บท 10: first daY

We all stood in awe just staring at the academy until the shinigami ushered us to follow them

"The other recruitments are already inside. Although you passed the recruitment exam, there are still a few more tests needed to ensure you enter the right class"

The shinigami said as he opened the entrance door; it was white with golden yellow floors, me and everyone else stayed a few steps behind as he walked through the hall until stopping at a door; he knocked and waited for a few seconds until they opened it

The person who opened the door was a student of the academy, he was dressed in the academy's uniform which consisted of a blue shitagi (undershirt), a white kosode (shirt) with blue stripes, and blue hakama (trousers) with white socks and sandals. The shinigami again told us to follow him into the room so we did as he said

As I entered the room, I expected it to be a bit dark, but it was just like the hallway the floors and walls were the same except for its size, and it was filled with other recruits just sitting down in a hall-like auditorium, on the stage we saw an old man, the shinigami told us to sit; I followed katamuku and sat down next to him. When everyone was done sitting down, the old man spoke.

"Now that everyone's here I can begin "... the old man said as he paused for a while

"I am the principle of this academy, you can call me principle guru I've been the principal of this establishment for 200 years, I was once a lieutenant to the great captain unohana of division 4 but since I felt my abilities could no longer be of use, I left and settled down here as a principle....now that I am done with my introductions I shall now inform you all of what we shall be doing "

I sighed internally; it seems unohana is captain of Division 4 so it must be at least a few years before cannon time,' wait I'm pretty sure she was at least the same age as Yamamoto so this could be hundreds of years before cannon, but even so, I'd be ok since reishi allows soul reapers to age slowly'

Guru, the principal, began speaking again. " you should all be taking a test to see how strong your spiritual pressure is "

'Huh, didn't we already do this? I thought to myself.

"Some of you here may be wondering if this is the same test as the one you previously took, although similar it is quite different, in this test you'll be putting reishi into a crystal ball and it'll determine if you have either a low or high reishi level, it will be categorized in 6 ranks, basic, average, elite, shinigami, high-level shinigami, and lieutenant level, those are the si ranks it'll be identified on, there are 2 more tests but your examiners will be explaining it to you, your shinigami guards will now bring you into the testing site "

Everyone stood up as they began following their shinigami, ours went back into the hall so we followed, after a minute of walking he opened up a door and told us to stay in a line, the middle-aged men entered first, I was last in line behind katamuku

"Hey… ryo what ranking do you think ill get"

I wasn't sure, so I just answered "hmm probably shinigami level"

"Well, why do you say that?"

"You already stated beforehand that only shinigami could sense you with your technique, so I'm guessing you're probably at that level of rietsu"

Katamuku smiled for a bit "you're really smart ryo"

I didn't answer, a few minutes later the middle-aged man got out of the room he looked discouraged so I knew he probably got a low score, he went on the opposite side of us since he had already done the test, the next person who entered was one of the average-looking guys, again he came out a few minutes later he had the same reaction as the middle-aged man as he went behind him, next after he was the other mediocre man who again came out disappointed

Next, it was one of the twins his name was daki, although they looked identical and even had the same clothes I could still tell them apart due to my great senses, daki came out smiling while going in line behind the previous test-takers, 'it seems he got a high score now I know for sure I shouldn't underestimate them, after daki, his twin brother baki entered same as his brother he came out looking pleased with himself, after that, it was the flirtatious women turn, I didn't really see anything interesting about her besides her looks but she still might be strong,

As she got out, she seemed ok with her score. Next, it was katamuku's turn. Before he went, he said.

"Wish me luck"

"Good luck"

I waited a few minutes, and he got out giving me a thumbs up and a smile as he went to the other side, finally it was my turn as I entered the room I saw that the person who was this tests supervisor was a student of this school, instead of the blue in the student's clothes hers was replaced with red, she spoke

"I'm aware the principal already explained the first test, so please put your hands on top of this crystal ball'" she said as she pointed to the one in the middle of the other three ones I put my hands on top of it,

"Now, release as much of your reishi as you can"

I laughed internally, I knew better than to do that considering last time even without trying to release too much I broke the other crystal ball, this time I tried putting in even less energy, I was dumbfounded at how easy it was this time 'it seems my control over reishi got even better in only a few hours, is it because I found out how katamuki technique worked so now I have a better understanding of reishi' I stopped putting out reishi after a few minutes

I looked at the instructor she looked shocked "oh H-wow your reishi is at high shinigami level that's great" I breathed a sigh of relief I was glad it wasn't at the lieutenant level

"Now you'll move the one before the ball you used since he didn't explain this part, this ball is to test your willpower, lasting one to 3 seconds is average lasting 4-6 seconds is good lasting 7-9 is elite this test only has 3 rankings so lasting higher than 8 seconds will still put you at the elite"

I then proceeded to put my hands on the crystal ball, I felt a huge jolt, I could see how this sort of pain might hurt someone but barely even blinked, I fought 2 shinigami before and I had huge Injuries to show for it the only reason I survived was due to za healing me and my newfound healing ability this was practically nothing to me; I stayed there for over 20 seconds until I saw how shocked she looked, so I took my hands off and feigned that it hurt.

"Whatttt, 23 seconds when I did this I only lasted 5 seconds!! "

I had to think of something fast "huh.. well it's because I have this condition where I have a high pain tolerance so that's probably why"

She immediately regained her composure " oh, so that's why, anyway let's begin the last test, for this last one it'll test to see if you have the potential to awaken your zanpaktou this isn't measured by rank if it shines bright enough you have the potential to awaken it, since your more than likely from the districts below here you probably don't know what that is but, it's a shinigami's sword, you'll learn more about that in your classes"

I held my hand on top of the last crystal ball

"This is different from the rest of this one. Just relax and breathe out and focus on only this crystal ball"

I closed my eyes this time and began clearing my mind it was quite similar to when I was awakening my ability to use reishi only this time I had no doubts in my mind and it was far easier to clear it I opened my eyes, only to see that it was lighting up, I looked at the instructor who had a hint of disappointment in her eyes

'no this can't be why isn't it shining!!!' I screamed internally, 'if I can't awaken my zanpaktou then how will I reach this world's peak,' I was beginning to get mad 'IF I CAN'T GET YOU TO LIGHT UP BY BEING NICE THEN I'LL JUST FORCE IT!!' finally the crystal ball began to glow brightly it shined up the whole room it even began to crack, I heard the shinigami telling everyone else outside to get away, he came inside the room and was awed by the bright light

The crystal glass began cracking onto it exploded into pieces the shinigami, and the instructor dodged while I just stood there with a crazy look in my eyes 'if this world won't allow me to become the strongest then I'll just have to force it ' my mindset and goals became even stronger

After a few seconds, the shinigami and instructor stood up

The instructor spoke first "N-no way he broke it, what kind of crazy potential is this "

The shinigami looked like he couldn't breathe. "only lieutenants and captains were able to break this"

I first settled my happiness before looking back at them and saying,

"So do I pass"

*A FEW MINUTES LATER

After finally finishing the test and having to deal with how shocked the instructor and shinigami were I finally left the room, all the previous test takers looked at me, although they didn't see me break the crystal ball, they still noticed the light coming out, I walked and settled behind katamuku who asked

"Ryo, what was that noise, and light"

I decided to not answer "it's a secret"

Beforehand I already asked the shinigami and instructor if they could just lie and not answer when the others asked. As the shinigami left the room, the others looked at him hoping for an answer but he only said,

"Sorry for the disturbance everyone, an accident occurred. Now follow me, it's time to get your pictures taken"

As we walked katamuku tried making conversation with me but I just ignored it, even the others kept looking back at me, after a bit we reached another room this time there were other recruitments there we went behind them as they left with their pictures on an I. D it took around 30 minutes we all got our pictures and, the shinigami wasn't with us anymore and a student-directed us to different dorms based on our scores on the test

The first stop was in a small hallway. The student ushered the middle-aged man and the 2 other men into a room.

"This is now your dorm, your academy uniforms will arrive tomorrow and a student guide will show you your schedule, your roommates shall be arriving soon"

After that we went back and headed up a few stairs, this time it was the girl's stop, the hallway of the dorms was in much better condition than the previous men's 'it seems that the higher grade you get the better our dorm will be ' this time the man didn't open the door since he was a male and wasn't allowed into a woman's dorm, he stated the same thing he told the man before

Lastly, it was me, katamuku, and the twins left. The student guide went even farther up a stair. He stopped at a hallway that was the best out of the ones we've seen. He pointed the twins into a door.

"Since you two are twins and scored similarly in the exam, you will both be roommates., our student guide and clothes will be here tomorrow "

At the next door, he told katamuku to enter and told him the same thing as before, finally; it was my turn. He went further down the halls and opened up a door for me.

"This is your dorm. You will be receiving a roommate tomorrow and your uniform and a student guide to show you your classes"

I immediately went inside and laid down on top of the bunk bed. 'finally some sleep' I was exhausted so many things had happened today, I closed my eyes and began to sleep
