Well, this fic, like others, is told in the form of a diary or log of Percy Jackson, the son of Poseidon, which he uses as a way to vent the madness that comes with the life of a demigod, a way to avoid going crazy.

Percy Jackson's Log
Entry 2 of this new absurd situation
Date: if I'm not mistaken it's September 10, 2023
I sat down to write today, not because I'm a talented author (spoiler: I'm not), but because madness needs a way to escape. After all, being a demigod doesn't come with an instruction manual, and there's clearly no customer service to help me get out of this situation.
Returning to the subject, I returned to the cave.
The same cave that brought me here, a place I thought would be my ticket back. But guess what: the cave has decided to play hide-and-seek and spoiler alert, I lost it!
I cursed her in a way that would make any Greek god blush, well except for Ares and other warmongers. My words, although the language here is a puzzle, had a very clear tone: "What the Hades?"
So I turned around and walked back to the village I had found the first time. At least there was some civilization here. I used my translation spell, a very useful skill I learned in my years of adventures with demigod friends, my Egyptian friends, and, of course, from a couple of Hermes spells I was taught on one of those crazy nights. It's funny how the most useful things can be the product of desperation.
The inhabitants of this place are a peculiar group. They have features that remind me of the Chinese, and not just because the local food bears an uncanny resemblance to the Chinese food I've tried during other missions in Asia. And the accent they have when they speak also has that musicality, as if the words were a flowing river, although I'm still on the shore trying to understand the meaning because it's not modern Chinese or at least I think so.
Great! Now I'm the new guy who doesn't understand a word they say.
As if that were not enough, I feel like a giant in this place. I'm 6'2'' tall, and everyone here looks like something out of a catalog for people who are 5'3'' tall. Men are like an inch or two taller than that at most, most tall ones and women... Well, let's just say it's hard for me to go unnoticed. I know that being a son of a god, especially one of the big three, one of the strongest gods there is, it's easy for me to stand out even though I want the opposite on several occasions, but I didn't think it would be like a lighthouse in a storm. (1)
Yesterday, while I was trying to make friends (essentially, I stood by people watching and trying not to look like a spy on the fire nation I've heard they talk about), I noticed that some children were laughing at me. I guess it's not common to see a guy in a navy SEAL suit, with my Greek features and my height. I have no idea how to explain that I'm a demigod to a group of children who probably think the 100 Years' War is just a fairy tale.
I've tried to integrate for the moment... or at least not to look like a complete stranger.
Yesterday, I dared to approach a food stall, where an older woman offered me something that smelled of herbs and meat. I didn't understand his question because I forgot to use a translation spell at the time, so I just smiled and nodded.
I paid with some coins, they are by no means the local currency, but for the amount I paid and the woman's face I think it was too much, I guess the metal of the coins is worth more than I imagine.
Anyway, it was a risky choice, but then I sat down on a bench to eat and after three bites, I realized that the plate was made from something I had read in a nature history book. Seriously, I thought it was just a myth, not like mermaids or monsters that are quite real. But here I am, eating something that might be closer to a dragon than a cow.
The taste was... interesting. I could use a little more salt... Or a good nose for ragweed, but that doesn't seem to be on the menu. Luckily, I survived to tell the tale.
As I tried to communicate, people looked at me curiously. I couldn't stop thinking about how this was all a great twist of fate or rather that I am again the entertainment of those three old women.
Deep down, I'm just a guy who's been through a lot of adventures, and here I am, trying not to be the "big foreign fool." The fact that the only useful magic tool I have right now is a translation spell makes me feel a little vulnerable... The magic backpack I have is so I don't run out of ammo for my HK416 and my SIG Sauer M17 pistol, although it also works like Leo's magic belt to store things, but that's it.
I should have brought my imitation of the cornucopia I bought from a lesser god on Olympus, and the magic compass that Rhodes gave me, at least with it I would have known where to go to find my way home.
Another thing, I've noticed that a lot of the people here are friendly, in their own way. Most smile at me, although sometimes they look at me as if I were a phenomenon, others look at me with suspicion. Who likes to be watched? Although that is not a completely new experience.
But paying attention and using the translation spells, it seems that this 100-year war is affecting everyone's life, and while I don't fully understand local politics, I know that everyone is trying to survive. They feel tense, as if every day is a battle... I wonder if there is anything I can do to help, but I am also aware that I do not want to get involved in a war that has nothing to do with me... I've had enough of that in my life.
Being a Navy SEAL is a job for the country in which I was born... and because I enlisted impulsively, but the missions I carry out are not exactly out of 100% pure altruism, sometimes they are counter-terrorism missions, sometimes they are rescue, reconnaissance, etc.
So at the end of the day, all I can do is keep watching, adapting, and waiting for a signal... maybe the cave will peek out again, or better yet, maybe it will find a new way home...
But until then, this diary will be my companion in this madness... And madness has always been my companion, after all.
I hope next time I have better news to share. Or at least a less exotic food recipe to try.
->Percy, the son of Poseidon lost in only Chaos knows where.

Note # 1
Before anyone complains or gets upset about the height of Percy Jackson and the inhabitants of the 4 nations, I have read in some forums about how unreal the heights of comic, book, anime or live-action characters are IF scientific data are taken into account, such as that the height is determined by: diet, physical activity, the environment where a person lives and genetics. At least these four are the main factors, but we'll come back to these later.
The characters in the Avatar series are supposed to be mostly based on Asian peoples, as the soldiers of the Fire Nation somewhat resemble the samurai of Japan, the Earth Kingdom is based on ancient China, the Air Nomads on the Tibetan monks, the sandbenders on the Bedouins and Tuareg. While the water benders of the south and the north in the Inuits, Eskimos or whatever you call them wherever you are reading this.
It is assumed that nowadays Japanese men are on average 1.72 or 1.73 meters (5'8"), of Chinese men, two pieces of information appear on Google: 1.70m and 1.75 meters (5'7" - 5'9"). The Inuit on average are 1.60 meters tall (5'3").
But in the early 2000s the average height was 2 cm to 5 cm less (one or two inches) than today worldwide, and more than 100 years ago, current heights varied on average from 10 cm to 20 cm less (from 4 to 8 inches) depending on which country it was
Which puts Korra's characters at today's average height or slightly above by about 5 cm (two inches) at most with Tenzin and Bumi, with Mako and Ghazan being closer to 1.90 meters (6'2" - 6'3") .
So the character of the Roku avatar who apparently measures 6'8'', was a fucking giant in his time. Nor do the images of adult Aang fit as taller than Zuko and Sokka, when the monk is a vegetarian, he does not get all the nutrients.
Characters from Aang's time should at least measure men like Sokka and his father between 1.65 meters and 1.70 meters (5'5"-5'7") if they are above average in a world that has been ravaged by war for 100 years.
Zuko is supposed to have been about 1.78 meters tall (5'8"-5'9") as an adult, making him the tallest of his friends, but considering his status as a prince for what he had a good or privileged diet, training to master the sword and firebending, his stature is more logical
