Jareth's demeanor had taken a sudden shift. He folded his arms, and his nonchalance was almost instantly replaced with a cold, menacing aura. Not far from him, Renna stood at a distance, her posture unchanged, with a devilish smile still playing on her lips as though she were savoring the unfolding chaos.

"Hey, brat, where do you think you're going?" Jareth demanded.

Kaleb felt his jaw tighten, the muscles in his neck stiffening at the sound of the word brat.

He had managed to tolerate being called a kid by Victor; after all, he was still only just twenty, and the old brute looked to be in his forties; on top of that, he knew the man, if only for a short while. But being called a brat? Now that was something he had no stomach for.

But, despite the irritation burning within him, he kept his composure, his gaze staying fixed on Cassie as he tried to dissuade her.

"You can't just come with me," he said, his tone as firm as it could be.
