"About Mr. Ryker…" Frederick's eyes stayed on the road, but he hummed, indicating that she had his attention. "His legs…have they always been like that?"

Frederick contemplated for a minute before shaking his head. He then spoke. "As far as I remember, he was alright when I was younger. But Grandma said he got shot in his right leg. And since then, he's been in a wheelchair."

Ashley felt her heart thump at his words. Her posture straightened and she tensed as she kept her eyes on the road. "Do-do you know who shot him?" Frederick pursed his lips. "Grandma never went into detail about it. She said it was an accident." Ashley gulped.

Accident

She felt a gnawing sense of guilt. "Why do you ask?" Frederick inquired as he pulled the car to a stop at a parking lot. Ashley shook her head, dispelling her random thoughts. "Nothing. Just curious." She looked around. "Where are we?" She asked, trying to change the topic.
