The mood today: Anxious.
Dear Diary,
Something absolutely horrible happened today!
I can't even find the right words to describe the extent of the tragedy that befell us. And you know, at the beginning of the day, nothing foreshadowed trouble.
So, today was an ordinary day. Starlight and I were sorting the ancient scrolls into a system of star categories that I had personally created, and it was very efficient and amazing. Too bad only Princess Celestia could appreciate it, which isn't surprising, she's one of the smartest and wisest ponies I know.
Ah, yes, back to the subject.
After we'd finished sorting the scrolls, Spike flew into the library to report the strange thing that had started occurring with the map. At the same time, he was trying to prove that, despite his being in the throne room, he was in no way to blame. I decided to find out what was wrong, so Starlight and I immediately went to the throne room.
When I saw what had become of the map, I froze in place, unable to say anything. Thankfully, Spike brought me up to speed so I could get a better look.
The map looked as if it had frozen, and its projections were sort of cut off, and shifted to the side. This reminds me of interference in magical communication at a distance. Only, not just a picture of the interlocutor was frozen, but a WHOLE MAGICAL ARTIFACT!!!
Oh, I think I yelled it out loud, and Spike came running over to find out what was wrong. A little embarrassing, he-he.
As for the map, well... To tell you the truth, I'm not exactly sure on what I should do, because it would be a stupid idea to use magic mindlessly. One thing I do know though, is that I'll be spending sleepless nights in the library department of ancient and magical manuscripts.

The mood today: Despair.
Dear Diary,
Starlight, Spike, and I have spent the last five days searching for any information regarding the sudden breakdown of the friendship map. Unfortunately, the information we could find was incredibly scarce.
The only thing that helps us at least somewhat in our search is the recently discovered symbols on the friendship map in an ancient language, which we cannot read because we do not have the means to translate it. Only one book has been found containing some of these characters, and even that one is not complete.
We could not translate almost any word completely, so the meaning of the resulting text is very amphibolic, and does not lend itself to any particular interpretation. Although, we did manage to translate one word in its entirety, and that was 'Waiting'.
It's hard to say if that's the key to this task but summing it all up from the outside, 'waiting' is all we can do at the moment.
Starlight and Spike are exhausted, and I've sent them to rest. However, I'm not going to stop. I owe it to myself to figure out the cause of the sudden malfunction, and how to fix it. Who knows what problems this could lead to in the future if the situation is not rectified as soon as possible.

The mood today: Weary.
Dear Diary,
Today again, I could not find any clues concerning the map. My search for new books to translate the characters was also unsuccessful. To be honest, I was beginning to despair as I had spent too many days without rest.
I made the decision not to stay up all night tonight to attend Pinkie's party in honor of her sister Maude's move to Ponyville and, according to Spike, her buddy Alan, after listening to Spike and Starlight.
Although I'm exhausted, I hope that this event will allow me to relax a little. Even I realize that long, sleepless searches only make me less productive, and distractions are definitely good for me. Luckily, Pinkie Pie parties always change your mood by 180 degrees.
P.S. - It's interesting to see a pony who has successfully befriended Maude. I still get a slight tension when interacting with her. I hope I can learn some tricks from him in interacting with Maude.

The date: July 30, 2002 since the coronation of Princess Celestia and Luna.
The mood today: Relieved and full of interest.
Dear Diary,
THE MAP IS FINALLY WORKING AGAIN!!!
And all thanks to the new stallion that moved to Ponyville with Maude - Alan. I really didn't expect to find a solution to our problem outside the library, but life is unpredictable as usual, and it really was a valuable lesson for me.
To be more specific, it was helped by a strange magical spark that... well... slipped between Alan and me (as weird as that sounds). That event was weird enough to start a conversation between us, and oh Celestia, that conversation is still blowing my mind! Alan and Maude were able to develop magical artifacts that allow any pony to use magic, regardless of race!
I have to admit, it will be a milestone in history when it's made public. And who knows, maybe I'll be the one to write a book about it, with Alan and Maude's permission of course.
The next day, even more incredible events occurred that led to the full restoration of the map. Alan was summoned by the tree of harmony through the map, and went to speak to her.
Yes, the tree turned out to be a 'SHE', and now she even had a name - Dryana.
(Picture ->)
As it turned out, Dryana noticed an anomaly that made our future too volatile. That's why she called Alan to help.
Why him? I don't know, but after talking to him, and learning about his accomplishments and his non-insignificant intelligence, I'm no longer surprised. I'm even glad we have someone like him on our side. It gives me hope for a 'happy ending,' as Rarity likes to say.
After they upgraded their bracelets, Starlight and I also made the decision to begin teaching him magic, so we began our first lesson. I can't remember the last time I was this enthusiastic about a magic class. Something as 'out of the ordinary' as an Earth pony possessing magic doesn't happen very often.
Alan and Maud grasped all the knowledge almost on the fly but the deeper tasks were more problematic for them, but that's more because they're Earth ponies, so their progress is truly incredible!
I was especially struck by Maude. Her talent for magic is something else! If she was a Unicorn from birth, I'd have a hard time imagining the heights she could achieve if she dedicated her life to magic instead of rocks. Although, according to her words, it has more to do with her compatibility with stones than with her talent in magic, but as a more experienced magician, I can see much more clearly that her speed in mastering subtle manipulations clearly exceeds the standards.
Overall, the class was extremely interesting, and I also learned a lot. I also enjoyed teaching, so I started to have thoughts of starting a school, but I'll put that idea off for the distant future. The frustrating thing was that near the end of class I fell asleep, and like Starlight said, she had to carry me to my room. I'm a little embarrassed but I'm glad I have such a good friend.
P.S. - I hope I can get to know Alan a little better. I'm embarrassed to admit it, but he's the first stallion I've ever really been interested in talking to. If it weren't for the 'curse' of the Alicorns, who knows, maybe I'd... Ah, never mind.

The date: July 31, 2002 since the coronation of Princess Celestia and Luna.
The mood today: Curious
Dear Diary,
Another unforeseen event occurred today!
The map finally summoned two ponies again to solve the friendship problem. And the most amazing thing was that it was Alan and Starlight.
As soon as Starlight heard about it, she was overjoyed, though she tried to hide it. Honestly, she looked a little amused. Even Spike decided to tease her a little.
Since Alan was new here, I quickly emailed him to explain what was going on with his cutie mark, and to ask him to come to the castle as soon as possible. I went off on my own to look for information about the place the map indicated, since I'd never been to those places. There wasn't much information, but I'm sure that even these bits of knowledge were useful.
After Alan came to the castle, and I told him and Starlight everything I'd found, they went off on their friendship mission. I stayed in the castle with Maude, and... I don't even know how to put it.
So... she told me a lot of... very embarrassing things, yeah. Things I'm not sure I can sleep in peace now that I know about them. And it started off innocently. She talked about how she'd met Alan, what they'd talked about, and what a great stallion he was in general. Even then I thought it was a bit of a strange topic for us to talk about, but considering Maud's character, I was glad even for such an unusual topic, because at least she and I could really talk to each other, and for a long time.
The strangest/embarrassing thing came later when Maude shared how she and Alan became a couple some time later. It was really surprising and unexpected but with all that said... I felt something uncomfortable. The thought that Alan had already met his special pony left an unpleasant residue on my mind. It really wasn't easy to meet someone so interesting to talk to, especially for me. But as soon as Maude told me that Pinkie Pie had later joined their relationship, my mind literally EXPLODED!
This is so wrong! A relationship with more than one pony! It's even stranger and more incomprehensible when you consider that herds have been gone for over a thousand and a half years! I mean, they're literally condemning themselves to dissatisfaction! How did they even agree to such a thing?
Honestly, I didn't expect such a thing. Not from Maude, let alone Pinkie Pie. I mean, I get that they're really good sisters who are willing to share anything with each other... BUT NOT THAT MUCH, RIGHT?
…
The strangest thing about this situation was that, as of late, Pinkie Pie had become surprisingly happier, and less hyperactive. It was as if some of her energy was constantly going somewhere. And looking at Maude, she also looks more... radiant, with happiness or something? As much as possible for Maude's face of course. There's not a hint of irritation from dissatisfaction, or any dissatisfaction in them.
Given the 'problem' of Equestria's stallions, this is highly suspicious. Maybe Pinkie hasn't gotten as far with Alan as Maude yet? But then what is all her... energy used for...?
Ugh, it's so weird to lead a reflection on this topic! I've made up my mind! Tomorrow I'll call Maude and Pinkie over and ask them about their... their progress in the bedroom, for scientific purposes, of course... Yes!

The date: August 1, 2002 since the coronation of Princess Celestia and Luna.
The mood today: Excited.
Dear Diary,
I invited Pinkie and Maude to ask around, and I can't believe what I was able to learn from them, because it can change absolutely everything.
TWO WORDS.
'ALL NIGHT!'
HE CAN DO IT ALL HAY'ING NIGHT LONG!!!
Oh stars, if it's really true, it's no wonder they agreed to this relationship. I'm sure just about any mare would have agreed to it.
The most amazing thing is that Maud and Pinkie were clearly hinting that I should join their gathering herd too, and oh holy Celestia, I was really thinking about it! Because let's face it, if anyone can have a herd, it's the stallion that can keep that herd happy, and there is no greater happiness for a mare than sexual contentment.
This is especially true of alicorns as if we get even a little excited, it will be almost impossible to calm down, and no stallion in Equestria can help with this, and therefore this condition will torment us for a long time until the painful itching subsides, until a new moment of our slackness and excitement.
It is not for nothing that Celestia and Luna have nicknamed this phenomenon 'The curse of the Alicorns'. We constantly have to keep ourselves under control and our thoughts and emotions in check, otherwise it can lead to unfortunate consequences. Like Nightmare Moon for example. Not that it was the cause of her appearance, but it certainly contributed, since in such an irritated state, negative emotions are eager to get out.
I'm still young, and I haven't been an Alicorn for very long but I'm already starting to feel the effects of this 'curse,' so I'm learning to control my urges. For that reason, I even asked Alan to teach me his version of meditation. Honestly, I'm a little embarrassed to admit it, but I really want to try to accept the Pie sisters' undisguised invitation. To pass up something like that would be the height of stupidity. I'm willing to bet my princess title that even Celestia and Luna might heavily consider it.
I have to wait for Alan to get back, and then I'll be able to take my cue from the situation. I'm still uncomfortable with the whole thing.
P.S. - I think I'll add a protection spell to the pages of the last couple of days so that neither Spike nor anyone else reads it. I would definitely burn up in embarrassment if anyone reads it. I'm much freer to express my thoughts in my diary after all.
