After finishing the ten kowtows, Ye Feng's head was spinning. He stood up shakily, only to be supported by Tiger Lord.
In his anger and frustration, he had bashed his head on the ground a bit too seriously, enough to make his bleed a bit from his forehead. He was the protagonist after all, and only when things didn't go according to the plot would he lose his temper.
It was only when his mind cleared a little that Ye Feng gritted his teeth and spat, "Is that enough?!" His eyes glared at Haoran, and Haoran, in response, just waved his hand, unbothered and cheery.
"Of course. You may leave now," Fang Haoran replied, clearly in a fantastic mood. How could he not be in a good mood? Every time Ye Feng kowtowed, Fang Haoran's system chimed in with a satisfying "Ding!"
+20, +20, +20 for each kowtow.
In total, Ye Feng's protagonist halo was reduced by 200 points, while Fang Haoran gained 200 points of luck and 20 skill points.
Had he known it would be this effective, he'd have demanded even more kowtows. After all, Ye Feng owed him more money than 20 million. Even with all of this combined, kowtows, stones, and the money from Li Hu, it only accounted for 31 million, leaving 69 still left on Ye Feng.
But Haoran couldn't ask for it now, or he would have his image turned bad. Even if he could, he wouldn't, as 69 is a holy number, maybe it would bring him some profit. So, for now, he let it go.
Ye Feng, on the other hand, was fuming as he saw Fang Haoran's smug expression, as he followed Tiger Lord out. But before leaving, he turned back, unwilling to accept defeat.
"Fang Haoran, don't get cocky! The wheel of fortune turns. Today it's you; tomorrow it'll be me!" His eyes burned with defiance, and his words were loud and clear, "I, Ye Feng, am no lesser man than you!"
He glared at Haoran, and declared, "One day, I'll repay this humiliation a hundredfold!"
As Ye Feng delivered his dramatic proclamation, Fang Haoran hadn't even reacted before Li Hu, embarrassed, hurriedly dragged him away.
'This is too awkward!' Li Hu roared with embarrassment written on his face, not even turning back.
What had Ye Feng been reading? Those lines were straight out of a clichéd online novel!
And what's worse, they didn't even fit this modern-day scenario. It was as if he'd forcefully pasted the lines from a fantasy setting into a completely different world.
It was cringe-worthy.
Looking at Ye Feng's departing back, unwilling but helpless, Fang Haoran just smirked dismissively.
'Your protagonist halo is down to just 420 points—less than half of its original value. How do you plan to fight me now?' He shook his head, 'You've already 'died' five times at my hands, and now I have the system. Do the math.'
If not for that there was no next chance, and he couldn't be reckless like last time where he thought of only killing Ye Feng instead of the consequences, then the guy would've died already.
Ignoring the others, he checked his own stats through the system interface.
[Fang Haoran: "Villain's Counterattack System" Host

→ Skill Points: 38
→ Strength: 70
→ Physique: 100
→ Mental Strength: 200

Without having to think much about it, Haoran commanded his system, 'Allocate all skill points to Strength.'
[Ding! Points allocated. Current Strength: 108.]
And as he heard the sound and felt a similar warmth spreading through his body, Fang Haoran left the gambling hall, with a satisfied expression.
Today he had gained more than he had hoped for.
......
That evening, in an office at City Hall, Fang Haoran sat upright, his expression serious.
Opposite him sat a man with an aura of authority, who looked at Fang Haoran with some curiosity.
"Haoran, what's so important that you had to call me over?" He questioned, raising his brow as he looked into Haoran's eyes.
"Uncle Xu, I need your help to get justice for the Fang Group," Fang Haoran said earnestly.
"We've been law-abiding, diligent taxpayers, creating countless jobs for this city. Yet just because we're wealthy, we've become targets for the Fierce Tiger Gang!" He said with grievance clear in his voice.
He had produced evidence gathered by his subordinates over the past few days, along with a recording of Tiger Lord's threats from earlier that day. So, the best one to deal with this would be the police department, and right now, he is sitting in front of the head of the city police, Xu Tian.
"Li Hu said if we don't bow to the Fierce Tiger Gang, they'll make sure our southern district projects come to a halt." As Fang Haoran spoke, Xu Ting took the evidence and glanced through it. Based on his experience and prior intel, it seemed credible.
Still, Xu Ting was left puzzled. He didn't believe that the mighty Fang Group couldn't handle a gang like the Fierce Tiger Gang.
On the surface, the Fang family appeared to be just businessmen vulnerable to gangsters, but Xu Ting knew better. If it came down to a showdown, ten Fierce Tiger Gangs wouldn't be enough to pose a threat to the Fang family.
The evidence in his hands, for example, contained details on nearly all of the gang's key members. Once action was taken, the gang would be completely dismantled.
Fang Haoran, on the other hand, continued, "The Fang Group has an important project in the southern district tomorrow. If the Fierce Tiger Gang interferes, we could lose billions in profits." He paused, his expression became turned more serious as he concluded. "That's why I hope, Uncle Xu, that you can take action tonight to curb their arrogance."
Xu Ting, however, frowned. "With this evidence, arrests won't be a problem. But the gang has many members. It'll take at least a week to deal with them fully."
It was not that he didn't want to deal with those gangsters, he just didn't have enough motivation to, and Fang Haoran understood it perfectly, so he began.
"Uncle Xu," he bent forward, his eyes staring right into Xu Ting's eyes, as he spoke calmly, "If the Fierce Tiger Gang is eliminated, this project's net profit will reach three billion Yuan. At that time, the Fang Group will publicly announce that half of the project's profit will be donated to the Public Security Bureau to improve personnel benefits and upgrade equipment."
"Half?!" This is what he wanted to hear, but Xu Ting still raised his brow in surprise. He knew the project was just an excuse, but wasn't 1.5 billion yuan of donation a considerable amount even for Fang Group?
What truly puzzled him was why Fang Haoran was so desperate to wipe out the Fierce Tiger Gang by tomorrow morning, even at such a high cost.
But after a moment of hesitation, unable to ignore an offer so enticing, Xu Ting nodded.
"Alright. We'll act tonight."
Fang Haoran, with a smile, then stood up and nodded to Xu Ting. "Thank you, Uncle Xu!"
His work here was done; now all he had to do was wait, so he drove back to his family's villa.
Arriving there, he tossed his coat onto a chair and slumped onto the sofa, closing his eyes in thought.
Standing silently beside him was his butler, Xu Fu—someone who had served the Fang family for over three decades, even before Fang Haoran was born. Loyal and dependable, he was more like a trusted elder than a servant.
Through the system, Fang Haoran could see Xu Fu's trust level was at 92, and his strength had reached the peak of the initial stage of An Jing.
If not for Ye Feng's master, Fang Haoran would've sent Xu Fu to deal with Ye Feng personally.
With his eyes still closed and his back relaxed on the comfy chair, he called out to the old man, "Uncle Fu."
And Xu Fu, without a second's delay, stepped forward, "Yes, Master."
Though Xu Fu used to call him "Young Master." He started calling him "Master" after he took over the family business; no matter what Haoran said, the guy insisted on addressing him as "Master" and Fang Haoran could only resign to his fate.
"Where's Old Mo?" Haoran then questioned.
To which, Xu Fu replied, "He's near the target."
Old Mo, full name Mo Yidao, was in the mid-stage of An Jing. He was Xu Fu's adopted son and a loyal blade in Fang Haoran's father's rise to power.
In the original storyline, Old Mo and Xu Fu both died protecting Fang Haoran from Ye Feng and the third heroine, Yun Ning'er. Their deaths left Fang Haoran powerless to resist Ye Feng.
Now, however, Old Mo had been tasked with gathering intel on the Fierce Tiger Gang.
"The authorities will act at 10 p.m. tonight," Fang Haoran informed Xu Fu. "Let him settle the score with Tiger Lord on my behalf."
"Also," opening his eyes, he added coldly, "tell Old Mo I'm in the mood for fish."
Those words made the butler's eyes open as well, and with a cold glint passing through them, he nodded, "As you wish, master."
