Burp... "That was so satisfying," Kado said, letting out a contented burp. He turned to Fite and added, "Hey, Fite, don't you want to try one of those Devil Fruits? The abilities are pretty unique, you know."
"Tch, even getting one could cost you your life. I'm not about to risk it on some adventure," Fite scoffed.
"We've got money now, right? We can buy one. We could get five or six, and the three of us can each eat one and toss the rest," Kado said, thinking about the billions of Berries in the ship's hold. A sense of happiness filled his heart. After all, billions of Berries were enough for an ordinary family to live off for generations.
"Don't think too much about that money," Fite said, holding up his fingers to start calculating. "I checked it yesterday, and the total value is just over 1.3 billion."
He continued, "Out of that 1.3 billion, a lot of it consists of illegal items, so we'll have to sell those through the black market, which will reduce the value by about half. So, we'll be left with around 800 million. A decent steamship costs about 200 million, and if we need to retrofit it, that'll be a bit more—around 300 million. Then, there's the cost of ingredients and other living necessities that Sanchi and I will need to buy, which will come to another 200 million. I'm also planning to take some time to enjoy a trip to Honey Island, which will cost about 200 million for the three of us. So, we'll be left with only 100 million, which won't be enough at all."
"Hey, hey, no way! As captain, I have to say something," Cardo said with a stern face. "200 million for everything? Are you guys eating money?"
"Don't talk to me about it, go talk to Sanchi," Fite replied. "His old kitchen equipment got mostly lost when the ship sank. Yesterday, he set his eyes on a top-tier kitchen knife that cost ten million! I had to argue with him for ages just to get it down to eight million. Then there's the anti-theft refrigerator, the new type of safe, the two custom fishing boats, and even a bathtub..."
"Stop, stop, don't calculate anymore. If you keep going, I'll cry!" Kado said, feeling helpless. He had originally planned to live a carefree life, but now, in the blink of an eye, he realized just how poor he actually was.
Kado had done extensive research on One Piece in his past life, and he knew that even a single piece of clothing in the world of One Piece could cost tens of thousands of Berries, and a newspaper was worth about 100 Berries.
"By the way, how about we skip the trip to Honey Island?" Cardo asked cautiously.
"No way! If we don't go, I'll fight you!" Fite suddenly stood up, his emotions running high.
Kado was speechless. This guy loved going to Honey Island, and every time they went, he would vanish without a trace. He couldn't understand what was so special about the place that it kept drawing him back. And yet, Fite refused to take him along. Was there some kind of "adult" program there that he couldn't participate in? But he was 15, practically an adult by now!
Kado was puzzled, but he knew Fite wouldn't answer his questions, so he decided to let it go.
"Besides," Fite said, sitting down gracefully, "after eating a Devil Fruit, you become a landlubber. I don't want to make bathing a hassle in the future."
"The bathwater isn't seawater. Devil Fruit users can still bathe, so don't act like all Devil Fruit users are dirty or something," Kado replied, giving Fite an annoyed glance.
"Anyway, I just don't want to eat a Devil Fruit," Fite said firmly, rejecting the idea.
.....
"Freshly made scrambled eggs with tomatoes. Come on, try it and see how it tastes!" Sanchi placed the plate on the table, urging Kado to try it.
"This is scrambled eggs with tomatoes?!" Kado exclaimed, staring at the plate in front of him. In the dish, dark, lumpy pieces were mixed with bright red tomatoes, and it looked completely different from the scrambled eggs with tomatoes he was used to eating.
"I've poured a special sauce over the scrambled eggs, then mixed it with raw tomatoes that have been sprinkled with sugar. This is my new invention. It's definitely going to taste great—hurry up and try it!" Sanchi said, his eyes sparkling, eager for Kado to taste it.
Kado picked up a piece of the egg, not sensing anything poisonous, and popped it into his mouth.
Ptooey...
Kado spat the egg out and shouted, "What is this crap? Is this even food? Why is the egg so sour?"
"Scrambled eggs with tomatoes, of course, is meant to be eaten with the tomatoes," Sanchi said, expressionless, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "Eating just the egg alone is definitely going to taste bad."
"Is that so?" Kado picked up a piece of tomato, examined it carefully. The chopped tomato had white sugar sprinkled on top, so it seemed like there shouldn't be any problem.
However, just to be cautious, Kado selected a smaller piece of tomato and put it into his mouth.
Ptooey...
Kado nearly collapsed, spitting out the tomato, and muttered angrily, "God, I'll never eat tomatoes again!"
"Wahahaha, you brat actually dared to prank this chef during the daytime, be careful I'll add some spices to all your meals from now on, hahaha" Sanchi laughed triumphantly, finally getting his revenge for being pranked by Kado earlier.
"Damn. Making something so disgusting, don't you have any sense of a chef's ethics?" Kado grabbed the plate and slammed it onto Sanchi's face.
"Hmph, a chef who dares to innovate will inevitably create some bad dishes while experimenting with new cooking methods. That's just unavoidable." Wiping the remnants off his face, Sanchi grabbed a kitchen knife and began to wrestle with Kado.
Fite glanced at the two overly energetic guys and sighed in disbelief. They were always fooling around, acting like little kids. At least I'm the mature one here!
Clang...
A large wok suddenly fell from the sky, landing right on Fite's head.
In an instant, Fite's blood rushed to his head, his neck turning red. His previous thoughts were instantly forgotten as he charged at the two fighting men.
"You two damn idiots, can't you be more careful?!"

As time passed, the celebrating crowds in Logue Town gradually dispersed and returned home to rest. Kado and the others also planned to head back and get some rest.
"Ahhhh, that felt so good!" Kado cried out as he walked, howling like a ghost.
"Damn it, I lost a fork! If I find out who stole it, I'll roast them!" Sanchi grumbled as he searched for his missing fork after leaving.
"Shut up, you're too loud" Fite scolded.
"Oh, right!" Kado suddenly remembered something and turned to Sang Ji, asking, "Sanchi, don't you want to try a Devil Fruit?"
"As a great chef, the most painful thing is not being able to personally capture fresh ingredients," Sanchi declared boldly. "The sea is the richest treasure trove of ingredients in the world. I don't want to be hated by the sea!"
"What the hell is wrong with you two? One says Devil Fruit users are dirty, and the other thinks they're annoying. Isn't my ability cool?" Kado sighed.
"Cool my ass," Fite and Sanchi both retorted in unison.
.....
The next day at noon, when the sun was hot enough to roast your backside, on the Cardo ship:
"Get up, you lazy bums!" Fite kicked Kado and Sanchi, who were both sound asleep.
"Ah, is it time to eat?"
"Ah, is it time to cook?"
Kado and Sanchi groggily woke up and asked,
"It's already noon? How long are you two planning to sleep?!" Fite shouted angrily, completely unaware that he himself had just woken up.
"So tired... I stayed up too late last night. Let me sleep a little longer," Kado said, and with a loud thud, he flopped back down on the bed.
"Yeah, you're right. Let me sleep a little longer," Sanchi said, lying back down.
"Hey, Captain, didn't you say we were going to Honey Island yesterday? You haven't forgotten, right?" Fite asked.
"Mm-hmm, go ahead, go ahead... let me sleep a little longer," Kado mumbled in response, still half-asleep.
"That's exactly what I was waiting for," Fite said, turning around and steering the Kado ship towards Honey Island.
