Chapter 65: Infighting
The third stop had arrived.
With the opening of the doors, the mysterious figures in the bus began to rise from their seats. The little boy sitting in the single seat on the right waved goodbye to Lin Ye and Ren Nanase, smiling as he seemed to remind them of something with his lips.
The large bus was now left with only the four of them.
The blue-haired delinquent stood up and moved to sit next to the middle-aged man, ensuring that both sides of the bus were occupied.
By now, everyone was very clear on the rules. They knew they had to be careful to avoid violating any of them.
The next stop would be Chiba Station.
Once they reached Chiba Station, they would be able to survive and leave this place.
Clack... clack...
At the door, a few figures appeared.
Four people boarded in order, all dressed in matching gray work uniforms. The clothes were stained with grayish-white dirt, making them look a bit shabby, and their faces were obscured—whether due to the dim lighting of the bus or for another reason, it was unclear.
"The bus will soon be departing. Please take your seats, passengers," the driver's standard announcement echoed.
The four individuals walked in synchrony, moving quietly without making a sound, and took their seats behind the blue-haired delinquent and the middle-aged man, as well as behind Lin Ye and Ren Nanase.
At this moment, Ren Nanase froze. She could feel the eerie presence behind her, staring at her, making it impossible to move. In the end, she cautiously reached out and grasped Lin Ye's hand, seeking comfort.
Lin Ye glanced at her but didn't release her hand. Instead, he enjoyed the soft touch of her hand, feeling comforted by the sensation.
The blue-haired delinquent and the middle-aged man were on high alert, glancing over their shoulders, afraid that the eerie figures behind them might suddenly attack.
However, the bus continued for some time, and the four new passengers showed no immediate signs of movement. They were eerily quiet, just like the previous passengers who had not caused any trouble.
Could it be... that nothing would happen now?
The two men couldn't help but feel their tense hearts slowly relaxing.
Another minute passed in silence.
The quiet bus was finally broken by a low, gravelly voice.
"Hunger."
"Eat lamb."
"I told you, I want to eat lamb."
"Barbecue."
"Tastes good."
…
The words were simple, but they seemed to have some sort of strange power, stirring a deep craving for food in everyone, the hunger growing stronger.
"Hunger."
"Eat."
"Lamb…"
"Can eat half."
The voice grew stronger, with an almost explosive tone.
Lin Ye immediately realized the rules were starting to take effect.
Hunger.
Want to eat lamb?
But did the lamb refer to...?
Lin Ye looked ahead and saw the eerie transformations of the two figures in front of him. Their gray work uniforms began to bulge, their bodies expanding, fur sprouting, and revealing their beast-like, wolfish forms.
Drip... drip...
Saliva dripped down.
Lin Ye didn't even need to look back to know that the two eerie figures behind them had also transformed, revealing their true forms.
This was a rule where they needed to feed the 'eerie' creatures until they were full to proceed.
Lin Ye could feel the hunger growing inside him as well.
Time stopped.
He started observing and considered attacking the eerie creatures, but the effects were almost nonexistent.
As the bus continued forward, the eerie figures' movements grew more intense.
They were getting closer.
The dripping saliva landed near them. Ren Nanase had already fully hugged Lin Ye's left arm, clearly understanding that the way to pass this trial was to feed the eerie figures—but how could they feed them? Would they have to sacrifice lives?
She glanced up nervously but quickly shut her eyes. The gaping bloody maw and the scarlet eyes of the beast-like creatures terrified her so much that she couldn't dare look any longer.
Lin Ye had a guess, but he wasn't in a hurry. After all, there were four eerie creatures in total.
The blue-haired delinquent and the middle-aged man also felt the pressure. The heavy breathing and dripping saliva from behind were clear warnings of the approaching danger.
But how were they supposed to deal with this?
Big brother, please think of something! The middle-aged man screamed inwardly, but there was no sound from behind.
Slurp...
The blue-haired delinquent trembled as he felt a cold tongue lick his face. It was about to attack.
What should he do? His gaze shifted to the middle-aged man next to him.
If he could eat the man, maybe the blue-haired delinquent thought he could survive.
Realizing this, the blue-haired delinquent immediately threw a heavy punch into the middle-aged man's abdomen.
"Ugh…"
The man grunted in pain, but his voice was quickly stifled.
The middle-aged man was completely caught off guard by the blue-haired delinquent's sudden attack.
Before he could figure out the blue-haired delinquent's intentions, he immediately retaliated.
Bang…
Boom…
The two of them began to fight. The younger, stronger blue-haired delinquent quickly gained the upper hand, grabbing the middle-aged man's head like a ragdoll.
"Lamb, it's yours," the blue-haired delinquent said carefully, dragging the middle-aged man's head like a lifeless dog.
He quickly moved to the right side of the bus, fearing that if he was slow for even a second, he might end up as the next meal.
Sizzle…
Crash…
With a scream from the middle-aged man, his massive body was torn apart and consumed, leaving nothing behind.
The blue-haired delinquent didn't dare to look.
"I'm full…"
"Lamb, so good…"
"You're... good lamb, not eating you…"
Hearing this, the blue-haired delinquent almost burst into tears. He had made the right bet! He had survived!
The two werewolf-like creatures began to shrink back into their human forms, visibly losing their beast-like features.
The blue-haired delinquent's gaze shifted to the last two eerie figures.
When he saw them clearly, he froze.
What was going on with the last two? How had they returned to their human forms?
Had the beautiful girl already been sacrificed?
Quickly, he turned his gaze to Ren Nanase, sitting beside Lin Ye. She looked a bit nervous, but she was unharmed.
She was still alive? How had she dealt with the eerie figures?
The blue-haired delinquent was utterly confused.
