Shrek Academy
After a long journey, the Shrek Eight and Zhao Wujin returned safely to Shrek Academy.
In the small square of the academy, the headmaster, Flander, and Yu Xiaogang were there to welcome the Shrek Eight.
"Finally back!"
"It feels so comfortable in the human world!"
"After days of traveling, I can smell myself! I need to take a bath. Zhuqing, Xiao Wu, do you want to join me?"
After a brief exchange with Flander and Yu Xiaogang, the boys wanted to go back to sleep while the girls were eager to freshen up.
"Stop right there," Mu Chen said calmly.
The Shrek Seven halted in their tracks.
"You have one hour to rest. After one hour, Oscar, you will go find Teacher Zhao Wujin for physical training. Ning Rongrong, come to my room; I will handle your training. From now on, Ma Hongjun, you will recite the Heart Sutra of Prajna Paramita ten times every day. Additionally, Zhu Zhuqing, you must master the first three forms of the Wind God Leg within three months," Mu Chen instructed.
The first three forms of the Wind God Leg were Capture the Wind Shadow, Wind in the Grass, and Raging Storm.
"Boss Mu, come on! We just got back, can't I rest for a bit?"
Zhu Zhuqing was fine with Mu Chen's training, but the lazy Ma Hongjun protested.
"Three months from now, I will take you all into the City of Slaughter. So tell me, do you want to use this time to train?" Mu Chen asked.
"What?"
"The City of Slaughter?"
"The City of Slaughter?"
Among the Shrek Seven, only Ning Rongrong looked shocked! The others wore puzzled expressions. Flander and Yu Xiaogang also stared at Mu Chen in shock.
On the Douluo Continent, there were ten places known for their perilous nature. The City of Slaughter was ranked as the most dangerous among them.
"Mu Chen, that's not possible," Flander protested.
"What's so impossible about it?" Mu Chen countered.
"The City of Slaughter is the most dangerous place among the ten. Once you enter, there's no coming back unless you go through the Hell Road," Flander said with a frown.
"Dean, don't you want each of them to become a God of Death?" Mu Chen asked.
"Of course I do. But compared to having them achieve the God of Death's domain, I would rather not see them die in the City of Slaughter," Flander replied.
"With me here, who says they will die?" Mu Chen said lightly.
"Mu Chen, you may not understand the situation in the City of Slaughter. Although I have never been there, I have heard that more than ten thousand spirit masters have entered, but only two have come out as Gods of Death," Flander explained.
"Don't worry, Dean. I consider myself somewhat of a teacher to them, and they are somewhat my disciples. I won't let them die for nothing. The reason I want them to enter the City of Slaughter is because I have my means," Mu Chen said calmly.
"Means? What means?" Flander asked curiously.
"This!" Mu Chen touched his ring-shaped soul tool and flicked his fingers, pulling out a yellow cylinder.
"What is this?" Flander asked, intrigued.
"It's a smoke bomb," Mu Chen replied.
"A smoke bomb?" Flander repeated, puzzled.
"Yes. It's a peculiar item that, when thrown and impacted, produces smoke. Any enemy that comes into contact with the smoke will experience a brief period of dizziness. Dean, would you like to try it?" Mu Chen asked with a smile.
"Sure."
Flander did not refuse.
*Whoosh!*
With a wave of Mu Chen's hand, the smoke bomb was thrown at Flander's feet. A crisp sound erupted, and a cloud of green smoke suddenly burst forth.
Flander didn't dodge; as the smoke formed, he inhaled it into his body. His gaze became dazed as he shook his head, trying to wake himself up while channeling his soul power to dispel the smoke.
This process took five seconds before Flander finally regained his senses. Reflecting on his earlier experience, he felt somewhat swayed.
Though it was only a brief five seconds, that was enough time for a spirit master to take a life. With this item, it could indeed be worth a try.
"How was it?" Mu Chen asked, feeling proud.
"It's not enough. If I had been prepared and held my breath, I could have completely avoided the dizziness," Flander said.
"Don't worry, I have other things besides this. With these, the monsters of Shrek Academy will truly become monsters," Mu Chen added.
"What other things?" Flander inquired.
If they could traverse the Hell Road, they could gain the God of Death's domain. At that point, the students of Shrek Academy would truly be monsters.
"A type of hidden weapon. It can inflict severe damage at close range, maintaining its power within fifty meters, all made from iron essence. Even against a Soul King, it poses a threat to their life," Mu Chen explained.
"A hidden weapon that can threaten a Soul King? What is it called?" Flander asked, intrigued.
Could it be the Zhuge Crossbow?
Tang San thought to himself.
"Zhuge Crossbow," Mu Chen answered.
"Zhuge Crossbow? Can I see it?" Flander asked.
"Not right now. I don't have it with me. Before entering the City of Slaughter, I will ensure that each of them has at least two Zhuge Crossbows," Mu Chen glanced at Tang San. Though he didn't have a Zhuge Crossbow, Tang San did.
"This..." Flander felt his resolve wavering.
When Tang San joined Shrek Academy, he had used a hidden weapon once. Flander had witnessed the power of that hidden weapon. He had heard that soul techniques and soul power couldn't be used in the City of Slaughter. Thus, hidden weapons would indeed possess significant lethality there, granting the Shrek Eight strong self-defense capabilities.
"Additionally, besides the Zhuge Crossbow, I have the Hidden Back Flower Crossbow, Bone-Piercing Needles, Leg Crossbows, and Sky-Soaring Claws," Mu Chen continued.
"So many?" Flander exclaimed in surprise.
"The Hidden Back Flower Crossbow is controlled by the back muscles for launching. Although it only has one shot, due to the size of the bolt and the spring tension, its destructive power is among the strongest in hidden weapons. The Leg Crossbow is hidden in the legs. The Sky-Soaring Claw is extremely hard and can pierce through gold and stone. As for the Bone-Piercing and Bone-Piercing Needles, they can be used independently, striking when the enemy is unprepared," Mu Chen elaborated.
"Mu Chen, have you ever thought about opening a shop specializing in hidden weapons?" Flander's eyes sparkled, as if he saw piles of gold soul coins.
"Dean, I will equip them with a full set of these hidden weapons within three months. Now, do you still want to stop me from taking them into the City of Slaughter?" Mu Chen asked.
"How about you take me along too?" Flander proposed, tempted. Traversing the Hell Road could allow him to gain the God of Death's domain!
"Dean, you'll have to wait for another opportunity. The Continental Elite Soul Master Tournament is approaching. I don't have the time to craft so many hidden weapons. For safety's sake, each person entering the City of Slaughter must have sufficient ammunition, meaning hidden weapons," Mu Chen smiled.
"Alright. I suddenly realize that inviting you to our academy was the best decision I've ever made," Flander said, gazing at Mu Chen with fervor.
"Boss Mu, come over here; I have something to ask you," Tang San suddenly interjected after hearing Mu Chen mention so many Tang Sect hidden weapons.
