"You shouldn't have come here, Jasper," Julian's voice low, simmering from a barely contained fury as he stood defensively rigid. Every muscle in his body was taut, as if bracing for something he couldn't control.
Jasper, however, remained eerily calm, leaning casually against the doorframe as though he hadn't a care in the world. He studied Julian with a mix of amusement and disdain. "Oh, spare me the theatrics, Julian. I'm not here to fight. I'm here to talk."
I stepped forward, placing myself directly between the two men. The air was alive, thick with unspoken words and tension that hung between them like a heavy fog. My heart pounded in my throat, every nerve screaming at me to run, to flee from the storm brewing before me, but I couldn't. Not anymore.
