If this novel is like ZTJ, I can already see myself dropping it in frustration. Why? In the case of ZTJ, the MC was too weak to fight his own battles until 120+ chapters in, the author begins to add tons and tons of filler into the story lkke redundant commentary from observers, extraneous explanations that are forgotten after they have been read and dragged out battles ala Dragon Ball Z where a single punch can take up a whole chapter. I was hoping that after almost 200 chapters, the dragging on and filler would have lessened, but no. I found myself saying 'Get to the freaking point author! Move the plot forward already! Arg!'. Rant mode off... :P I can only pray this story does not fall into the same hole as ZTJ. There are too many other good stories out there to be wasting my time on soul draining filler.

Just the first chapter and im already god damn confused. Stories written in riddles from chinese context has lost a lot of the content's meaning after translation. I dont see any point wrecking my brain just to enjoy a novel. 😓

you really just can't say that the story is garbage by reading the first 3 of 1088 chapters of the novel then rating it 1.5 star. sure the quality in translation is in need of editing but this novel is a completed work deserving of its luster of praise. so i hope those who gave their irresponsible ratings and reviews will update it as the translation soon catches up till the completion, i'm not asking for high ratings but a reasonable one because at the end of the day we have all different tastes for stories.

Mao ni novels are different from regular cn novels that are full of cliche, repeatative tropes and fluff. Mao ni novels have well thought of plots, full of literature (like poems and qoutes), descriptive paragraphs. For sure, not everyone prefers this. Writing style is a bit heavier compare to shallow and easy to understand novels. It might take a while for thing to get interesting. But it is worth taking note of, mao ni novels are different from others of it genre

Some people may enjoy reading chapters with 80-90% world and miscellaneous descriptions while only 10% is character action/dialogue. However, my patience is not at that level. The whole 50+ chapters I've read so far could have been easily shrunk to about 10. With that said, this author's writing style definitely depicts every situation well enough for your imagination to fill in a full picture. Unfortunately, that makes story progression drunk-snail slow. Chapters go on and on about side characters and information only relevant for the next 3-5 chapters. Perhaps this sort of super-detailed story telling is your thing...but I'm tired of skimming text looking for important details to avoid growing a beard while reading.

Alright guys settle down, this is not some cheap thrills and instant fight novels like your typical xianxia. It has more poetic and descriptive style, immersive at best and dragging at worst. Some people might said its deep and immersive. Like me. Some people might think its boring and pretentious. Well everybody is entitled to their opinion anyways. This story has steady pacing, detailed world building and deep characterization. The only bad side is the update speed I guess, its not fast enough lol. Story is interesting but ztj is still this author pinnacle so i give it 4 star.

Despite some negative reviews currently, I decided to give this a try. I was not disappointed, I had to power through the first two chapters, but I am now ready for more chapters. The story is slow, but the characters and my interest in seeing the protagonist progres is what is currently keeping me addicted. If you can deal with the fact that the story is slow compared to others, and get past the first 2-3 chapters, you will start to see the promise the story has, even only 22 chapters in.

This story is not for those who enjoy a fast paced, guilty pleasure harem novel, and skip from novel to novel to find anything to gawk at for having a ‘badass, cold and ruthless’ MC, who is just a kid trying to look cool in reality. Translation Quality: 3/5 There are a lot of grammar and spelling mistakes, it is fine now, but it is still prevalent in the earlier chapters. Stability of Updates: 5/5 2 chapters a day since day 1, with not a single minute of delay throughout. Story Development: 5/5 Those who enjoy fast-paced novels won’t be a big fan of this. This novel is the most well thought out novel on qidian by a long shot. The author isn’t scared to take his time, and it is AMAZING!!! The MC can’t cultivate at the start, only at chapter 1?? can he do so, but as a fan of cultivation stories, this story has BY FAR THE BEST START OF A NOVEL and IT’S QUALITY DOES THE OPPOSITE OF DECLINING. Character Design: 5/5 BEST CHARACTERS ON QIDIAN, you could pick any random character from this story, and make a novel on them that would be a big hit. They all feel so realistic and fleshed out, that you can’t help but wonder in awe in how the author wrote them so well. The MC is amazing, and DESPITE HAVING SUCH DETAILED AND REALISTIC CHARACTERS, YOU STILL FEEL HE IS THE MOST INTERESTING. World Background: 5/5 Phenomenal. The world has a clear and rich history better than any other. The history feels like a real history that could happen in our world, except a few people have some small powers. Not much to say, just brilliant.
