"Leslie!"
I open my eyes and stare at the trees and the clouds above. I could still hear Mary calling for me but I did not move an inch. I wanted to take the scenery all in before I go back to reality.
"Leslie!" "Get up! We are about to miss the parade!"
It's just a dumb parade for the humans, I don't understand why I should attend at all. I don't understand Mary's enthusiasm towards human parades. They celebrate their bloodstained victories towards others even though they are all of the same race. Us Aasimar are a low-profile and for the most part peaceful race. Even though we resemble humans in physical appearance, we have some features that distinguish us and those are the markings we are born with which can be either, gold, black, silver, white, or blue. We also tend to live longer than them as well. This is why this situation seems all too redundant.
"Mary, just go without me. I don't wish to go to a human parade."
"Aww Leslie! Come on, please, for me this once. I promise I won't force you the next time."
"Fine. Just for you."
"Great! Let's go!" Mary said while giggling. That's what I loved about her. She was warm and kind. I could never say no to her, and she couldn't say no to me either. My best friend. She had beautiful red wavy hair, hazel eyes with a bit of a golden glow, and a warm smile. She was perfect no matter what way you tried to look at it. She would probably say the same about me if anyone asked because that's how beautiful her soul was.
