บท 6: Chapter 6
It was already the end of the month and tomorrow were the exams. As far as Chumley told me, we are gonna have a practical exam and also a written exam.
Not much has happened these days. I dueled 68 different duelists in those passing days, some were from Slifer, others were from Ra and the rest were from Obelisk. A couple of students even try dueling me using the ante rule but ultimately lost so my rare cards collection increased by a bit. My deck also evolved a bit more for some reason. Is my deck scare of something for it to constantly evolve like this? It never used to do that before.
"Oh well" I sighed.
Ultimately all these duels only resulted in me getting quite a good reputation or bad. It depends on how you view it really. I got the nickname 'Hakaisha' or 'The one who destroys' or in simple term 'The Destroyer'. Why did I get such a weird nickname? Well it's mostly due to my style of play.
Anyways life's been fun these couple of days. No stress, no nightmares, actually fun time talking to the gang.
I inhaled my cigarette while looking at the ocean near the harbor. The sunset made the view look almost majestic.
"You know kid, students aren't allowed to smoke in this school." a voice called me from behind.
I turned around to see a man wearing the Obelisk blue uniform standing behind me. He looks older than me. So he must be someone from the 2nd year or 3rd year?
"You are?"
However he didn't respond to me.
'Suit you i guess weirdo.' I kept staring at the ocean while smoking at my cigarette.
Even though the cigarette was only half way used, I extinguish the cigarette and threw it in the bin before leaving the place.
"See ya pal." I said to the guy before leaving.
Now that I think about it, I only got 3 cigarettes left, I shouldn't have thrown that one....fuck!
I kept walking and finally reach the Slifer Red dorm. Once I opened the door, I was met with what I actually thought would happen. Syrus was studying with all of his might, Chumley was eating and Jaden was playing video games.
"Sy, just calm down, it's gonna fine." Jaden said to Syrus.
"Oh Kai is here."
"Hey what you guys doing?"
"Oh nothing bro, Sy is just stressing out from tomorrow exams."
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN IM STRESSING OUT JA!!!! WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHANGE OUR DORM TOMORROW OF COURSE I'M GONNA BE STRESS!!"
"Well chill out Sy."
"Would you guys even change dorm if you get the chance to?" I asked the three of them.
They were all a bit reluctant to answer. However Jaden spoke first.
"Me. Probably not. This is right now my home and you guys are like my family."
"Me also, I already flunked my first years so I'm already used to this room a lot. And I am also more likely to fail again."
"Cheer up Chum."
"What about you Kai?"
"I wouldn't mind moving, however I don't think I'm moving in my first year."
"Oh and why is that?"
"I hate the color yellow."
"What?"
"I don't yellow. So there is no way I'm wearing yellow for a year."
"What about you Syrus?"
"I don't know."
"It's already Sy."
"I don't mean it in a disrespectful way Ja. I want to become a great duelist like you and Kai. But the only way I can become like you guys is by climbing the rank at this school."
We all stared at him.
"Listen Sy. You are a good duelist but you just confidence you know. Like it's fine if you want to move out, it's totally normal."
"He is right Syrus. You just lack confidence and that what turn good duelists into great duelists and great duelists into champions."
"Anyways keep revising if you want to one to day reach Jaden level at best."
"What do you mean my level?" I just ignored him.
"Anyways imma take a nap. Wake me in an hour guys." I said before hitting the bed.
*The next day*
"Oh god of dueling, please let me reach Ra yellow. Let the reborn happen and make me a better duelist Slifer. Help me pass the exam."
"Syrus what are you doing?"
"I'm praying why Kai?"
"Well keep praying, i'm leaving, also wake Jaden up."
"Alright. Oh great Sli-"
"Great." I said before shutting the door.
I began running towards the exam room since I was already 10 minutes late.
"Oh kai, come take your paper." Banner call me out as I was about to sit down.
20 minutes had already passed by since I came to the exam room and Jaden finally showed up.
'The test isn't hard however it's dumb or I am dumb for thinking that the paper is dumb or am I dumb for not thinking that the paper is gonna be dumb when it naturally should be dumb which means that I'm dumb for thinking that the paper is dumb....whatever I'm already done so it's pointless now.'
"Time's up." Banner screamed to the class in his usual calm voice.
'Wait what! It's already time.'
"ATTENTION DUELISTS, THE RARE CARDS HAS BEEN DISTRIBUTED TO THE SCHOOL SHOP!!"
"What! Rare cards" "We should go before the rest." "Yeah you are right."
Students began rushing towards school shop the moment Banner was done collecting each sheets.
"Oh hey Bastion, you alright?"
"Yeah i'm fine, how about you?"
"Been doing great."
"Jaden, Syrus wake up." I said to the two while shaking them.
"uH..WhAt..slifer...wait...AHHH i slept through my paper." Syrus said looking down.
*yawn*
"Oh man...i guess the real exam is the practical exam. Where is everybody else?" Jaden asked.
"They went to the school shop to get the new rare cards and strengthen their decks."
"Rare cards??"
"Yes Syrus, rare cards. If you are fast enough you could get a few cards."
"Ja we have to buy some to make our deck stronger."
"I mean sure but hey why did you not go there??"
"My deck is already perfect."
"Mine doesn't need any form of strengthening to be honest."
Syrus got up from his seat.
"Ja let's go!!"
All three of them began rushing towards the school shop however I decided to scroll around the corridors mostly because I felt lazy to go to the shop and there is generally no way I am going to run after an exam.
*Practical exam*
I was currently in the arena waiting for my opponent however to my surprise there was no-one.
"Dr Crowler. I think there is problem here. I don't have an opponent."
"Uh..."
"Mr Kai." A voice called me out from behind.
"Chancellor Sheppard!"
"Well listen son, we don't have an opponent in Slifer Red at your level right now you see, so by criteria you are automatically promoted to Ra yellow son."
"...that's not fair tho."
"It isn't but we don't have the choice."
"Oh come on, I waited for this exams all day. Can't I just duel someone from another dorm."
"Uhmmm...i mean you can."
"So i'll duel someone from another dorm."
"Dr Crowler. Arrange a duelist for him i guess."
"Yes chancellor. Just give me two minutes."
2 minutes later, Crowler came and told us that they were no students that I could duel right now itself.
"How about I duel you Chancellor?"
"I can't duel my students."
"Wait but we al-"
"I CAN'T DUEL MY STUDENTS." Sheppard said upping his tone a bit while looking at me trying to signal me something.
'I see.'
"A friendly match then since I am already in Ra yellow. How about you and Dr Crowler to make it more fair." I said while smiling.
"Excuse me!!" Crowler said bewildered by this.
Sheppard sighed.
"Since you want to duel so badly. Both me and Crowler are gonna duel you."
"Wait but Chancellor this is un-"
"Crowler it's a 2 v 1. Me and you vs him. It's a friendly match."
"Yes Chancellor."
"Well then let's duel."
