Chapter 2: Entrance Exam I
A few thousand years ago, the entire world was conquered by a single empire, but as you can imagine, controlling the whole world is no simple task. So, the emperor at that time decided to divide his lands into four kingdoms, including his own. Each of these kingdoms would be ruled by people close to the emperor.
Try to memorize the names of these kingdoms and their rulers.
The Kingdom of Raiku was initially ruled by the emperor's younger sister. Currently, it is the kingdom with the greatest military power, although its technological advancements are of little interest.
The Kingdom of Keman was initially ruled by Eiji Date, the emperor's son-in-law, and now only his descendants can inherit the throne.
And finally, there's Deshret, the most technologically advanced kingdom. It is the fusion of the part of the kingdom that the emperor ruled and the part that Haël Nakamura, the emperor's younger brother, ruled.
As of today, the kings of the three kingdoms are:
Yuji Date and Claire Date, as the kings of Keman.
Shoji Nara and Tamara Nara, as the kings of Raiku.
And then there's me, as the king of Deshret. Unfortunately, I never found a queen.
I said this last part with a sense of depression hanging over me, which only grew larger with Izuru's mocking smile.
"You little brat, you'll also die alone, poor, and a virgin."
"Are your training sessions that bad to condemn me to live like this?"
"Don't involve my training in this."
"Well, now that you're calm, what good does knowing this do me?"
"Knowledge is power, Izuru, and knowing is never a waste."
"Seriously?"
"Do you want a sample?"
"Please, Your Majesty."
"In your world, there's a type of energy called Qi. It works similarly to the miasma we gods use, but it's more limited. The miasma of the gods allows us to do simple things like controlling the five elements to crazy things like changing reality."
"Like that anime about ninjas who control the five elements?"
"Yes, Izuru, almost like chakra, but I'd say it functions more like the cursed energy from that anime whose name I can never remember. I think it was called Cursed Womb or something like that."
"I know which one you mean."
"Right, every living being has Qi, but as far as I know, the last person capable of controlling Qi died 106 generations ago. He was an amazing human who was even able to understand how miasma worked and use it for light things like erasing the motives of souls."
"And how is it that in 106 generations, no human could learn about Qi?"
"Because no one wanted to listen to what someone without amok had to say."
"Was that man like me?"
Rain glanced at Izuru and then remembered: that boy didn't have amok either, and to make them even more similar, they both shared the same eye color.
A smile escaped Rain before he finally replied:
"Yes, he was quite similar to you."
"How cool, I resemble a legend."
"Will you settle for just resembling one?"
Izuru immediately caught what Rain meant, and his expression changed instantly. His eyes turned red again, and his face showed how determined he was to prove everyone who underestimated him wrong.
"I thought so. Come closer, Izuru."
Izuru obeyed the command of his new master, king, and kidnapper.
As he stood in front of him, Rain snapped his fingers, and another portal appeared.
"Where are we going?"
"I'm going to take care of my duties as a king and god before I can take care of you. Remember that you're my pastime, not my obligation. So, I'll take you to a place where I'm sure you can train well before you train with me."
"So first you kidnap me and then abandon me?"
"Something like that. Here."
With his miasma, he shaped a card with his signature to hand to Izuru.
"This will serve as your pass; now go, get stronger before I start having fun with you."
Izuru didn't look back, grabbed the card made by Rain, and stepped through the portal.
"Leave it to me, watch how a monster does it."
Izuru said as he walked and pointed to his back with his thumb.
Rain smiled maliciously and disappeared in a whirlwind of fire.
