"To the present"
Bireh showed the same depth of sorrow he used to behold. He knew Junya was yearning to meet his unborn child but he cannot allow such man to do the same as how Pomegranate killed Esperanza and Nodiah. It's been more than a decade to the point where the kids grew up. When he saw them by the entrance he gladly volunteered as their overseer. When Junya came in to report in behalf of the fallen spring he was excited to hear from them. But his heart as a husband and father did not falter. He still hope that even for a glance he will meet his family. He will be home. Bireh understand where Junya was coming. He got tempted to do the same. That is why he had to shake him and allowd him to be reminded how things fell apart.
