บท 1: Kingdom of Sluagh

"Finally..." Blair smiled at the sight of the tall dark walls that eroded from the grassy ground. She pulled her white hood tighter over her head to keep herself dry as she trudged on through the thickening mud. Rain poured on her already drenched white bodysuit as she trudged to the guards that stood by the gate.

"Who goes there." A guard snapped, holding his spear tighter. He could make out someone coming closer, the flash of lightning illuminating her feminine silhouette for just a moment. She did not speak at first and the guard began to doubt that she had heard him.

The night stormed on above the kingdom of Sluagh. Wind howled outside the thick walls of the castle as the lord ate with his daughter. It was a peaceful night for the two of them. Their quiet chatter filled the large dining hall.

"Father, may we possibly go for a walk later? I know it rains but it tis quite delightful. Perfect weather in my eyes." The princess smiled softly at her father, the lord. He took a moment to consider then nodded.

"Oh I don't see why we wouldn't dear." The lord chuckled softly before finishing his food. He then watched his daughter's face go pale as her smile dropped. Someone banged on the door to the dining hall which cause her to jump, a soft squeak escaping her throat.

"You may enter!" The lord called, his old voice rung through the room. Long creaking could be heard as the door was pushed open.

A soaked guard stepped inside, bowing to his king. An annoyed scoff from the king quickly had him standing upright once more.

"You may speak." The king announced and the guard began.

"Your ma," the guard was cut off almost immediately by the king.

"Oh come over here! I can't hear well, you know this! Come! Come!" The king called. The guard hurried over to the king to continue what he was saying.

"Lord Blagden sir- hello your majesty," the guard gave a quick bow to the nervous princess before facing Lord Blagden once more. "We have brought someone to the dungeons. We assume she may be a spy." The guard explained. A long sigh escaped King Blagden's lips as he slowly rose to his feet, taking his cane that leaned against his chair.

"I'm sorry my dear but I don't believe I will be able to accompany you on our walk tonight, I must handle something." Blagden apologized while wrapping his thin arm around his daughter's shoulders. She nodded swiftly, leaning her head against his bony shoulder for a moment before he let go and shuffled towards the door, leaving her to finish her meal alone.

"Now sire, this one is a bit odd." The guard started as they walked through the long halls of the castle. Lord Blagden tilted his head toward him then motioned for him to go on.

"She put up no fight, she simply smiled and walked in with us. As if she was glad." The guard went on, grabbing a torch off the wall before yanking a heavy door open, holding it wide for his king to shuffle through.

"None at all? Like she wanted to be caught?" Blagden asked and the guard nodded, shutting the heavy wooden door behind them then quickening his pace to walk in front of Lord Blagden as the descending down a long flight of stone stairs. Blagden's cane made a soft clank sound each time the tip hit the floor that echoed through the stairwell the led down into the dark dungeon.

Young Blair could hear the sound all the way from her cell. A smile creeped across her lips as she sat patiently in her cold wet clothes. Her teeth chattered and her head hurt from the stench of something rotting away down here. She was almost sure she heard rats skitter by at one point but she wasn't too sure. It was too dark to see much of anything and the only light was the dim glow of the torch that slowly came into view at the end of the long hall. Blagden's cane rang like a bell throughout the dungeon and the soft scuffling tap of his shoes followed.

Two murmuring voices could be heard by the stairwell. They were just out of her view but her heart began to race. Blair could not tell if it was fear or excitement or just her body trying to circulate enough blood to keep her warm but she did her best to keep herself under control. As the light and the clank sound came closer her excitement grew as she new that she, Blair Ambers was about to meet the most feared lord in all of the lands. The one that no one in her own kingdom even dared to speak his name. The one known to be cruel and heartless. Stories of this ruler always consisted of blood and death. Not many believed that he was even human. Now she was about to be face to face with the one that was feared across the nine realms. Lord Blagden.
