I have to say that seeing the look on my sisters' faces when they found out that I knew the man from the night before was, in fact, Makai, was very satisfying. They didn't think that Makai would defy them by telling me. They were certain that they were going to be able to control him like they had done to me for years. Well, that wasn't going to happen anymore. The days of them terrorizing me was over.

I was going to be a married man as of today. I wasn't a little kid in school anymore. And my husband and I would stand up to their tyranny. We would be strong against them when we were united. That and I would be living in my own home so there was less of a chance for them to get to me. I mean, all I had to do was tell them that they were not allowed to come in. And if they did something to me in my own home, I could tell them to leave. That was the beauty of having our own home.
