บท 19: Shastri's Security Services
It was around 7'o clock when shastri reached varthur. He saw that inspector Praveen had already come to pick him up.
Praveen was also excited to see him. He greeted him, "Good evening Sir, my name is Praveen. We had already talked yesterday. Sir I have heard a lot about you. Sir when I was in training-"
"I'd rather not hear about my own achievements. As of now I have come to solve a kidnapping case. So is there any new observations that have come up in the course of investigation?"
"Ok Sir. The thing is that we have already circulated her photo in the surrounding police station. Her parents have already announced a handsome reward to whoever gives the clue which to find Nikhita. We have got many calls but most of them are prank calls. None of the calls helped us whatsoever."
"I have already gotten this information from viraj. My question is different. Who are Nikhita's parents that the police force is mobilizing its resources to search their daughter? Don't tell me it's your duty. I was also a part of police force not too long ago." Shastri said sarcastically.
"Well sir, have you heard Vardhan industries?" Praveen asked hesitatingly.
"Yes, I have heard." Shastri said doubtfully. Suddenly his mind flashed, "Don't tell me, she is the daughter of Mr. Vardhan right?"
"Yes Sir." Said Praveen nodding his head." Sir are you nervous?" he asked shastri.
"No dummy. I am happy" said shastri, pounding Praveen's back. Then ignoring the painful look on praveen's face he said" this is chance for me to form connection with one of the businessman. If I do a good job in this case he will recommend me to other businessman. With the backing of this many businessmen I can start my own firm 'Shastri's Consulting Services' ".
Praveen began choking. Hearing that shastri gave him bottle of water from his bag. After making sure Praveen drank the water he asked" Did you eat heavily? Why are you choking like that?"
"I think I ate heavily in the evening." Praveen lied.
"Ok. It happens sometimes. Birthday party, new colleague welcoming party I assume?"
"Yes"
"Well it happens in this places. Be aware of your capacity to eat. Don't eat everything just because your friends or colleagues say you. If you are sick because of them, they can't take on your suffering. Understand?" shastri said.
"I understand, Sir" Praveen said. His faith in Mr. Shastri had reduced.
"Another thing…. Arrange a meeting with Mr. Vardhan tomorrow. By the way, how many members are there in Mr.Vardhan's house?"
"There are only two members in the house, Mr. Vardhan and his wife. They have two children, one son and a daughter. Son's name is Niriksh. As of now he is studying M.B.A in pune."
"How was the sibling's relationship with each other? Did he come back as soon as he got the news?"
"He came two days after he got the news. He was searching for house to settle with his girlfriend it seems. Anyway he has money. So ladies must be waiting to get in his lap even before graduation" Praveen said.
"Did you analyze his statement?"
"Well we checked his statement sir and his friends said that it was true. But Mr.Vardhan was very angry on him sir… well I think that if I was in his place I would also be angry."
"Why? Is this because of girlfriend issue" Shastri asked.
"Bingo Sir. Who would search for a home for his girlfriend even though his sister is missing? I detest such person sir." Praveen said scathingly.
At the time they had reached shastri's hotel. Shastri said "It is already late today. Leave for the day. We will continue our work tomorrow."
After ensuring that shastri went inside the hotel Praveen called Viraj.
"Hi bro. Did shastri reach varthur safely? We had told him to call once he reached varthur but I guess he forgot."Viraj asked.
"Yeah, he has reached here safely. Viraj I have a question? Do you believe in transmigration, reincarnation thing?"
"No. I don't believe it. But why are you asking me this now? Did you get any new case?" Viraj said, sounding a little confused.
"Well I also did not believe in it, but I believe it now. I think Shastri Sir's soul has transmigrated to some fantasy land, and his body has some businessman's soul. He was asking me to arrange meeting with Mr.Vardhan Sir. And the reason? To extend business ties with him!!"
"Well, I told you he tends to act a little bit cranky, didn't I?"
"He is not a little bit cranky, he is really weird!!! And he wants to establish a firm named 'Shastri's Consulting Services'. I mean who would come for investigation and talk about business proposition to victim's family. When you told me he had come to help me I was happy, but now I think it is a waste of time" praveen's sounded disappointed.
"Well you just let him handle the case for one week. If you still are not satisfied I will pay the consultation fees on your behalf. I will also not recommend him anywhere anymore. Satisfied?"
"Well I am satisfied. But there is one doubt nagging in my mind" Praveen said sounding confused," What is this consultation fees thing you are talking about?
"Well... I can't hear you now. Hello…..Hello…" Viraj hung up, sweating all over.
"What the heck was he talking about?" on the other end Praveen began to ponder.
