Kai decided that he'd focus on nothing more than enjoying his last few days with his mom and Est. He'd have plenty of time to think about the poison and his strength at the Chandrian academy.

It took a few hours to truly clean up. The revisional remedies they made during a hunting trip-such as bathing in a lake–were unacceptable now that they were home. Kai wanted a nice, long, hot bath and he was going to get it.

As he laid back in the tub, eyes closed soap reaching his chin, he saw Est and his mom.

He clearly saw Est's unwavering excitement and his mom's unmendable worry. Smiling, Kai wished that Est would never grow out of her youth, that she'd forever be innocent and free from pain. That could be his plan after he gets his revenge...
