Location: The Base Camp, Northwest Training Ground
Qingming stood in the training area, wielding a short blade, engaged in a sparring match with Mizutani Seiko. The sound of metal clashing filled the air as she attacked relentlessly, but Qingming effortlessly parried each strike. The ease with which he handled her onslaught was striking.
After some time, Mizutani finally halted her attacks, visibly exhausted. Sweat soaked her clothes, and strands of hair clung to her forehead, making her look weary. Yet, her eyes burned with an unyielding determination.
Seeing her state, Qingming sighed internally, realizing that she was channeling all her regret into an intense desire to strengthen her abilities. If left unchecked, this obsession could lead to trouble.
However, Qingming refrained from offering any advice. After all, "no pain, no gain." In such a chaotic world, pushing oneself hard was often the only path to survival. Focusing entirely on strength was certainly better than wallowing in self-pity.
After a brief rest, Mizutani raised her kunai again, urging him, "Let's go again!"
Without a word, Qingming dashed forward, executing the Konoha-style sword technique fluidly. This time, the pressure on Mizutani intensified as he took the offensive. Within moments, she faltered, her kunai knocked from her grip, and Qingming's short sword rested against her throat.
Cold sweat trickled down her forehead as she involuntarily swallowed, knowing that Qingming wouldn't actually harm her, but the sensation of the blade at her throat still sent a chill through her.
Retracting his sword, Qingming glanced at the sky and, once Mizutani caught her breath, stated, "It's about time. Let's call it a day."
"Okay," she nodded, bending slightly to express gratitude, "Thank you, Qingming-kun!"
Qingming waved off her thanks. Although being her sparring partner took time and energy, he had intended to dedicate this time to practicing the Konoha-style sword technique. While training with Mizutani didn't provide the same benefits as sparring with Furukawa, who had since passed, it was still preferable to training alone.
Thus, he saw it as a mutually beneficial arrangement and felt no need for her gratitude. Still, he accepted it.
A Few Minutes Later
The two returned to the base camp. As they walked, a large group approached them, and Qingming suddenly halted, turning back to observe them.
"What's wrong?" Mizutani asked.
"Do you find them familiar?" Qingming replied.
Mizutani glanced back at the group and then back at him, confused. "It's such a small place; isn't it normal to see familiar faces?"
"No," Qingming shook his head seriously. "It's different. Didn't you notice that some of them were part of the team that replaced us at the town outpost?"
"What?" Mizutani exclaimed, her eyes widening. She turned back to search for them, but they had already disappeared.
Frowning, she asked, "Isn't the rotation once a month? It's only been ten days; why are they back early? Did something happen?"
As she spoke, memories of their recent harrowing experiences flickered in her eyes, revealing a deep-seated fear and unspeakable pain.
Qingming shook his head again, dismissing her concerns. "They don't appear to be in any major distress, so the likelihood of a crisis at the outpost is low."
"Then why are they back early?" she pressed.
Qingming pondered for a moment before shaking his head again. "I don't know. But still, we should be cautious over the next few days. Something feels off, and my instincts tell me something big is about to happen."
"Understood," Mizutani replied seriously, nodding her agreement.
They then parted ways, heading toward their respective tents.
Back in the Tent
Qingming consumed a few soldier rations to restore his stamina while reflecting on the events of the past few days. An irrational full-scale offensive followed by the sudden return of some replacement ninjas stirred an unsettling feeling within him.
His warning to Mizutani earlier had not been mere speculation; he genuinely sensed that a major event loomed on the horizon. Unfortunately, given his current rank, he lacked a broader perspective of the situation.
The only thing Qingming could do was to continue improving his strength.
"Status panel!"
With a thought, he opened his proficiency panel, and a light blue screen materialized before him.

Over the past few days, Qingming had focused primarily on practicing the Heart Reflection Technique, Konoha-style Sword Technique, and Phoenix Fire Technique. The impact of upgrading the Chakra Refinement Technique to lv4 had begun to show, as all three skills had seen significant improvement in just a few days.
Notably, his Heart Reflection Technique had seen a remarkable increase of 230 points in proficiency. This surge had also translated into a 46-point increase in the evolution of his Sharingan, progressing from (271/1000) to (317/1000), nearing one-third completion of the process.
If this pace continued, he could achieve the evolution of his Sharingan into the double tomoe form in about four months, given the current level of the Heart Reflection Technique.
In reality, he expected that in about a month and a half, the Heart Reflection Technique would upgrade. At that time, its enhancement to the Sharingan would become even more pronounced.
Thus, the time it would take for his Sharingan to evolve would likely be less than four months.
Reflecting on this, Qingming exhaled deeply. His efforts had not been in vain; everything was progressing according to his expectations.
Shifting his focus, he turned to the newly learned skill displayed in his skill panel—Healing Technique.
This was a medical ninjutsu he had only recently acquired. After learning it, he understood why there were so few medical ninjas in the shinobi world.
Aside from the need for extensive theoretical knowledge, the difficulty of the medical ninjutsu itself was quite high. For instance, the Healing Technique, though a basic medical ninjutsu, was classified as C-rank in difficulty.
Moreover, practicing this technique required extremely precise chakra control; otherwise, one would only scratch the surface.
These demanding conditions directly limited the number of medical ninjas available.
Fortunately, with his Chakra Control already at lv3 and assisted by the proficiency panel's principle of "you reap what you sow," he was able to learn the technique in just a few days.
For someone else, even a few months might not be enough to master it.
At this point, Qingming felt he had made significant progress toward his goal of becoming a versatile warrior, taking another step closer to that six-sided warrior ideal.
