บท 41: FIRE SNAKE!!
"Qinglin, you can't trust people so easily in the future. I'm really worried that someone devious and full of lies might trick you," Xie Tianxiao said with a concerned look.
"Mm, Qinglin won't. I'll only listen to Lord Tianxiao from now on," Qinglin responded obediently.
Over the past few months, Qinglin had grown comfortable around Xie Tianxiao. She no longer feared him, and her way of addressing him had even changed from simply "lord" to "Lord Tianxiao." Qinglin also understood that Xie Tianxiao genuinely cared for her.
He had taught her about the continent's cultivation system and helped her progress from a powerless ordinary girl to a one-star Dou Practitioner. Even in daily life, he never treated her like a mere servant. Because of all this, Qinglin had become more and more reliant on and fond of Xie Tianxiao.
"Is that so?" Xie Tianxiao felt a bit embarrassed as he saw her bright, innocent eyes. He rubbed his forehead. While he genuinely liked Qinglin and had no intention of letting her fall into Xiao Yan's hands, her quick trust in him after only a few months left him at a loss for words.
Qinglin noticed his expression and, after thinking for a moment, said softly, "Um… Lord Tianxiao, I think… we should search for the Heavenly Flame now."
"You're right, but there's no need to search for it—it's right below us," Xie Tianxiao replied, snapping out of his thoughts. He pointed to the ground beneath them.
Since arriving, he had already sensed the powerful aura of the Green Lotus Core Flame emanating from below.
"But, Lord Tianxiao, Captain Xiao and the others have left. No one is here to help us dig for it. How will we get down there to find the Heavenly Flame?" Qinglin asked.
"Heh… Have you forgotten how we got here?" Xie Tianxiao smiled.
"How we got here?" Qinglin thought for a moment. She recalled that Xie Tianxiao had taken her hand, and after a brief moment of darkness, they had suddenly appeared at their current location. Beyond that, she had no idea how they had travelled.
"The reason we could arrive here instantly is because I used spatial power," Xie Tianxiao explained with a smile.
"Spatial power?" Qinglin looked confused. It was clearly the first time she had heard of such a term.
"That's right. It's a technique one can only master after reaching the level of Dou venerate."
"When you become stronger, you'll be able to use it too," Xie Tianxiao said.
"Oh…" Qinglin nodded, still looking a little puzzled.
Seeing her confusion, Xie Tianxiao decided not to explain further. Instead, he gently took her small hand. Qinglin blushed slightly but didn't pull away.
Their bodies gradually distorted and disappeared from the desert, reappearing inside a massive underground cavern filled with molten lava, radiating intense heat.
"This… this is terrifying," Qinglin gasped, instinctively grabbing onto Xie Tianxiao's sleeve in fear.
Sensing her tension, Xie Tianxiao chuckled and patted her head. "Don't be afraid. The sight you're seeing is due to the Heavenly Flame hidden below. It's what caused this cavern to look like this."
"Also, there's a little creature down there. You should be able to sense it."
As he spoke, he pointed towards the churning lava below.
"A little creature?" Qinglin looked puzzled, casting a glance at Xie Tianxiao before turning her gaze to the endless expanse of fiery red lava.
After a moment, her eyes widened. "Lord Tianxiao! I think… there's something alive down in the lava!"
"Although its presence is faint, I can sense it. It feels strong…"
Her green eyes locked onto a specific area of the lava, glowing faintly as if they could pierce through the molten depths to see the mysterious creature hidden below.
"You're right," Xie Tianxiao smiled. "It's a fourth-tier magical beast called the Two-Headed Fire Spirit Serpent."
"A fourth-tier magical beast!" Qinglin gasped in shock. "Lord Tianxiao, are you going to kill it?"
"No. Do you remember what I told you about your eyes" Xie Tianxiao asked, looking at Qinglin.
"Yes, I remember. But… it's a fourth-tier beast. Can I really do it? Will it cause trouble for you, Lord Tianxiao?" Qinglin asked hesitantly.
Xie Tianxiao had previously explained that Qinglin possessed the special eyes which gave her the ability to control serpent-like magical beasts. She understood that he wanted her to control the serpent instead of killing it.
Xie Tianxiao smiled and said reassuringly, "Of course it won't be a problem. Even though you're just a beginner at the Dou Practitioner level, controlling a small fourth-tier Fire Spirit Serpent will be no trouble for you."With a wave of his hand, Xie Tianxiao summoned the serpent from the lava. A massive, two-headed snake emerged, its body immobilized as it was dragged out of the molten pool and placed before them.
Hissss!
The Two-Headed Fire Spirit Serpent let out a piercing shriek, but it couldn't move. Its four large eyes stared unblinkingly at Xie Tianxiao and Qinglin.
"It's all yours, Qinglin. I've restrained it so it won't struggle. Give it a try," Xie Tianxiao encouraged.
Qinglin nodded, her gaze meeting the serpent's eyes as she focused on establishing a connection with it.

After a long pause, just as Xie Tianxiao was about to ask if she needed help, Qinglin's eyes began to glow with a strange green light. The pupils in her eyes shifted, transforming into three delicate, green flowers.
As the eerie green light radiated from her pupils, it enveloped the Fire Spirit Serpent. The serpent's large eyes, locked in a gaze with Qinglin, suddenly showed signs of fear, confusion, and awe, as if it had fallen into a trance.
The green light moved slowly over the serpent's body, finally stopping between the two heads. There, the light began to shrink, growing smaller and smaller until it was only the size of a palm. As the light diminished, two small green flowers bloomed on the foreheads of the serpent's two heads.
With the appearance of the flowers, the light faded, and Qinglin's pupils returned to their normal green hue.
But controlling the beast had taken its toll on her. Qinglin's body swayed, her eyelids drooping as she looked like she was about to faint.
