The couple visited the elderly man daily– Bringing him nourishing foods, water basins for self maintenance, and opening the windows to freshen the room. Occasionally, Bayar and Oyuna came by to help in any way they could.

The rabbit shifter held high hopes that with care, the elderly man would come about. Since entering the palace, Chang faded in and out of his mind and was mostly bedridden.

The healers alluded to his frail state due to exhaustion. From the blisters on his feet to his weathered skin, the doctors were able to denote that Chang had traveled long distances by walking for some time now. Given his elevated age, it took a heavy toll on Chang's health. 

Dehydration and lack of nutrition from the Mongolian deserts greatly contributed to his weakened form.
