The adventurers advanced slowly, expertly disarming traps as they moved deeper into the dungeon.
The Stone Grinder trap was triggered next, but the leader quickly gave a hand signal, and one of the men stepped forward, dismantling it with a few swift movements.
"Efficient," Seth muttered.
But he wasn't done yet.
The Poison Gas Chamber still lay ahead, but he needed to time it perfectly.
Suddenly, a presence brushed against Seth's awareness, another dungeon had just activated its influence nearby.
The rival dungeon master.
"Are they working together,?" Seth realized.
The adventurers weren't just here by coincidence.
They had been sent to test him, maybe even weaken him before the other dungeon made its move.
"But how were they working together?"
His options were narrowing.
He quickly opened the dungeon interface again, assessing the situation.
His mana reserves were recovering steadily, but it wouldn't be long before the rival dungeon master made their play.
He commanded the Greater Shade to reinforce the wraith and set the Elite Shade Stalker on standby for an ambush.
With both shadows in play, Seth hoped to overwhelm the intruders with stealth and precision strikes.
The adventurers were nearing the poison gas chamber.
Seth waited until the leader signaled for his group to move into position, then activated it.
A loud hiss filled the corridor as thick, toxic gas poured from hidden vents in the walls.
The intruders reacted instantly, pulling out cloth masks and covering their mouths and noses, but it was clear they weren't fully prepared for such a trap.
Two of the soldiers hesitated, faltering as the gas seeped through their masks, while the leader pushed forward, barking orders to his men.
"Now," Seth whispered, sending the Dark Flame Wraith and the Greater Shade into action.
The wraith moved like a shadowy blur, its dark flames flickering as it surged toward the weakened adventurers.
In one swift motion, it engulfed the nearest soldier, its fiery tendrils wrapping around him as his muffled screams echoed through the chamber.
The leader turned, his eyes narrowing as he spotted the wraith.
"Focus fire!" he shouted, and his men quickly raised their weapons, launching a coordinated attack.
But the wraith was too fast, evading their strikes and slipping back into the shadows.
At the same time, the Greater Shade emerged from behind, striking another soldier with a brutal blow that sent him crashing into the wall.
The leader's expression hardened.
He can't expect this level of resistance.
Good, Seth thought.
Let them struggle.
But the battle wasn't over.
As the surviving soldiers regrouped, the leader activated a glowing amulet around his neck, and suddenly, the air around them shimmered with energy.
"A barrier?" Seth cursed under his breath.
The leader was using some sort of magic to shield his team from further attacks.
The Dark Flame Wraith circled the barrier, searching for a weakness, but the flames couldn't penetrate it.
For a moment, the two sides were locked in a stalemate.
Seth's creatures prowled around the edges of the shield, while the adventurers regrouped within, catching their breath.
But Seth knew he couldn't let them rest for long.
He opened the dungeon interface again, weighing his next move.
With his mana reserves at 650, he still had options, but they were dwindling.
No, he needed to be smart.
The rival dungeon was still out there, and this group was just the first wave.
There would be more.
He swiftly went through his arsenal to look for a solution to the barrier and then remembered a few.
Without hesitation, he activated the Essence drain on them

Sadly, though, the essence drain only assisted in weakening the barrier a little.

The once-stalwart barrier, designed to repel even the fiercest attacks, was now visibly weakening.
The leader, still holding his glowing amulet, glanced around in confusion.
He could sense that something was draining the barrier's strength but had no idea what was causing it.
"Stay sharp!" the leader barked, his voice tinged with frustration as the shimmering energy around them began to flicker.
Seth kept his focus on the essence drain, knowing he had to strike while the adventurers were still disoriented.
The Dark Flame Wraith circled the group, its fiery tendrils flickering with anticipation, but Seth held it back.
He needed to wait for the barrier to fail before launching the next attack.

"Good. That'll buy me time."
But time was running short.
He knew the rival dungeon master would make their move soon.

Seth quickly scanned the dungeon status screen.
His mana reserves were holding steady, but the adventurers were still a significant threat, even with the barrier weakening.
He needed to take decisive action.
His gaze landed on one of his newer traps: the Gravity Well, a recent addition that he hadn't yet tested in battle.
It was designed to create an area of extreme gravitational pull, immobilizing anything caught within it for a short time.
Perfect.
Seth grinned, knowing that this trap could be the key to turning the tide completely in his favor.
He mentally issued the command, activating the Gravity Well beneath the adventurers' feet.
