บท 115: Chapter 115: The Death of Qiao Lao

"Alert! Shield energy at 53% remaining!"

Though the T4 ships had suffered significant losses, the flagship itself was still relatively intact.

The Melo Sisters' alternative decapitation strike wasn't as successful as planned, only reducing about half of the shield's energy. After unloading all their ammunition, the four T4 Scorpions cloaked themselves and began returning to base. Ai Er, leading the logistics fleet, was now en route to the battlefield. If the Scorpions moved quickly, they might be able to return for a second bombing run.

Back on the command deck of the Hurricane, Feng Mo's eyes gleamed as he watched the radar display. He gave a low, focused command:

"Perfect timing. T4 Blades and Shields, fire all pulse torpedoes to scatter their formation! T4 Kangaroos, charge your main and secondary cannons and fire at will. Hurricane, charge main and secondary cannons, targeting the enemy flagship!"

With a flurry of orders, the assault began. The T4 Blades and Shields, though classified as armor-focused ships, were equipped with powerful 950mm pulse torpedoes that packed immense firepower.

Sixty pulse torpedoes streaked forward. While slower than missiles and moving in a straight path, making them somewhat easier to intercept, Qiao Lao's fleet had already taken heavy damage from the Scorpions. With six out of ten T4 ships destroyed, their interception capability was greatly reduced.

But Qiao Lao was a seasoned commander. Seeing that his fleet couldn't avoid taking damage, he decided to trade blows.

"Have all ships charge main and secondary cannons, locking onto the enemy fleet with auto-targeting systems. Fire!"

He issued the command calmly, aiming for precision strikes since a wide-area bombardment was now impractical. However, the Storm Fleet's shields were still intact, and even a precise volley wouldn't be enough to destroy any of the ships. The outer layer of T4 Blades and Shields and their close-in defense cannons continued intercepting incoming fire.

Additionally, the two T4 interceptor-type biological ships, specially designed for intercepting attacks, created a plasma shield. Streams of bio-electric plasma spread like a massive web, blocking most of the incoming fire and illuminating the dark interstellar space.

"Commander, the T4 antimatter cannon and T4 ion laser cannon are fully charged. Awaiting your command!"

"Lock onto the enemy flagship. Fire! And prepare the quasi-T5 star-destroyer cannon for charging!"

Upon Feng Mo's command, the Hurricane's six main cannons flared, launching six beams straight toward the enemy flagship.

In Qiao Lao's command center, a succession of alarms sounded.

"Warning! Flagship locked by enemy Hurricane! Shield energy at 53%. Auto-defense system activated. Close-in defense cannons intercepting incoming fire."

While close-in cannons could effectively intercept missiles and torpedoes, they were much less effective against main laser cannons, with only about a 13% interception rate, according to Federation statistics. And the large-caliber beams from the Hurricane would be especially difficult to stop.

As the alarms blared and before Qiao Lao could respond, the six beams struck.

Boom!

The beams shattered the flagship's shield, punching through its hull. Deafening sounds of shattering armor filled the command center as the hull fractured under the impact.

Crew members were flung back by the massive force, emergency lights flashed red throughout the ship, and alarms sounded in every corridor. Hull breaches revealed the vastness of space outside, and explosions rocked the vessel, engulfing Qiao Lao and his crew in flames.

Feng Mo watched as the enemy flagship was consumed in a secondary explosion. He didn't know what Qiao Lao's final thoughts might have been, nor did he care. He only knew that this battle was his victory. The Demon Star System would soon have a new ruler.

The destruction of a fleet's flagship usually means a severe morale blow. Feng Mo seized the opportunity to press forward:

"Deploy all T3 Sea Lions to release T3 drones and bombers, targeting every T3 enemy ship. Unload all remaining ordnance and then return!"

"Storm Fleet, ready all ships. Fire main and secondary cannons!"

With his orders, nearly a hundred ships lit up with beams of energy. Hundreds of lasers created a net of firepower that ensnared the enemy fleet.

The enemy fleet was torn apart, many ships blasted into fragments, while others were rendered inoperable. Twenty T4 Kangaroos zeroed in on each enemy T4 ship with pinpoint strikes, leaving the enemy as sitting targets with minimal retaliation.

Feng Mo deliberately held back the T3 Boxers from firing their missiles; they were too costly to waste when the enemy could be taken down by regular fire. After all, he still had over a thousand enemy ships in need of a Boxer barrage.

On the radar display, red dots representing enemy ships were fading fast, with the remaining few immobilized.

"Hua Qin, inform Ai Er to begin clearing the battlefield. Leave ten T4 Kangaroos and twenty T4 Blades and Shields to guard Ai Er. Prepare the fleet to depart for the reinforcement zone."

"Understood!"

Just then, a video request came through. Feng Mo opened it to find Ai Er in the command room of one of the T4 Scorpions, looking somewhat timid, as if she expected Feng Mo to scold her.

Seeing Ai Er looking like a nervous kitten, Feng Mo softened his tone and smiled.

"Hua Qin, you'll stay here with twenty T4 Kangaroos and twenty T4 Blades and Shields to help with the cleanup. Ai Er, take the four T4 Scorpions ahead to strike the enemy with a bombing run. After that, return to the Hurricane—understand?"

Relieved by Feng Mo's tone, Ai Er's face brightened with a sweet smile. She nodded before ending the call, her demeanor quickly shifting to steely resolve.

"Commander's orders: four T4 Scorpions to proceed to the battlefield!"

"Understood!"

Watching Ai Er on the screen, Feng Mo sighed. She carried a heavy burden of hatred, which he could understand. But he couldn't let this happen again; once they returned, he would need to give her a firm reminder. Disobedience was not a habit he could tolerate.

As the Storm Fleet made its way to the reinforcement zone, Chu Yunjian and Hua Yucheng had merged their fleets, adopting a carrier-based formation with the two quasi-T5 flagships at the center, encircled by layers of defensive screens formed by destroyers and frigates.

The two quasi-T5 star carriers they commanded were backed by two T4 industrial ships each. Their enhanced T4 drones intercepted the Demon Fleet's incoming attacks and countered effectively, inflicting heavy losses through attrition.
