บท 8: Let's Run Away?

Kael Draven and the Mechanibbit met halfway, their eyes locked on each other.

Time seemed to slow as Kael's mind raced.

His opponent was only about a meter tall. Not particularly large, but for a rabbit, it was enough to rival the size of a normal child. And this rabbit was no ordinary creature. No normal human could hope to handle something like it.

Forty-five years. That was how long Kael had reigned as the White Prime. In all those years, he had fought thousands upon thousands of enemies—monsters like the one in front of him, other species, and even highly advanced robots. Anthi-Orgs or not, he had lost count of how many he'd killed.

Decades of fighting had given the White Primeval immense experience, especially in life-and-death situations. And now, that hard-earned experience was perhaps the only valuable thing he still had after waking up a hundred years in the future—aside from the 'thing' that woke him up every morning.

Kael didn't need much time to devise a plan to defeat this half-living, half-mechanical rabbit. He moved on instinct, almost without thought, sidestepping to the Mechanibbit's side. With precise timing, he reached for his ultrasonic frequency sword, dodging the creature's razor-sharp teeth by a hair's breadth.

The Mechanibbit's teeth snapped together, sparking from the impact.

Kael seized the moment, pulling the sword as hard as he could while activating it. The weapon let out a high-pitched whirring sound as it vibrated violently.

With the sword now in hand, Kael barely had time to block as the Mechanibbit swiped at him with a blade-like claw. The impact sent him skidding back, his boots digging into the ground as he fought to maintain his balance.

Kael gritted his teeth, his hands trembling from the force. But there was no time to rest—he charged forward again.

The rabbit staggered back slightly, its mechanical parts clattering from the vibrations of the ultrasonic blade. Kael didn't waste the opportunity and closed the gap between them.

But monsters were faster and stronger than humans, especially someone as physically diminished as Kael. The Mechanibbit sprang into action, opening its jaws and leaping to bite his head.

Kael had anticipated this. He raised the vibrating sword just in time, letting the rabbit sink its teeth into the blade instead. A loud metallic screech echoed as razor-sharp teeth ground against the oscillating weapon, creating a cacophony of clattering noise.

Smirking, Kael swung the Mechanibbit toward the ground with all his strength. The grotesque creature crashed onto the grass, rolling several times before coming to a stop. Shaking its head, it quickly got back on its feet.

"This is how it should be," Kael muttered, glancing at his hands. After acknowledging just how weak he had become compared to his peak, his body had started adapting. He could now move with better coordination. Though he wasn't yet fast or agile, his improved timing was leagues ahead of when a simple landing could send him sprawling.

He noticed the Mechanibbit advancing toward him again. With a confident smile, Kael sprinted forward to meet it head-on.

The Mechanibbit let out a piercing robotic roar as it leaped again, its jaws wide open.

Kael blocked the attack with his sword, activating the ultrasonic blade at the moment of impact. The weapon's vibrations coursed through the grotesque rabbit, causing its entire body to shudder violently.

Seizing the opportunity, Kael hurled the Mechanibbit to the ground for a second time. A cacophony of clattering metal echoed, and small mechanical parts scattered from its body.

Without giving it a chance to recover, Kael drove the sword into the creature's open mouth. The vibrating blade pierced its metallic throat, and the harsh grinding of metal against metal reverberated through the air.

"Heh, take this," Kael chuckled, twisting the sword with both hands.

The monster let out a grotesque cry, a twisted mix of a rabbit's wail and the sound of an overheating machine.

But just as Kael began to relish his small victory, his battle-hardened senses, honed by decades of fighting, warned him of incoming danger. Acting purely on instinct, he rolled forward, narrowly evading the threat.

Rising swiftly to his feet, Kael spotted a second Mechanibbit glaring at him, its red robotic eye glowing menacingly.

"Two," Kael muttered, his voice steady and unfazed.

"Hey, why don't we run?" Trey's voice suddenly rang out from the side. "Trust me, bro, we can't handle this!"

Kael shot a glance at the young man and smirked. "You can run if you're scared."

"I'm not scared! I just value my life!" Trey retorted with a serious expression before his eyes lit up in admiration. "Wait, you actually know how to fight? That's so cool, dude!"

"Nothing serious," Kael replied, turning his focus back to the two rabbits. The first Mechanibbit, despite the damage it had sustained, was already back on its feet.

"Don't be so humble. Anyway, let's run! There's two of them now! With your fighting skills and my genius planning, we could take one down with enough preparation!" Trey's voice brimmed with excitement. Watching Kael in action had convinced him—this crazy man claiming to be the Kael Draven wasn't just all talk. In fact, he was clearly better at fighting than Trey was.

But without a proper Exosuit or weapons powerful enough to obliterate these monsters, there was no way they could win against two. Even with the ultrasonic sword Kael wielded, its effectiveness depended on both the durability of the enemy and the wielder's strength. If Kael couldn't withstand the weapon's vibrations coursing through his hands, it wouldn't be enough to deal significant damage to the Mechanibbits.

"So let's go, dude! We can kill them one at a t—" Trey's sentence was cut off as Kael dashed headlong toward the two monsters.

"F*ck, not again!" Trey groaned, his face scrunched in worry. Kael, a total noob in his eyes, was blatantly ignoring his advice. And here Trey was, someone with a year of Gray hunting experience, practically pleading for them to escape from monsters he knew could kill them in an instant.

But what happened next left Trey speechless.

"What the hell?!" he exclaimed, his jaw dropping.

Kael wasn't just holding his own against the two Mechanibbits—he was gaining the upper hand!

The half-rabbit, half-robot creatures could do nothing but snap their razor-sharp teeth at the vibrating sword, only to be flung back onto the ground moments later.

It was like watching a deadly dance, set to a chaotic symphony of clattering metal, vibrating machinery, and heavy thuds. And in the center of it all was Kael, the self-proclaimed legendary White Prime. He wasn't moving particularly fast, but every movement was precise, as if he could foresee the rabbits' attacks and counter their trajectories effortlessly.

"This… this is impossible," Trey muttered, swallowing hard. Beads of cold sweat formed on his forehead as he watched in stunned silence.
