In the dou di continent where power ranking began to dou disciples, dou practitioner, dou master, dou grandmaster, dou spirit, dou king, dou emperor, dou ancestor, dou zun/venerate, half saint and finally the highest one could possibly advance is dou saint.

Xiao shen and xun-er began to flirt in front of the clan member making them infuriated while gu yuan only smiled seeing her daughter happy. She did not want her to be used for her clan in gaining the ancient tomb but the elders and grand elder had force him to do it.

While he grimace of his past, the dou disciple finally arrive nervously looking at the important people around him. He quickly greeted them in utmost respect while gaze on xiao shen and xun-er surprise to see a guest. Xiao shen stood up from where he was and observe the dou disciple.
"Hmmm? Good you pick a fine selection, if he become a dou saint as I said then he shall come with me and act as a guardian for my xiao clan family."
"You quite confident? If it does not work or killed this child, are you willing to bet your xiao clan life!?"
Giving an empty threat consider they couldn't go there without the other ancient clan interfering. They had a treaty made by the old ancient expert that all of the ancient clan won't fight each other.
The air became heavy as the dou saint and half saint felt death itself had manifestated. Xiao shen did not take it lightly when they dare threaten his family who he hold dear.

Yet compare to the nirvana flames then it would just be bonfire comparing to the sun.

"I-Impossible! D-Don't tell me you have all the ancient tou she ancient god's jade!?"

Everyone grimaced knowing that xiao shen every words was the utmost truth. The said person grinned seeing their despair and regrets. Even if he become their in-laws none of them would have his favor beside saving them in dire situations.
They could try to beg for xiao shen to give them some benefit but nothing would move him unless xun-er did the request. Not that xun-er would do so.
"Now come here my new guardian you become my xiao clan protected when I'm absent."
"Forgive me but who are you?"
"Me? I will be your new master, call me xiao shen. You have been selected in testing this pills that allowed a dou disciple such as yourself to becoming a dou saint without drawback!"
The person couldn't believe what he had just heard. Him, A mere dou disciple becoming a dou saint was to good to be true.

Xiao shen only smiled, he had long seen the person's true nature was righteous and kind that do not have the arrogance of a spoiled brat. The only thing he is missing is experience and proper training.

The gu clan choices the weakness member of their clan in order to not lose a more useful clansmen. It was laughable decision that benefited xiao shen.
He took one of the pills then gave it to dou disciple who was reluctant at first but looked at his elder who only weakly nodded.
He took the pill swallowing it waiting for a reaction, the dou disciple felt refreshing feeling like floating in the vast see or witnessing something majestic.
The dou qi in the surrounding was being absorb by the dou disciple who rapidly increases in stages. Every expert coughs out blood from what they had witnessed.
There are no doubt that the dou disciple have become not only a dou saint but a 9th star dou saint that only took ten breaths!
Their common sense was shattered and began to doubt if their power was even real or the efforts they spent cultivation was worth something.
All of them took hundreds of years to just reach their power. Every single one of them felt that they wasted their time if they could do things easier.
Xiao shen grinned seeing their ego being demolished. The newly dou saint open his eyes then observe his new power with utter shock. He quickly looked at xiao shen then without hesitation kneeled down while cupping his fist.
"This one greet master!"
"Good! Oh I almost forgot but what is your name?"
"This one is called gu lin."
"Good! Now you all witness the Nine Heavenly pill does anyone of you still question my qualification for xun-er hand in marriage!?"
He voiced echoed within the hall as none had dared to even breathe. They were all terrified that someone was capable of acquiring such heaven-defying pills.
"Now you have witnessed my son-in-law capability then I shall say it! I give my blessing, xiao shen."
"Thank you, father-in-law but I'm only willing to give five pills as punishment for offending me."
They wanted to refute but was too afraid of losing his trust in them. It was enough a punishment after destroying their pride.
"Then I shall take my leave and I wish the next time we visit that you give has little courtesy."
All of them was ashamed of their action. How can they become so blinded to not see the treasure in front of them.
After he gave the pills, xiao shen gestures for gu lin to follow as they left the humiliated elders and grand elders. Xun-er's father only shook their head from their arrogance.
Gu lin took his parent with him to xiao clan surprising them greatly and thankful of xiao shen swearing their loyalty. He accepted them and went back to xiao clan.
