"Dara, wake up honey." A voice came into Dara's ear. Dara found herself on the bed. Her clothes were changed and dried. Ellen was knocking on the door to wake Dara up. Dara got up and opened the door.
"Honey, why did you lock the door?" Ellen asked.
"I…I don't remember." Dara lied while rubbing her eye.
"Don't you have school today sweetheart?"
"Oh! I'm sorry I couldn't get up."
"Be quick because I think you're getting late."
"Mom I'll be up in a minute." Dara exclaimed while rushing towards the bathroom. She took a quick shower and dried herself. She got ready and rushed upstairs.
"Dara come to eat." Greg called her as she passed the dining room.
She walked back, "Morning Dad!"
"Morning sweetie. Won't you have your breakfast?"
"I'll grab something on my way to school. I'm really getting late right now."
"Okay. Make it sure you don't skip your breakfast else your day will be a headache."
"Yes dad I know." She went and hugged her father good bye. "Good bye mother." she uttered in a loud voice while leaving the house.
One her way to school she called Wade, "Morning vampy!"
"Good morning wolfie!" he replied.
"You reached school yet?"
"Not yet. I caught someone very beautiful on my way, just following her right now."
Dara knew he was talking about her. She turned around and saw Wade standing at a distance. "You're such a stalker." Dara chuckled on the phone.
"Oh is it so?" Wade smirked on the phone while coming towards her. Dara walked to him too.
"Stalker." she hugged him.
"More like a lover." he hugged her back.
A car stopped by them both. They both got out of each other's hold. It was William and his three friends.
"Looks like you've got new company." William uttered from the car.
"Why do you care?" Dara exclaimed.
"I've honestly loved you from my heart." William uttered.
Dara held Wade's hand and started to walk, "Let's go Wade."
William got out from the car and came after Dara. "Dara listen!" he fiercely held Dara's hand.
"Back off William!" Wade pushed William and he fell down on the ground. Wade fiercely said, "Stay the fuck away from her."
William angrily looked at Dara and then at Wade.
Wade held Dara's shoulder and they both started to walk. William got up from the ground and went back in his car.
"You don't have to worry about him." Wade said to Dara.
At school it was announced that the spring ball was coming up on Saturday and the ball's king and queen would be selected.
"William is the only guy who wins the king crown every year." Wade chuckled.
"Why so?" Dara asked.
"I don't know. Everyone votes for him I think."
"Do you wish to get the crown?"
"Dara I don't go to the balls or parties. I'm not interested in such stuff. I never went to any spring ball."
"Well this time you will go and you're going with me."
"We could have some alone time under the starry sky instead of going to some stupid ball."
"We're going to the ball and we're also signing up for the king and queen."
"Dara I…"
"We're going. That's all I know." Dara held Wade's hand and pulled him with her towards the king and queen signup table.
"Hey there! We would like to sign up for the king and queen." Dara spoke to the girl at the table.
"Oh my!" the girl exclaimed as soon as she looked up, "Are you signing up too Charles?"
"Well yes he is." Dara told.
Wade stood quiet.
"I can't believe this." The girl said while giving them the signup forms, "Do fill these forms."
Wade held Dara's arms and took her a bit away from the table. "Dara I don't want to do this."
"Trust me Wade you'll love it." Dara said while kissing on his cheek. "Now come." They both went back to the table. This time on the table, there were more four girls with the first girl who was there before.
All five of them introduced themselves to Dara. "I'm Dara." Dara shook hands with them.
"So Charles, we heard you're coming to the spring ball and above that you're signing up for the king, is it true?" one of the girl asked.
Wade didn't bother her much. "Yeah." he told while filling up the form.
More girls started to gather there. Wade started to feel uncomfortable. After filling his form he said to Dara, "I'll be outside."
As soon as Wade went outside, girls started to ask questions from Dara. "So is he actually dating you?" one of the girls asked.
"We've been together since childhood." Dara told.
"Then what was all that with William?" another girl asked.
Dara looked at her and ignored her question. She went outside and started to find Wade.
"Booo!" Wade tried to scare her and shook her from behind.
"Aaaaah I'm scared." Dara laughed.
Wade looked at her and started walking further. Dara went after him.
"You haven't changed a bit." Dara hugged him from behind, "You know you don't scare me Wade. I can't believe this. It feels like our childhood days when you used to scare me and I used to laugh and then you used to get angry on me and walk away."
Wade turned around and held Dara from her neck and pushed her to the wall. He pulled off his mask. His sharp scary teeth could be easily seen. There was a lot of anger in his eyes. He looked fierce. Dara got scared.
"Wa…Wade." She tried to speak up.
Wade laughed loudly, "You should have seen the look on your face cookie. Oh my!"
Dara kept stood looking at him.
"Dara you're so funny." he continued laughing.
"That wasn't funny." Dara uttered in a low scared tone.
Wade put his mask back on quickly so that no one could see his face. He went to Dara and hugged her tight, "You know I'd never be like that with you."
"You actually scared me."
"I know and that was so funny." Wade smirked.
"No that wasn't!" Dara slightly hit him.
On their way back home, Dara suddenly remembered about the diary his Grandfather mentioned.
"Wade my Granddad before his death mentioned some kind of diary he really wanted me to read."
"What was that about?" Wade inspected.
"I don't know. I haven't read it yet. Granddad told me that it belonged to my great grandfather in which he had told his story. What if we read that diary, we'll get to know why I'm a werewolf. What if there are answers in that book."
They both reached Dara's house. Wade met Dara's parents. They had a good meal together. While Wade was busy talking with Dara's parents, Dara went to her Grandfather's room and searched for the diary. She found a very old diary in the drawer in the closet. She took it out. She put it in her bag.
"Mom we're going out for a walk." Dara said to her mother.
"Okay dear but make sure to return back home before sunset." Ellen said.
"Yes Mom. Good bye."
Wade and Dara left the house. They both went to their special place; the giant rock.
"I don't know why but I still love this place a lot." Dara expressed.
"This place has always been special for me." Wade uttered.
They both sat on the rock and opened the diary. They both read the diary. It was told in the diary that the queen of werewolves fell in love with a human and because of that person, she allowed the people live with them and the vampires and she ensured human's safety. Even though werewolves and the vampires were against queen's decision, she still married that man. Human civilization started to grow in the island. Werewolves and the vampires were bound to their places but still they obeyed their queen.
"Queen Eve." Wade uttered, "She was cursed that she would never die, that she shall actually die every day by seeing her people fighting and dying."
"Cursed by whom?" Dara asked.
"By one of the vampire whom she ordered to kill because he disobeyed the rules and attacked your grandfather."
"So great grandfather died because of a vampire?"
"Yeah and from that day, there's a war between werewolves and vampires. Vampires and werewolves used to live together but after that incident, they became each other's biggest enemies but both respect the rules of the queen."
"It means she's still under the curse."
"No one has ever seen her since then. Vampires live eternally but not werewolves. "
"But the other part of the curse seems true. You told me that the werewolves and the vampires are still enemies."
"I don't know. I don't think so. It's been more than thousand years."
"Is this why I turned to be a werewolf because my great grandmother was one of them?"
"Hmmm…I think so."
"We should find Queen Eve."
"She's dead Dara. What are you talking about?"
"Can I have her picture or something?"
"There were no cameras thousands of years ago." Wade laughed.
Dara held Wade's hand, "Please Wade. If the Queen was my Grandmother then it makes me a princess and a princess has her duties and responsibilities."
"Dara you sound funny." Wade laughed.
"Huh I liked Charles more. He was always serious in stuff."
"Hello! I'm the same person here."
"Wade please I want you to understand. I'm a werewolf for a reason I think. Grandfather before dying told me that this island is my responsibility now. These are all my people Wade. I need your help."
"I'm always here for you Dara. You don't have to ask for my help because you know I'm here for you." Wade held her face, "Tell me what you want me to do."
"I don't want you to believe that the Queen is still alive but at least believe in me."
"I believe no one but you cookie."
They both hugged.
