(A/N: I AM BAAAAACCKKKKK!)
--- Chapter 41 ---
Tenma slammed the high-level demon with the power of illusion to the ground, squashing his head like a watermelon.
BOOM!
The cave shook violently. Dust flies everywhere.
Although the high-level demon has consumed many humans and reached a superhuman level compared to humans in strength, the illusion demon felt he was small and vulnerable before Tenma.
Of course, the demon has not died yet.
And before the illusion demon could react, a fiery blast of destructive qi exploded and burned him to ashes.
The high-level demon couldn't even scream and died just like that.
Tenma shook his head off as if he was getting rid of something dirty and glanced at the last high-level demon.
The female demon's body trembled greatly. She didn't expect her fellow high-level demons to die like that. One was impaled to the wall by a spear, and the other burned to ashes.
She even forgets to use her Blood Demon Art and runs away from this place.
'The combination of Fire Tao and Solar Force is good,' commented Iris as she rubbed her fair chin. 'Although you can't produce true fire, the heat alone could burn demons to ashes.'
'Let's call this combination Cruel Flare.'
'You didn't even ask for my opinion, huh?' Tenma's mouth twitched slightly.
'Hey, I'm still considered your teacher! So, give me some respect and a little authority to name your skill! Don't worry, Tenma. I will give you cool names from time to time.' Iris laughed like a maniac.
Tenma rolled his eyes. This woman is indeed delusional.
Well, that's the Iris he knew.
[How childish] Hestia snorted.
[Finish that demon already! Something big is going to wake up soon]
Hearing Hestia's warning, Tenma hurriedly nodded and glanced at the last high-level demon.
Gasp!
The female demon shrank her neck and was frightened. Tenma's obsidian eyes in the mask's sockets are terrifying.
She felt like she was staring into the abyss.
"Any last words?" Tenma asked playfully.
"D-Don't kill me!" The female demon replied in fear.
Tenma shook his head, "Not good last words. Unfortunately, I won't give you a second chance."
He stretched his hand and blasted hot air at the female demon, burning her to ashes.
[Ding! You have killed three high-level demons]
[+15,000 Good Karma]
Tenma smiled a little at the appearing notification panel and waved his hand casually, pulling the spear on the nearby cave wall with his mental power.
"Oh, you're done?" A surprised voice echoed in the cave.
Tenma looked at the crooked cave entrance and saw Kanao standing with her double katana. He shrugged and replied, "They are a bit weaker than I expected."
"Then, again. One is caught by surprise, one used illusion which I'm very much immune to, and the last is standing like a duck to slaughter."
Kanao giggled in amusement, "Well, that sounds lame indeed. But even a senior demon slayer would have some difficulty defeating three high-level demons, even with the element of surprise."
"You're just that strong, Tenma-kun. I don't think high-level demons could pose trouble against you anymore."
"Worst case scenario, they have Blood Demon Art that could allow them to run away from you," Kanao said thoughtfully.
She was telling the truth. She and Tenma hunted demons for two years until he suddenly decided to enter solitary training. Even one year ago, she saw Tenma effortlessly hunting and killing demons like they were helpless little rabbits.
Only a commander-level demon could fight Tenma with their 2nd stage Blood Demon Art. Even then, they still die under his spear.
As for general-level demons, they haven't met one yet. According to the Demon Slayer Corps, the appearance of general-level demons is usually followed by bloody air.
"Awww, the fight is over?" Eri appeared, looking at the destroyed cave with a pout. She was expecting a blood-pumping fight, but the fight ended earlier than she could watch.
How unfortunate.
She punched the air, "I want to fight high-level demons too!"
Tenma chuckled and patted Eri's head, "You can when you master your Tao well enough. You can't fight high-level demons in direct exchange."
Eri puffed her cheeks even more, "You know Tao isn't my forte."
Eri's Tao is Wood Element, which enhanced her physique, sense, and healing factor, but her control over it can only be considered decent at best. It's not that she has no talent for Tao, but the Wood Element is too complex for a girl her age.
Although Eri is a genius, she's not a monster like Tenma. The difference between the two is too far.
Eri enjoyed the pat and remembered something, "You know I wouldn't get taller if you kept patting me, right?"
"Who said that?"
"Shinobu Nee-chan!"
Tenma also gave Eri a helpless look and said, "Shinobu was messing with you. You're already this tall, so how could my pat make you shorter?"
"Hmm, that's true..." Eri nodded in realization.
"Pft-!" Kanao couldn't help but cover her mouth to hold her laughter.
"Don't laugh! Nao-chan! I'm going to be mad!" Eri blushed, waving her hands in frustration.
"Okay, okay..." Kanao stopped laughing, but Eri and Tenma could see a faint smile on her face.
"Bad Nao-chan!" Eri grumbled. She jumped at Kanao's back and bit her shoulder like a fierce cat.
Seeing this, Tenma shook his head and stared far into the ceiling. He can smell a disgusting smell above.
"Let's go."
"It seemed Shinobu was in trouble."
Kanao and Eri stopped joking with each other and nodded. They followed Tenma to the surface and entered a lush forest, frowning because a red light greets their eyes.
"This is..." Kanao's eyes widened.
"Not good!"
"Demonic Red Cocoon! Tenma-kun, we must warn the Demon Slayer Corps immediately and put a barrier to contain the contamination."
"Thank god, you guys are finally here!" Shinobu jumped from the tree branch, landing gently before them. "I have sent my crow to my sister and told her to seal the area around Ebisu Town."
"Any nearby demon slayers probably have evacuated the people in the nearby villages."
"What about the Demonic Red Cocoon?"
Shinobu smiled bitterly, "I can't break it with my strength. The cocoon is harder than steel."
"My Tao is also ineffective as it couldn't pierce through it."
Even though Shinobu's physical strength has exceeded the standard human limit due to Tenma's help, her focused combat ability is still to pierce through her enemy.
That's why her katana is more like a rapier now.
Tenma stared at the Demonic Red Cocoon and used the Transparent World, seeing through it.
He narrowed his eyes because the Transparent World allowed him to perceive other living beings as if they were transparent, like the inner workings of their bodies.
Most notably, Tenma can see the flow of blood, breathing, faint muscle contractions, and joint movements of the creature he was looking at.
However, this red cocoon is different.
The thing inside it is squirming blood, flesh, and bones!
Tenma closed his eyes a bit before activating Byakugan, causing veins to appear around his eyes. "I see..."
"A large amount of Blood Energy is gathered in the core of the Demonic Red Cocoon. Probably, the newly born general-level demon..."
"No wonder the massacre done by this demon recently has become too big to contain. They are using human remains to feed this cocoon."
"Then, can you break the cocoon, Nii-chan?" asked Eri.
Tenma shook his head gently, "It was too late."
"Watch."
BOOM!
A crimson light exploded and soared to the sky, creating a demonic pillar over fifteen meters tall. Many blood particles floated and approached the demonic pillar, forming three halos.
"Those blood particles..." Shinobu squinted her eyes. "They are coming from the demon we killed."
"We should have burned them…" Kanao murmured.
"It's no use to cry over spilled milk." Tenma pulled White Night from the inventory. "Prepare yourself. A big demon is coming."
ROOOOOOOOOOAAARRH!!
A blood-curdling scream echoed in the forest, shaking the surrounding trees violently.
