Flipping through the records of the Mo Clan's decades of research on the transplantation of magical beast limbs, Mo Yu couldn't help but frown.
Initially, he thought that the Mo Clan was just a bunch of madmen, but after seeing their research, he found that the transplantation techniques for magical beast limbs actually had some merit.
In some ways, their methods resembled those of Orochimaru from the world of Naruto—twisted and extreme, but for a clan like the Mo Clan, lacking strong bloodlines or powerful backing, it was a unique approach.
After all, on the Dou Qi Continent, there are very few individuals with the innate talent and exceptional luck like the main characters. Most people are just ordinary beings.
As he read through the transplantation manual, Mo Yu quickly identified two significant weaknesses in the process of transplanting magical beast limbs.
The first issue was aesthetics. Human limbs and magical beast limbs differ greatly in size and appearance. For instance, Mo Cheng's "Mountain-Crushing Arm," while powerful, was hideously ugly.
The second, and most fatal flaw, was that in gaining the strength of a magical beast limb, one would also be influenced by the beast's nature. Over time, this could cause the person to lose their humanity and become a mindless beast.
Thus, the Mo Clan's transplantation technique wasn't as miraculous as it seemed; instead, it came with numerous risks.
Of course, with Mo Yu's resources, he didn't need to rely on such methods to gain power.
After reading through the transplantation manual, Mo Yu lost interest and turned his attention to a nearby glowing barrier.
"Hmm?"
Scanning the area under the barrier cautiously, Mo Yu suddenly let out a soft sound of surprise. He noticed that faint traces of spatial energy seemed to surround the barrier.
"This barrier must have been set up by Mo Cheng, and it contains traces of spatial power. As expected of the Mo Clan, they managed to employ such methods," said Ye Fan, who had also noticed the unusual nature of the barrier, frowning.
Spatial power is something that only Dou Zong experts can begin to master. In the current Jia Ma Empire, almost no one has control over such power.
However, aside from Dou Zong experts, certain special objects can contain traces of spatial power. If these objects are modified, they can be used in practical applications.
It seemed that the Mo Clan had managed to obtain an object infused with spatial power and used it to create this barrier.
Mo Yu nodded slightly and, with a flick of his finger, conjured a thread of crimson thunder at his fingertip, gently touching it against the barrier.
Zzzt…
Upon contact, the barrier rippled, and waves of energy spread out from the point of contact. Soon, the space around the barrier began to distort slightly.
Seeing this, Mo Yu smirked. Fortunately, this spatial power wasn't truly from a Dou Zong; otherwise, even the Thunder Soul wouldn't be able to do anything.
This made Mo Yu even more curious about what lay within. For the Mo Clan to guard it so carefully, it surely wasn't something ordinary.
After about two minutes, the spatial power within the barrier finally dissipated under the slow erosion of the Thunder Soul. As the lightning faded, two wooden boxes beneath the barrier came into Mo Yu's view.
Seeing the two wooden boxes, Mo Yu and Ye Fan exchanged a glance, then opened them one by one.
Opening the first box, they found a perfectly preserved, massive beast eye inside. It emitted a mysterious and eerie aura, glowing with a golden light, about the size of a fist. Although it lay there quietly, it seemed almost alive, staring directly at Mo Yu and Ye Fan.
Being watched by such an object, even Mo Yu couldn't help but feel a chill down his spine.
"What a terrifying beast eye." After a few moments, calming himself, Mo Yu opened the second box, revealing another golden beast eye. With one on the left and one on the right, they formed a matching pair.
"This is one of the Mo Clan's treasures? It seems even more formidable than the 'Mountain-Crushing Arm' of that fifth-tier Flaming Mountain-Crushing Rhinoceros," Ye Fan remarked, clearly astonished.
Although the origins of the golden beast eyes were unknown, the intimidating aura they emitted far surpassed that of the Mountain-Crushing Arm. Their original owner must have been a sixth-tier magical beast—equivalent to a human Dou Huang expert.
Realizing this, Ye Fan felt a bit relieved. Fortunately, no one in the Mo Clan had transplanted these beast eyes; otherwise, they might have turned the tables.
However, Mo Yu knew that the Mo Clan couldn't have transplanted the golden beast eyes even if they wanted to. Aside from other factors, the beast eyes were larger than a human fist, making them fundamentally unsuitable.
That was why Mo Cheng had set his sights on Qing Lin. The power of the Triple Jade-Green Snake Flower Pupils was one reason, but more importantly, Qing Lin was human, making her eyes easier to transplant.
Staring at the wooden boxes before him, Mo Yu stroked his chin, lost in thought.
Although he didn't know where the Mo Clan had obtained the golden beast eyes, their careful preservation indicated that they were extremely valuable.
From Mo Yu's perspective, the beast eyes contained tremendous power, likely originating from a rare and powerful magical beast clan with unique ocular abilities.
Mo Yu had no interest in transplanting these golden beast eyes for himself, but he had noticed earlier with the half-wolf, half-snake magical beast that the transplantation technique could also be applied to magical beasts.
Though he didn't know the true origin of the golden beast eyes or their potential abilities, it would be best to store them for now.
The Dou Qi Continent is vast, and from Mo Yu's experience, even if these eyes couldn't match the Triple Jade-Green Snake Flower Pupils, they undoubtedly concealed some significant secrets. If they could be used to benefit Zi Huo, it might be a great option.
The Amethyst Winged Lion Clan, though powerful, was nothing special when compared to the regions of Central Plains. Zi Huo's growth potential was likely capped at the seventh tier. However, if it could acquire some additional resources, it might be able to break through this limit in the future.
It's well known that for a magical beast to break through its own ceiling is far harder than for a human. Without a fortuitous encounter, even with Mo Yu's help, it wouldn't be easy.
After devouring the mysterious beast's bloodline back in the small valley, Zi Huo's only change was advancing a tier, highlighting how difficult magical beast evolution is. If it were easier, the three great magical beast clans wouldn't have remained supreme for so long.
"These golden beast eyes come as a pair, so I won't compete for them with young brother Mo Yu," Ye Fan said with a smile, noticing Mo Yu's interest in the treasure. "The rewards my Ye Clan has already gained are more than sufficient, so you can take the eyes."
Understanding Ye Fan's intentions, Mo Yu smiled back and replied, "Then I'll remember this favor from Grand Elder Ye."
With that, Mo Yu stashed the two wooden boxes into his storage ring. Once Zi Huo reaches the fifth tier and gains its own intelligence, he could then ask if it would like to use the eyes.
Even though he was Zi Huo's master, Mo Yu preferred to discuss such matters rather than forcing the magical beast to transplant its eyes...
