Ellie gazed at the notification letter in her hand.

Grand Duke Cassius planned to visit Duke Ashford's mansion in the evening to discuss their wedding date.

Ellie was uncertain how to behave in front of Cassius.

Their last meeting hadn't gone well. Cassius looked extremely angry when they discussed the contract.

"Be yourself as usual. Don't panic," she reassured herself.

Ellie observed Amber reclining on her stomach while reading a book by the fireplace, on the carpet.

Her feet fidgeted as her hands propped up her chin.

Ellie repeatedly urged her to sit on the couch, but Amber never complied, eventually causing Ellie to give up.

The girl she had seen all this time didn't resemble someone who had gone through a horrifying incident.

Instead, Amber didn't even appear human. She seemed more like a puppet.

Perhaps her deep-seated trauma had rendered her numb, seldom revealing any expressions.
