บท 8: Eight: A Bleeding Heart

If CalisVon was going to congratulate Sai, what would it look like if her own brother didn't go to congratulate her?

Mor wanted to rush out there, but found his legs planted into place.

'Dammit, move.' Mor screamed at himself, but his body did not obey. He just watched with sunken eyes as SaiDrigin was basking in the adoration of everyone, including her mother. And to add to that, CalisVon was now there. He bowed his head, and said something Mor couldn't make out.

She smiled and said something back. After which Sai turned her gaze to Mor, making him feel like he was in a dark room, with a spotlight pointed directly at him.

He clenched his fist, as he felt his being crumble.

'Am I that jealous?' Mor thought, falling his gaze.

As he stood, he didn't know what to do or say. All he knew was how he felt, and that all eyes were on him.

Pulling him from his head was the shuffling of a pair of feet. He looked up, and felt his being jitter when he saw his sister making her way toward him.

Looking into her eyes, MorDrigin found a distant pain in them mixed together with joy she felt. Making her way closer to him, Sai placed her head on Mor's chest, then she spoke in a quiet tone.

"You are happy for me, right brother?"

Mor didn't respond, he wasn't sure what to say.

'Why am I not sure what to say?' Mor thought to himself. Clenching his fists, he felt anger for himself. He loathed himself even. 'What kind of degenerate wouldn't be happy for his little sister?'

Sai jittered a little when she felt a hand on her shoulder. Looking up, she found Mor staring down at her. So he gazed into her blue eyes.

"Of course I am. Is that even a question?" MorDrigin said with a faint smile. "I always knew you could do it. I'm very proud of you." Mor added, then he ruffled her hair.

Sai did not feel annoyed, or rather she didn't want to be. She was too happy to let any negative emotion get hold of her, so she smiled.

Looking into her eyes, MorDrigin found tears lining its edges. Was she being this way just because of his approval? Mor wasn't sure.

Not wanting to get emotional, she used her one free hand which was not occupied by her bonding Ethos to clean out her eyes. Then she chuckled, before turning to the others.

"What are we waiting for? Let's go find your..."

SaiDrigin did not get to finish her sentence when a siren suddenly rang into the air.

Upon hearing this siren, everyone froze in place. Fear creeping into their hearts, including TayDrigin.

Almost immediately everyone had looked up. The sun was visible in the sky, but was obscured here and there by trees. Looking at the sun, they could see something amiss. Circling the outer rim of the sun, was a blue hue.

Instantly, they knew what this meant.

Turning away before the Sun would burn their eyes longer, TayDrigin flicked the air, and an item appeared out of light into her hand. The item was a crystal ball of sorts. It had tiny specks floating inside it, along with lightning that struck occasionally with clouds forming and dispersing.

Shutting her eyes, she concentrated on the item. And within the second, she opened her eyes and walked toward a direction with a strange certainty to her demeanor.

Without speaking, everyone followed behind. With Sai finding herself holding onto Mor out of fright.

MorDrigin held her arm firmly, as he followed their mother.

Looking up once again, Mor could see the blue hue growing in thickness. So it began to obscure the edges of the Sun.

Thirty minutes into their walk, they came across a clock tower of sorts. At least it looked like a clock tower. But in truth whatever the structure was couldn't be properly discerned because it had long sunken into the ground, so that what was left was just a giant building with a massive semicircular hole in the middle and a conical top.

The structure looked ancient and worn out, yet it still stood mighty and tall for thousands of years. Despite the fact that a bulk of the structure was missing. This part of it was incredibly massive. So that everyone present looked like ants in comparison.

Looking at the structure, every person present was in awe. And though Mor had already seen this structure more than two times now, he still found himself taken by its beauty and strange patterns that formed its building blocks.

The stones or whatever material that was used to created this structure did not conform to the norm. Where one brick was placed atop another. But was instead lined in an array of jagged lines that all seemed to culminate in coherency somehow. And this marvel of architecture was just the outside.

For one to wonder how such a structure was created was truly mind boggling. Which was all the more reason MorDrigin found himself in love with it.

"Is this that place you always told us about?" Sai had asked, still mesmerized by the structure.

Mor smiled, then nodded.

In truth, he had intentionally brought them here. Which was why he chose a very specific part of the edge of the city to stand. And it was the same reason he had jumped, so he would aim for the part of Eden closest to it, so they would in turn come across it.

Words could not describe how Mor felt the first time he had seen it, and by God he wanted to make sure his sister — and now his mother — would feel the same. And by their disposition, Mor was all but sure he had accomplished this small goal of his.

"Okay everyone, let's go inside." TayDrigin had said, turning her sights to their surrounding.

Pulling himself out of his head, Mor had likewise done the same thing as his mother. He turned his sights in all directions, inspecting their environment. Relief overcame him when he saw that their hour wasn't up yet.

Turning back to the structure, Mor's eyes had widened when he saw his mother's sword in front of him, impaling thin air. But somehow, blood was seeping out of said thin air.

Staring a bit longer, Mor found his heart had skipped a beat when he saw a long sword-like claw only an inch away from his temple.
