Leo and Octavia continued eating until the blonde looked at him with gleaming pink eyes and questioned, ''Do you think anyone survived the ambush?''

''No,'' he answered with a frown. ''The attack was so sudden that all the soldiers died instantly. Our flight back to the capital shouldn't take too long if I use more mana.''

The first princess smiled softly, the warmth of her expression lingering as they began eating in comfortable silence. Octavia, however, couldn't help but steal occasional glances, which made him smile.

'She wants to continue,' he mused with a chuckle.

By the time they finished their meal, night had fallen. Leo stood and stretched before heading toward the bed. ''Good night,'' he said, his tone casual but laced with a hint of concern. ''Make sure you get some rest. I have a feeling your father will want answers about the rebel attack tomorrow.''
