บท 39: The New Director
Ethan grabbed Amelia's hand and walked to his Rolls-Royce. They got in the car and drove down to Chinchol Manor.
It was very complicated in Amelia's heart. Recently, she had learned much in the workplace. She didn't know whether Sophia would be able to live a happy and wonderful life that Amelia had never experienced.
But she believed that she could keep going with a strong will and with the help of the tough time that she had come through.
"Here we are."
Amelia got off the car after Ethan, "I'm Sophia now," she looked at herself and thought.
They walked into the hall of the Chinchol Manor and found that lots of people had already arrived. Ethan and Sophia had drawn much attention.
People wondered what kind of woman could attract Ethan and make him hold such a big party to celebrate.
They also felt it was a great honor to be invited to the party by the Grand Group's CEO.
"Is that the new director?"
"Yes. I heard that she studied aboard. She looks different."
"The CEO thinks highly of her. She must be smart and pretty. After all, Ethan holds the party for her."
Amelia walked through the crowd with Ethan. People were talking about her. They thought that she was brilliant and might have a relationship with Ethan.
"I feel that she looks like... Oh, no."
Bella mumbled to Charles and stared at Amelia and Ethan.
At that moment, Bella felt jealous and was upset. She thought that she could have a chance to encounter Ethan and made him fall in love with her, but she never expected Sophia's appearance. It would be much tougher then.
"Do you mean... She looks like Amelia?"
Charles also looked at Sophia all the time, and he realized she was strange. "She closely resembles Amelia," he thought.
"Yeah. But Amelia doesn't have Sophia's wisdom and temperament. It seems Sophia is prettier than Amelia."
Charles didn't know why he started to get nervous. He sighed, "Well, let's just believe they just looked like each other."
Ethan held Amelia's hand and walked to the stage. All the guests were looking at them.
Amelia smiled and gently looked at the audience. She held Ethan's arm and felt everything was new to her. She was full of curiosity.
"May I have your attention, please. Welcome to the party, my dear friends. Today, I want to introduce Sophia, the new director of the Grand Group. She had just come back from studying abroad. We graduated from the same college. In the future, you may have a collaboration with her. I hope you can get along with my new colleague."
Ethan gave the microphone to Amelia after his speaking. He looked at her with a gentle smile.
"Schoolmates? Thank god, I still have a chance," Bella thought.
"They graduated from the same college? Wow, it seems that she's a talented girl," people were talking about her.
"I'm Sophia. Thanks for your coming today. I'm very glad to join the Grand Group. I'm just so happy when Ethan invited me to be here. I hope I can collaborate with all you guys well in the future."
Amelia spoke gently but confidently. She looked like the kind of girl who grew up in a noble family and read a lot of books. Her movement was elegant and charming.
"Ms. Sophia, where are you from? And will you develop a relationship with Mr. Frost?"
It caused a stir, and that was exactly the question everyone wanted to know the answer to.
They wanted to know if it was possible that Sophia became Mrs. Frost, so they would know how they collaborated with her.
"Thanks for your caring about me. I guess now the most important thing for me is working. Ethan was an outstanding businessman. I don't know what will happen in the future. But I'm glad that I've met him and we studied for three years together."
"Three years? That's long enough,"
Bella thought and felt jealous.
"Ms. Sophia, are you native? You haven't answered the question."
Ethan looked at her carefully. Amelia remembered the data that Ethan gave to her and felt not good.
"I'm an orphan... And it's Ethan's father who finances me all the time. So... I really appreciate that the Frost family could help me, and contributing my intelligence to the company is my way to express my gratitude."
Amelia was sentimental at that moment. Ethan turned around and put his hand on her shoulder to comfort her. He smiled at her and Amelia nodded quietly.
Ethan took over the microphone and looked at the audience. He sighed and his eyes expressed a little misery.
"Well, it's Sophia's private life. We should respect her privacy. Okay, now let's just enjoy the time."
After Ethan's speaking, he brought Sophia to meet the top executives.
"I guess they are much closer. The Frost family financed her all the time? She lost her parents, so is it possible that they regard her as a family member?"
Bella discussed Sophia with Charles. She didn't like her because she was too close to Ethan.
"No, I don't think they are in a relationship. They studied together for three years. If they fell in love, they must have engaged now."
Bella looked at Charles surprisingly. It seemed that she had hope again.
"So..."
"Whatever... At least Amelia is no longer here."
"Dad, you think too much. Amelia has been burned to death. Haven't you watched the report? It said that a woman lived alone and a fire was caused by the gas explosion while cooking. They found a corpse on the scene. It was around twenty. I'm sure she had died. I've seen it myself."
Bella remembered what happened then. Amelia was in the room, shouting and screaming. She didn't have a chance to live from that explosion.
Charles was relieved and nodded with a smile, "She must have died. I think too much."
Amelia talked elegantly to the top executives with Ethan. She was confident and they all knew that she was an ambitious woman.
Charles smiled and thought if Amelia had Sophia's ability and intelligence, she would not end up so miserably.
"Do you need a rest?"
Ethan and Amelia found a place to sit down. Amelia shook her head.
"Did I behave well?"
