The Sylphide show I put up for Wei was so greatly done, I attracted the Opéra of Paris teacher and my only spectator, Wei Xiaojian. This one found me extra is a more... personal way.
I shook my thought out of my head. I shouldn't think about this. We had a mission to accomplish, and I couldn't let this little incident ruin my whole life.
Wei and I leaned against the windows of the bus stop, waiting to go to Francis Chauvel's house, for real this time.
Wei Xiaojian watched intently the opérette, a joyful smile curling up his pink lips. He looked like a child lusting after a pastry shop.
He should think about something else. He 'cute girl' didn't even exist after all. I tried to change the subject.
"Poor Mr. Chauvel. He doesn't know his life is ending today."
He took his time to register my words as if my professional question was drowned in the sea of thoughts for a certain masked ballet dancer.
"You're way too sentimental," he had the nerve to say, "That guy is probably a useless old man. We're not shooting toddlers, don't worry. We have a work ethic."
I raised my brow in confusion. He seriously thought that was going to make me feel better?
He looked at me for a little while again before resuming his daydreams about me in a tutu.
Forget about her! Goddamn!
I sighed in pure annoyance.
He licked his lower lip, smudging the beautiful color adorning his pretty mouth. He realized what he was doing and stopped immediately before taking a lipstick out of his pocket. I wondered what I was doing in his dreams to make him do that. Wei put in back on his lips and caught me watching him, "Curious?"
I blushed a little, embarrassed at being caught. Then, I thought that this could be a good subject change, "Yeah, I am. You're not a performing artist, but you're always so flashy. When I see you next to Boss, I can't notice her makeup anymore."
He closed the lid in a 'click', "I am a performing artist. Have you already gone to a circus?"
I shook my head. No, I didn't.
"Really? I should bring you to a circus one day. I'll only need to do this once because you'll remember it all your life. That was the message we wanted to convey with our flashy outfits."
"What about now? You still look enamored with that fashion style, even if you're not in the Tai clan anymore."
"Let's just say it's aesthetically pleasing," he blew me a kiss, "Am I right?"
I froze on the spot. Did that mean he was flirting? Or knowing that I was the masked dancer? I blushed in embarrassment again, "That's huh... Yeah. It's pretty."
He laughed, making fun of my 'sentimentalism'. It was an annoying sight, but at least, I was happy he didn't find me out.
The bus interrupted us and prompted us to get on it. As soon as Jieung-yong and David saw us, they came near us, "Perfect timing !"
Jieung-yong handed over a plastic bag illustrated with the shop's logo. Wei and I looked at each other before looking at the two strange boys.
"Phones. The best of the best. Just for you," He then gave us a big fat smile.
Wei pointed at the bag, "Don't tell me it's the new ones?"
"Yup, and it's all for you guys. Come on. Why are you making that face? Weren't you all about friendships earlier?"
"I don't know, you seem to be the type to forget your own mom's birthday," Wei chuckled.
For once, he didn't clap back, letting me discover the contents of the bag in peace. Inside, two smartphones with name stamps on them. The black one was for me, and the hot pink one was for Wei.
Ah. That's why he didn't say anything earlier. He wanted to let the surprise reveal itself.
Wei sighed, "Really, guys? Still tripping about gay clowns?"
Jieung-yong and David laughed so loudly the other passengers threw angry glances at them.
Meanwhile, I was bathing in confusion, "Sorry, I don't understand. Flashy clown, yeah. But gay? Is it because of his never-ending smile?"
The three of them stared at each other. Jieung-yong whispered, "Someone overprotected that kid. He never heard of...?"
"A gay person is a homosexual, Song-ho," Wei said.
The realization hit me like a light bulb, "Ah!" Like Henriette! "Wait a minute. You can't be gay, you like girls."
