บท 142: Stepping Back

He struggled up to his feet. Safira offered him a hand, which he gladly took. She was the only one he trusted to help. Pain shot through the base of his foot to his calf. He could barely put any pressure on it.

"Let me get you the wheelchair-"

"No!" Damien growled.

Seth took a step back with his head low, feeling the full fury of Damien's wrath.

Safira tightened her grip on his hand, "You can do this, I'm sure of it."

With her vote of confidence, Damien's expression softened a little. He carefully straightened his back and took another step. One foot in front of the other. Soon, it got easier.

Damien had sweat trickling down his forehead. Safira wanted to help him, but she stopped herself from doing so. She knew this was something he had to do on his own.
