บท 3: Chap 3: Project progress

"Why so serious?" Victoria teased, her smirk growing wider as she noticed his annoyance. She had expected him to be the stuck-up type, but his reaction was amusing to her, and she couldn't help but enjoy riling him up.

Thomas rolled his eyes, visibly annoyed by her childish behavior. "This isn't a joke, Victoria. We have to work on the project. It's important for our grade," he said, trying to convey his point in a professional manner.

She shrugged nonchalantly, her smirk unfazed by his serious demeanor. "Alright, alright," she said, stepping aside and gesturing for Thomas to come inside. "Come on in and let's get to work," she added, amusement evident in her voice. She seemed to find amusement in his frustration and seriousness.

Thomas stepped inside, trying to ignore her amusement. His eyes glanced around the interior, taking in the cozy ambiance of her home. Despite himself, he couldn't help but feel slightly charmed by the warm, lived-in feel of the place, the stark contrast to his own neat and structured house.

As they entered, Thomas couldn't help but notice the contrast between the coziness of Victoria's home and the neatness of his own. It was almost as if her house mirrored her personality, the organized chaos of his home versus the casual charm of hers. He tried to ignore the contrast and focus on the task at hand, reminding himself that he wasn't here for social visits.

He scanned the room, making a mental note of the scattered books and other items. It seemed like her nonchalant attitude extended to her living space. Victoria closed the door behind him and led him towards the living area, where books and notes were scattered across the table.

The table was cluttered with books, papers, and various other items, a sharp contrast to the neat and organized space Thomas was used to. He followed her, trying to ignore the messiness, knowing there was no point trying to fix it now.Thomas was mentally comparing the disarray of the room to his well-organized living space, the stark contrast only serving to highlight their differences. But he couldn't help but feel slightly intrigued by how someone like her could live in such apparent chaos. He shook the thought away, reminding himself to focus on the assignment.

As Thomas settled on the couch, he looked at Victoria, waiting for her to join him and discuss the project. There was a mix of curiosity and annoyance inside him. She still leaned against the door frame, her arms crossed and a smirk on her face. Her lack of urgency to start the assignment was becoming mildly irritating. Was she even serious about their project? She seemed unaffected by his frustration, and it only fuelled his annoyance more.

"So, are we going to start the project or are you going to stand there all day?" Thomas asked, his tone more sharp than usual. He didn't like being kept waiting, especially by someone who clearly found pleasure in riling him up.Victoria's smirk only grew wider at his sharp tone, clearly enjoying getting under his skin. She uncrossed her arms and took a seat across from him, her amusement still evident in her eyes. "Alright, alright," she said, still not sounding all that dedicated. "Let's see what we got for this project then."Thomas and Victoria continued to discuss the project. He tried desperately to focus on the assignment and getting the work done, but it was challenging. Something about her relaxed and almost carefree demeanor had him slightly on edge. Yet there was something about her that peaked his curiosity. There was clearly more to her than just her carefree exterior, he could feel it.

She casually listened to him and suggested ideas, which he considered, and for a moment he saw her serious side. But then the playful smirk would return, and her suggestions would take a less focused turn, which frustrated him, but at the same time, fascinated him. He was torn between annoyance and curiosity about her true nature. His mind could not shake off the suspicion.Thomas was frustrated by her mixed signals. One moment, she seemed to actually contribute to the project, and the next she seemed to be on a different wavelength, purposely trying to make him feel uneasy. Her constant back and forth made him question his own sanity. He tried his best to stay objective and focused, but it was hard with her presence around. He wanted to focus on the task and ignore her teasing mannerisms, but he also couldn't deny that there was something about her that pulled him in. Despite himself, he found himself occasionally sneaking glances at her, trying to figure her out. The mixture of annoyance and fascination was confusing and he disliked the uncertainty.

*She's beautiful tho- wtf I'm thinking*

Thomas quickly snapped himself out of his unintentional thoughts. His mind had wandered off, and he'd found himself admiring her beauty for a moment. He mentally scolded himself, shaking the thoughts away immediately. Did he just have such thoughts about her? No, he couldn't allow himself to be distracted like that. He firmly reminded himself that they were just partners on a project, and nothing else.Thomas, slightly flustered by his own wandering mind, took a deep breath and returned his attention to the project. He'd just had inappropriate thoughts about his partner and it wasn't okay. He reminded himself of their professional relationship and tried to ignore whatever feelings were stirring inside him.

*Time skip*

After completing their discussion, Thomas felt a mix of satisfaction and frustration. Despite her nonchalance, they had accomplished their project preparation. "Alright, that's a start," he said in a neutral tone. He stood up, ready to leave. Her carefree attitude still annoyed him, but there was something about her that stayed on his mind. He didn't quite understand why her laid-back demeanor had such an effect on him.Thomas gathered his things, feeling a little conflicted. Part of him was relieved the project was underway, but he couldn't deny the frustration her carefree attitude had caused him. He glanced at her, seeing her packing her things without a care in the world, that smirky smile back on her face. He knew she enjoyed irritating him, and he despised it. But he also couldn't ignore the fact that he was inexplicably drawn toward her.

He wanted to leave, to shake off the unsettling feelings she stirred in him, but it was hard to ignore the way she seemed to enjoy toying with his patience. He wondered if she even took the project seriously or if it was all a game to her."See you tomorrow at school," Thomas said, his voice a mix of exhaustion and a hint of curiosity. He gave her a nod, his eyes lingering for a moment before he left. He was still trying to comprehend his confusing feelings for her. Despite her carefree attitude, she was attractive and intriguing, but he pushed those thoughts away as he stepped out of her house.

As he walked away, Thomas scolded himself again. "Get a grip," he muttered to himself. Why was a girl making him feel so conflicted and annoyed? She had a carefree and cocky nature and it was obvious she enjoyed teasing him. But why did it have such an effect on him?

*At home*

Thomas sat down at his desk, the soft glow of his table lamp lighting up his journal while the moon casted a gentle silvery light into his bedroom. The dim atmosphere felt peaceful, almost magical. He pulled open his journal and took hold of a pen, letting out a breath as his fingers grazed the pages. Thomas had always been an avid writer of poetry, a small passion of his.He started to write letting the words flow from his mind into the pages reflection his emotions n thoughts.

*The poetry*

Her smile, a wicked delight

Taunts me, leaving me in plight

Annoying charm, a teasing gaze

Why must I succumb to her ways?

Her laughter echoes, a merry sound

Yet, every word cuts deep, unbound

Probing jokes, a playful sting

Why do I crave the burn she brings?

I resist, I deny, I hide

The truth I dare not abide

For in her eyes, a spark I see

A flame that beckons, "Follow me"

But logic screams, "Beware the snare"

This siren's call, a heart laid bare

Her teasing games, a perilous sea

Drowning sanity, lost in ecstasy

How can I yield to her allure?

When every word cuts, every glance ensures

A vulnerability I dare not show

Yet, in her presence, I'm lost, aglow.

....is it love or just a attraction
