Her hands were stained with his blood. The striking crimson hue sent her mind spiraling back to the night five years prior when he'd been struck by a car. This realization amplified her guilt; both times, he had suffered grievous harm in his efforts to save her. Why was Keyon so determined to protect her?

"Agreed," Keyon affirmed, nodding at her. As he swept her across the banquet hall, several bodyguards caught sight of them and hurried to intervene. Seeing Keyon so grievously wounded, they were overcome with guilt for their failure to protect him, each one apologizing profusely.
