished to my room and forced to write an essay. An apology essay. Yes, that was how my mother disciplined me. As I sat at my desk cursing at Zain I received a text message from Zayd. He asked to meet up, for lunch…after considering how angry it made Zain I rejected the offer. He politely stated that he understood and that's where our conversation ended.

To our surprise…there was another boy who had a crowd around him the next day at school and it wasn't Zain this time…because Zain was standing next to me just as baffled.

"Looks like karma came a little early than expected," I said before being pushed aside by his lady friends.

I cursed at them kicking the air and then turned back to the man who had his crowd running in a different direction. He smiled introducing himself, "I know who you are..."

"Did you know that I'm the top art pupil?" he asked with a sinister gloat

Before I could respond Zain grabbed my other arm and for a minute I was their tug-of-war rope. Confused by their idiocy I pulled away punching both of them. One creepy green-eyed dude and the other was an annoying mosquito who always stole my spotlight.

I had a crowd of idiotic girls around me after that event, and to my relief, it was to enquire about the boys and not me eating a KFC burger for breakfast.
