บท 78: Chapter 79: Sting all Enemies to Death, Suzumebachi!

???

Senju Makoto and Soi Fon

At that moment, Makoto and Fon simultaneously raised their heads, staring in shock at Yoruichi.

Yoruichi, however, showed no intention of withdrawing her command. Her mesmerizing golden eyes merely flicked toward Fon in an almost dismissive glance.

Fon's petite frame trembled for a moment before swiftly drawing her zanpakutō.

"Sting all Enemies to Death, Suzumebachi!"

Instantly, Fon's zanpakutō transformed into an ornate golden gauntlet on her hand, which she used to strike directly at the nearby Makoto.

In the blink of an eye, Makoto barely managed to tilt his head to the side, the gauntlet brushing past his ear. A black butterfly-shaped marking appeared where Suzumebachi had grazed him.

Makoto instinctively moved to counter, but Fon's nimble body twisted gracefully, not only evading his attack but also locking her legs around his head. With a sharp pivot, she threw Makoto violently to the ground.

Watching this unfold, Yoruichi chuckled and said,

"Makoto, Fon is one of the most elite members of the Onmitsukidō. No matter what feelings she harbors for you, when it comes to orders from the Commander, she'll carry them out without hesitation. You'd better take this seriously. If Suzumebachi strikes you in the same spot twice… you'll die."

As Makoto, now thrown off balance, prepared to release his zanpakutō, he suddenly felt his hands empty. His zanpakutō, Shinro Banshō, had already landed in Yoruichi's grasp.

Yoruichi weighed the zanpakutō in her hand, her smile playful as she remarked,

"It's quite a well-crafted zanpakutō, but since this is shunpo training, Makoto, you'll have to manage without releasing it."

???

Are you sure this is just shunpo training and not some kind of no-equipment death match?

Makoto knew his skills were far from balanced. Beyond his zanpakutō's abilities, his proficiency in kidō and hakuda was barely at an entry-level standard.

Even in shunpo, where he showed relative strength, he was no match for Soi Fon, who had undergone years of personal training under Yoruichi and was poised to take on future leadership roles in both the Second Division and the Onmitsukidō.

To make matters worse, Fon could amplify her spiritual pressure with her shikai, while he was expected to fight barehanded?

Before Makoto could voice his frustrations, Fon reappeared at his side in an instant, Suzumebachi's glinting edge aimed directly at his eyes.

Whoosh!

Makoto ducked sharply, Suzumebachi skimming past his hair. But as if anticipating his reaction, Fon followed with a knee strike, driving straight toward his jaw.

Bang!

At such close range, even though Makoto's spiritual physique wasn't weaker than Fon's, the stark gap in their hakuda abilities meant he was easily overpowered and sent flying once more.

Repeated setbacks—especially in front of Soi Fon—stirred a rare frustration within Makoto's otherwise calm demeanor. His eyes reddened slightly as his thoughts, tangled in self-doubt, were gradually overtaken by the intensity of the fight.

With Fon relentlessly closing in, Makoto's scattered thoughts vanished, his focus sharpening as his instincts awakened.

Too slow. I can see it…

Left side!

There's an opening… counter!

Bit by bit, the seemingly one-sided fight began to shift. Makoto started evading and countering with increasing efficiency. His shunpo speed and technique visibly improved, not only by absorbing Yoruichi's teachings but also by mimicking Soi Fon's moves.

Suddenly, a figure appeared beside Yoruichi, observing from a distance. He had short, slightly messy pale yellow hair, a light stubble on his chin, and an air of unkempt laziness. Draped over his shoulders was the captain's haori emblazoned with the kanji for "Twelve."

"You're late, Kisuke," Yoruichi said with a hint of irritation.

"Ah, well…"

The Twelfth Division Captain, Urahara Kisuke, scratched his head awkwardly, clearly deflecting. He asked,

"So, this is the disciple of Unohana-senpai?"

"Indeed…" Yoruichi nodded, her tone teasing.

"In some ways, he's uncannily like you—a chaotic mess even in combat. Fighting seems more like a mental exercise for him, calculating endless variables. If he's not forced into restrictions, you can barely sense any pure fighting instinct."

"Ha-ha…" Kisuke laughed nervously, wisely refraining from commenting. Watching Makoto's battered form, he couldn't help but recall some unpleasant memories.

Back when he trained under Yoruichi, she had pushed him to his limits, even unleashing her barely controllable shunko to force his instincts to awaken. Only under such extreme pressure had his body internalized advanced shunpo techniques.

Counting the many black butterfly marks on Makoto's body, Kisuke clicked his tongue and remarked,

"Yoruichi, aren't you worried Soi Fon might accidentally kill him? If that happens, Unohana-senpai's wrath might take us both out."

"Don't worry, Makoto is progressing quickly…" Yoruichi replied before smirking mischievously.

"And judging by the pattern, it looks like Fon plans to turn him into a beehive rather than repeat her strikes."

Noticing Kisuke's sidelong glare, Yoruichi met his gaze unflinchingly.

"What? Are you going to complain that I didn't take good care of you back then? Almost making me bear the guilt of killing my best friend?"

"…"

Kisuke muttered under his breath,

"You'd carry guilt; I'd lose my life…"

With that, he handed Yoruichi a white doll-like object, saying,

"Here, the Tenshintai you asked for. I've already calibrated it."

Unbothered, Yoruichi accepted the Tenshintai and casually asked,

"What've you been working on lately? You look like you haven't slept in days."

"Just… some trouble," Kisuke replied, scratching his messy hair as the dark circles under his eyes seemed to deepen.

"I accidentally created something incredibly dangerous, and when I tried to destroy it, I found it was completely indestructible."

Yoruichi's interest piqued.

"Even your bankai couldn't destroy it?"

"Nope. Tried 198 methods, and nothing worked… Anyway, I'll figure something out. See you."

With a troubled expression, Kisuke disappeared by Shunpo.
