"Hopefully she likes these" I set on the edge of the bed while grabbing the white bag that was folded on the end.
I had went out into the city just to get this pastry, I remember how much Ella loved it during our first stay in the capital. Those times were full of both anxiety and amazement, After all we were two kids from a small village who were introduced to a completely different world.
'Banquets and incredible food' I reminisced yet I couldn't help but remember the annoying things as well.
'Like nobles' I still remember the time Ella had been hit on by the heir to some random family at our first banquet.
"Ha.." I let out a sigh and let my back hit the bed while staring at the majestic chandelier just overhead.
'Ella should be here soon' My eyes glanced toward the balcony where the moonlight was illuminating the sky.
I couldn't decide whether or not I liked the sunrise better or the almost blue light from the moon. My thought actually reminded me of an old story that people in the village used to tell, It was one of those bed times tails that parents talked about to get their children to sleep.
That the sun was the goddess shining brightly and illuminated the world, While the moon was the demon king who wanted to steal the light and keep the world in endless darkness. Perhaps that's why despite hating the morning I always tried to be ready to start my day, Was it not the Hero's duty to greet the goddess when she awoke.
'i might as well meditate for a bit' I sat up pushing myself back on the bed while crossing my legs.
I channeled my mana letting it spread throughout my body and feeling warmth engulfing me, I closed my eyes letting my thoughts fade away. My breathing slowed down just enough to keep my heart beating leaving me in a complete state of peace, It was truly an addictive feeling that.
'….' I stayed silent letting my breaths escape yet I started to feel confused as the time slowly passed by.
I expected Ella to show up at any moment but as the seconds went by my room remained silent and my door closed. I opened one of my eyes and glanced toward the balcony once more seeing the sky seemingly darker than before, A soft sigh left my mouth along with a wistfully voice.
"She really needs to stop training so hard" I muttered as my eyes closed and I entered the peaceful state once more.
'….' Yet after more time passed I found it harder and harder to keep my mind completely blank.
'She's probably bathing' I told myself while taking a deep breath and trying to push my thoughts away.
My breathing turned calm once more as the crisp air filled my lungs. There was a stark difference between the air in the capital and the village I had grown up. It was almost as if it was higher quality and more refreshing, But as I took soft breaths I could feel my finger starting to tape on my leg with anxiety.
'…Did she…' I opened my eyes feeling my heart growing heavy before I smiled and rolled my eyes.
"She probably just had something to do" I muttered while slowly looking toward the balcony once more.
'….' Yet I couldn't help but wonder what could make her run so late when it was already almost midnight.
'I'll go find her and make sure she didn't fall asleep' I quickly stood up from the bed and was surprised by how shaky my legs were.
She must have fallen asleep after all there was no way Ella wouldn't have come to my room after saying she would. I slipped on a pair of socks and looked back at the bag of pastries I had gotten before opening the door, A hallway full of shadows filled my vision.
'Me and Ella used to be scared to leave our rooms at night' I chuckled remembering the past as my feet slit across the smooth and cold floor.
