บท 5: Chapter 5: The First Experiment

Himawan stood in the center of his makeshift lab, deep within the abandoned warehouse. The place was still barren, but his mind buzzed with purpose. His newly acquired knowledge from Doctor Genus filled him with the confidence to begin his first experiment. This would be the first step in his path to mastery over life itself. He wasn't merely a scientist anymore—he was a creator, someone who would shape the evolution of humanity, but in this world of superhumans, that meant starting small.

The warehouse was dimly lit, with a few scattered lights hooked up to old generators. The air was thick with dust, but Himawan didn't care. He was far too absorbed in the task at hand to notice the grime that clung to his surroundings. His hands moved methodically, gathering the basic materials he had managed to acquire from the black market. Syringes, vials, and crude lab equipment were spread out on a metal table in front of him. It wasn't much, but it was enough to get started.

The first experiment…

He hadn't been in this world long, but he understood that time was of the essence. The Marvel Universe was a place of constant chaos—where powerful beings clashed on a regular basis, and each day brought new threats. If he wanted to survive, to thrive, he couldn't afford to hesitate.

His gaze shifted to the corner of the room, where a man sat slumped against the wall, unconscious. He was a homeless man, someone who had been living on the streets for as long as anyone could remember. Himawan had found him wandering the lower districts of the city, half-starved and barely conscious. In this world, where people disappeared every day, no one would miss him.

Himawan approached the man, his steps slow and deliberate. There was no hesitation in his movements, no second thoughts about what he was about to do. The knowledge of Doctor Genus was clear in his mind: this was the next step in the evolutionary process. The man was nothing more than a vessel, a subject for Himawan to test his theories on.

The system had been quiet since granting him the Genus template, but its presence still lingered in his thoughts, as if waiting to see what he would do next. It hadn't given him any explicit instructions about how to proceed, but Himawan didn't need it. The knowledge coursing through his mind was enough.

He crouched down beside the man, his red eyes gleaming with a cold detachment. Slowly, he reached for a syringe filled with a clear liquid. This serum was his creation—a mixture of chemicals and altered DNA sequences designed to accelerate cellular regeneration and enhance physical strength. It was rudimentary compared to what he would eventually be capable of, but it was enough for a first test.

"It's time to see what this world is truly made of," Himawan muttered to himself, his voice barely above a whisper.

With steady hands, he injected the serum into the man's arm, watching as the liquid disappeared into his veins. For a moment, nothing happened. The man remained still, his chest rising and falling with shallow breaths. Himawan's expression remained calm, but his mind raced with calculations. He had accounted for every possible variable, every potential outcome. Now, it was just a matter of waiting.

Seconds ticked by, each one feeling longer than the last. Himawan stood up, stepping back to observe his subject from a distance. The room was eerily quiet, the only sound being the faint hum of the generators. Then, something changed.

The man's body jerked violently, his limbs twitching as if electricity were coursing through him. His breathing became ragged, erratic. Himawan's eyes narrowed, his focus sharpening. The man's skin began to flush, a deep crimson spreading across his body as the serum took effect. Muscles twitched and convulsed beneath the surface, veins bulging and pulsing with unnatural energy.

Himawan watched with an unsettling calm. This was what he had been waiting for.

The man let out a low, guttural groan as his body continued to convulse, his muscles swelling and tightening. His fingers clawed at the ground, his nails digging into the concrete floor as his strength increased exponentially. Himawan could see the serum working, altering the man's biology, forcing his body to adapt to the changes it was undergoing. But it was clear that the process was excruciating.

The man's eyes flew open, wide and bloodshot, his mouth opening in a silent scream. His entire body was shaking now, the muscles beneath his skin bulging grotesquely. It was as if his body couldn't handle the transformation, the sudden influx of power tearing him apart from the inside.

Himawan's brow furrowed slightly, but he made no move to stop the experiment. This was a test, after all, and tests didn't always go according to plan. He needed to see how far the subject could be pushed before the breaking point.

The man's breathing became more labored, each breath a rasping struggle. His skin was now a deep red, his muscles swollen to an unnatural size. He looked like something out of a nightmare—a creature caught between human and something far more monstrous.

Then, just as suddenly as it had started, the convulsions stopped.

The man lay still, his body limp and lifeless. For a moment, Himawan stood in silence, observing the result of his work. The transformation had been incomplete, the subject unable to survive the stress of the process. But that didn't matter. This had only been the first experiment, the first in a long line of tests that would eventually lead him to the answers he sought.

"Interesting," Himawan murmured, his voice devoid of emotion.

He knelt down beside the body, his eyes scanning the subject's features. The man's face was contorted in agony, his muscles still swollen and unnatural even in death. Himawan reached out, placing a hand on the man's chest, feeling the cold, lifeless flesh beneath his fingertips.

This wasn't a failure—it was a learning experience. The knowledge of Doctor Genus had shown him the potential for biological enhancement, but it was clear that there were limits. The human body, even with its capacity for adaptation, could only take so much before it broke.

But that was the point, wasn't it? To find the limits, to push beyond them.

Himawan stood, his mind already racing with new ideas, new theories to test. He needed to refine the serum, to make it more stable, more adaptable to the human physiology of this world. This was only the beginning. There would be more experiments, more subjects, and each one would bring him closer to his goal.

The man before him had been an unfortunate casualty, but in the grand scheme of things, his life was insignificant. Himawan didn't feel guilt or remorse—only a cold, clinical satisfaction. He was one step closer to unlocking the secrets of evolution, to mastering the science that would give him power over this world.

As he turned away from the body, the shadows of the warehouse seemed to close in around him, a fitting backdrop to his dark ambitions. Himawan knew that this was just the start of his journey. The Marvel Universe was vast and filled with challenges, but he had the knowledge and the will to overcome them.

"Soon," Himawan whispered to himself, a faint smile curling his lips. "Soon, this world will know the true power of science."

With that, he began preparing for the next experiment, his mind filled with endless possibilities.
