บท 6: 06 - Go back

I ran on the lawn. The adrenaline pushed me further and gave me the courage to run for my life as I turned my head around.

A handful of attackers with those deadly weapons chased after me.

I turned my head towards the running group as often as I could, but, among them, I couldn't discern Jieung-yong running for his life too. Dammit! What was he doing?

"Come back here!" An agent shouted.

The sounds of their footsteps on the frozen lawn sped up.

No way I was going back and get killed.

"Let me get out of this shitty place!" I shouted.

"Shi...Shitty place? Our Boss's refuge?" Another voice commented.

After hearing the worst insult they could hear about their home, they shot bullets at me.

Sometimes I should just seal my lips with tape.

I sped up the pace, praying for having a bit more strength. The Japanese who fled before me had a steady pace. I joined him.

I succeeded, but when he saw me, he hit me with his shoulder, "Get out, they will find me!"

"Don't think of you alone!"

"We're dying. I must make a choice. It's inevitable. My life is of the utmost importance...." He stopped talking without warning. His eyes went up then he fell to the ground, unmoving, his temple dirtying the floor with blood.

A corpse. He died because I joined him. But if I didn't, then Jieung-yong would be...

"I'm sorry," I said. As if he could hear me.

Holding on to that noble thought, I ran as far as possible.

A small and black fence became clearer and clearer. With my eyes, I recognized the shape of a door, screaming for me to open it. The Wonderland was behind that last obstacle.

I jumped on it and shook the fence, but it was impossible to open. So I contracted my arms and legs muscles to climb it. The door was full of little blades. Bad idea.

The murderers' steps came closer to me.

"I trying to flee from my country, and here I am, in the same situation," I said, as I turned to take a look at the assassins.

How could this happen? Here, no one was throwing bombs and riding a helicopter for me.

Now, there were only agents in tuxedos and the hard fence behind my back. My mind gave up for a long time but my hand was still searching for something. As if I could open the portal at the last moment.

I touched a colder surface with an opening in the center. Disconcerted, I turned around.

It was a pass. The door will open with a pass.

I put my brain to work, "A pass a pass, Who could have it..."

I remembered one of the agents' words they told me. He said 'our Boss'.

Whom could that be? It's not like I was stuck in a company with photos of their dear leader everywhere, so how could I know? No, I couldn't give up. Not when I was so close to open the gate to the Wonderland that was Paris. I focused on every inch of my memories, trying to guess who the Boss could be. Could it be the Jaguar? He was the only one slaughtering us with cold steel. This level of precision could only be reached by a higher hierarchy, right? He wasn't the only one, though.

The only authority figure, with a clean appearance and a nightmarish aura, came to my mind.

The Pilot.

She was so powerful that she didn't even have to dirty her own hands. There was no doubt. It was her

If I stole her pass, I could embrace freedom.

"You'll regret your words." One of the agents held his arms toward me and aimed at me with his canon. His five other companions pointed at me too.

I looked at the top of the door above me. Climbing the fence despite the wounds would do nothing more than slowing me.

The pass was inside the building. Inside Hell itself. If I wanted to live, I would have to charge for the first time.

The first one shot at me.

I raced toward the bullet. The golden ammo came closer to my nose, between my eyes. I avoided its deadly kiss throwing myself on the ground, then I pushed my attackers. The time they get up together, I had the time to run further. They gave me my advance.

I entered the white building again, not to run away anymore, but to find the master pass.
