บท 10: HE LOOKS AT ME LIKE I AM HIS WHOLE WORLD

As an eighteen-year-old, it's shameful to even admit that I have never had friends, let alone be in school.

I am an illiterate and if matters could get any worse, Liam thought that I was schooled and all I had to do was pick up from where I left.

I open my mouth then close, like a fish wondering what I am supposed to tell him. He is looking at me expectantly, waiting for me to reply to his question.

"I have never gone to school," I finally talk and I feel the shame settle like a heavy coat on me.

"What? Those useless pigs never bothered to make sure you had an education! What world did they live in?!"

Liam's outburst is unexpected. He is genuinely angry and looks like he wants to go there himself and teach them the importance of education then kill them.

It's a funny sight, seeing him lose his cool like this. A small smile stretches on my lips and it's gone as fast as it came.

"Why do I need to go to school at all?" I ask him when he finally calms down.

"Because I thought it's something you wanted?" he is unsure and looks worried all of a sudden.

"I have always wanted to study but I didn't have a chance. But it's too late now," I shrug.

"No! No, it's not too late. If that's what you desire, I will personally educate you. Home-schooling! Yes!"

I can't help when a small laugh escapes my lips. He is funny today.

He catches it and freezes but then his eyes are full of adoration that I feel that I haven't done something wrong. That relaxes me more. The more I spend time with Liam, the more at ease I get and I feel a part of myself come forth.

It's strange and scary.

"Do you know how to teach?"

"No," he grumbles as he falls on the couch. I inhale sharply at the sight. Alpha Kingsley Liam is very handsome and every time I let myself forget his striking beauty and strength, it catches me unaware again.

"But, I will have the best of the best tutors and soon it will be like you have been in school since you were born!"

"I am not sure you should be very optimistic about this…" I start to tell him, but he stops me.

"My mate is the best. Whatever he does, even if it's flunking in a test, will not bother me the least," he smiles showing those dimples and my heart aches.

"I don't know what that says about you, the guardian of this student…"

"It says that my mate is flawless in my eyes," he comes close to me and pecks my right cheek and I freeze.

He notices and withdraws, worried he has crossed a line. Ever since I came here, I haven't felt the desire or even an inkling need to make things sexual with him. All we do is hug and hold hands.

Until now, I haven't felt like getting close to him any other way, which makes my current state all the more confusing. I feel a want to feel those soft plump lips against my skin again, but I don't know where I could begin to ask for it.

"I am sorry baby," Liam apologizes immediately, reading my reaction wrongly.

His calling me baby and even apologizing for pecking me on my cheek makes me attracted to him. I don't know what's happening to me, or my body so I clear my throat and look at him.

"You said I would have a guest soon?"

He nods, smiling softly. "Day, Travis' mate. Travis is the alpha of the Moon hue pack. Day is kind and gentle, he is not going to make you uncomfortable. Otherwise, he wouldn't be allowed to come here to you."

I smile again, feeling nice at how protective he is over me. But then his description of the guest makes me feel a little anxious. Now I want to see this gentle and kind Day, which my mate thinks highly of.

Am I jealous?

Over the next few days, Liam finds a fit tutor. He starts to let me get out of the room and walk around the garden and pool on the rooftop. It has come to be my favorite spot, especially at night.

The city lights and the cool air make me feel so alive, and a sense of peace washes over me when I am there with Liam, as we star gaze and talk.

I know Liam is hiding us from the whole world because he doesn't even go out for long hours, doesn't seem to leave my side for long periods and he has yet to introduce me to his pack.

The dark part of my mind tells me am ashamed of being seen with me, or even being associated with me. But then I look at him, his eyes and how he smiles and holds me as if afraid I will disappear, the thoughts become weaker and weaker.

"What's on your mind?" he asks me as he holds me in bed.

"You are always with me."

"Mhh."

"Why?"

He looks at me but if I want to ask him what I need, I can't look at him. I will forget everything.

"Are you already bored of me?"

"No!"

"Then what's going on baby?"

"You are always with me, you don't seem to do anything else, and yet you are an alpha," I insist on my earlier point.

I know alphas have a lot of duties and roles to undertake. They can be gone for weeks, always busy. But Liam has been here with me for days on end not even doing any sort of paperwork, I am starting to worry I have disrupted his life once again.

"Yes, because I just found my mate. I am on my honeymoon. Work can wait," he murmurs and kisses my head.

I look up at him and he has his eyes closed, seemingly content to just lay here with me. "Are you sure? I don't want to disrupt your life."

"You are my life," he languidly opens those eyes and I am sucked right in.

The flutters in my stomach come alive.

"I am not enough for you."

"You are more than enough."

We look at each other for three heartbeats and I don't know who moves first but I feel his cool lips press onto mine and the tingles rush through my whole body.

I moan without intending to and he pulls back.

His eyes are clouded with want and desire and it settles in my mind. He wants me. He is desiring only me and he says I am enough for him.

I have never been enough for the other one, but Liam says I am.

I lean towards him and press my lips against his, and he sucks in a breath before taking my lips in his and sweeps me in his embrace.
