"So, please explain why you did this?" Dumbledore's expression was very serious, but his tone was exceptionally calm.
Sensing a hint of disappointment in Dumbledore's voice, Harry suddenly felt uncomfortable. He couldn't dare to meet his eyes, so he lowered his head and recounted the entire story. When it came to the flying car, he mentioned only that he and Ron happened to encounter a flying car by the side of the road, omitting the fact that it belonged to Mr. Weasley.
Eisen observed that the three professors did not believe Harry's account; they had already seen through the façade. After Harry finished speaking, Dumbledore remained silent, staring at them calmly.
To be honest, none of this was a significant concern for Eisen. If other young wizards dared to fly around in the sky in enchanted cars and were discovered by Muggles, they might have to worry about expulsion. However, in Harry's case, Eisen felt there was no issue at all. After all, Harry was the savior—the one who truly saved the world. Even though Harry had been a baby at the time, there was no doubt that Voldemort had failed against him, allowing the British wizarding world to escape disaster.
This was precisely why Harry was so famous among wizards; anyone who knew the name Harry Potter felt as if they were encountering an idol. If he were to be expelled for flying in a car, the entire wizarding world would likely rise in revolt against Hogwarts. Although they might not physically confront it, such was the weight of the savior's legacy.
"Okay, let's go pack our things." The atmosphere was so tense that Ron finally couldn't help but speak, despair evident on his face.
"What are you talking about?" Professor McGonagall looked at him suspiciously.
"We're being expelled, aren't we?" Ron replied in a low tone, unable to fathom how to break the news to his family. How would he explain it? "Congratulations! We have the first expelled Gryffindor in the Weasley family!" Oh, they'd kill him.
Hearing Ron's words, Harry turned to Dumbledore anxiously, seemingly awaiting his next statement.
"Not today." Dumbledore shook his head. "I mean, you must understand the seriousness of the situation, Mr. Weasley. I will be writing to your family tonight. And I must tell you, if this happens again, I will have no choice but to expel you!"
Harry had hoped for a less severe punishment, but he didn't expect Dumbledore to approach it so leniently.
Finally, Snape couldn't help but interject: "Professor Dumbledore, these two students ignored the regulations restricting underage wizards' use of magic and caused significant damage to a valuable tree. Such actions warrant punishment."
"Well, Severus, let Professor McGonagall decide their punishment. They are Gryffindor students, and she should make that decision." Dumbledore interrupted Snape. "I believe I must return to the banquet; there are several announcements to make. Come on, Severus!"
Dumbledore gestured to Snape and then nodded at Eisen. It seemed this was for Harry and Ron to discuss solely with Professor McGonagall.
As Eisen sat in the professor's seat, he noticed that the sorting ceremony was over. Unsurprisingly, Ginny Weasley had also been sorted into Gryffindor. Since Harry and Ron were absent, Hermione and Ginny sat together, engrossed in conversation. When Hermione spotted Eisen taking the professor's seat, she nodded at him.
After Eisen returned the nod, he turned his attention to the professors' table. Indeed, with the start of the new school year, the position once held by Professor Quirrell had been filled by someone else—a young wizard in aqua-green robes, likely a few years older than Eisen but not yet thirty. This was clearly the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Gilderoy Lockhart.
To be fair, Professor Lockhart was quite handsome. While he wasn't much more attractive than Eisen himself, his slightly more mature demeanor and the perpetual smile on his face made him appear as a charming uncle, especially appealing to younger girls.
Eisen had felt a sense of novelty during his first opening ceremony, but that feeling faded after the second time.
"Hello, I heard from Hagrid that you are the Astronomy professor—Eisen Turner," came a voice, interrupting Eisen's thoughts. He frowned and turned to see the green-clad man sitting beside him.
"Oh, I'm Gilderoy Lockhart, Third Class of the Order of Merlin, Honorary Member of the Defense Against the Dark Arts, five-time winner of the Wizards Weekly Award for Most Charming Smile—but I never boast about that; I don't solve problems with a smile!" Lockhart introduced himself incessantly, seemingly feeling threatened by Eisen's good looks, all the while showcasing his trademark smile.
He then extended his hand to Eisen, as if expecting him to shake it with an adoring expression.
To be honest, Eisen was taken aback by Lockhart's approach at the opening ceremony. He thought that even if Lockhart were a fraudulent professor, he would still possess some situational awareness. However, Eisen soon realized that Lockhart was too dense for that and directly approached him to chat.
"Uh, hello, Professor Lockhart, welcome to Hogwarts!" Although Eisen initially hesitated, he had to shake hands with Lockhart.
However, as they shook hands, Eisen couldn't help but think, "You claim you never brag, so why do you constantly mention it when introducing yourself?" Looking at the smiling face before him, Eisen suddenly felt an urge to punch him.
"Okay, everyone, quiet down!" Dumbledore's voice brought immediate silence to the students at the table. "I want to introduce everyone to the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor—Professor Gilderoy Lockhart. Please give him a warm welcome!"
Lockhart, who had been about to pull Eisen into further conversation, immediately stood up from his seat at Dumbledore's announcement, showcasing his trademark smile.
"I, Gilderoy Lockhart, Third Class of the Order of Merlin, Honorary Member of the Defense Against the Dark Arts, five-time winner of the Wizards Weekly Award for Most Charming Smile—but I never boast about it; I don't smile to expel Wan Lun's female ghost!"
After speaking, Lockhart bent over in a very gentlemanly manner.
Eisen felt his eyelids twitching non-stop and experienced an overwhelming urge to escape. Looking at the other professors—especially Snape, whose face displayed evident disdain—he couldn't help but feel the situation was absurd.
Despite this, Lockhart's persona was perfect for attracting attention. After his self-introduction, many girls cheered. Although Hermione didn't seem to admire him as much as she had in the original story, she applauded enthusiastically.
On the other hand, many boys displayed expressions of disapproval. This was likely a result of same-sex repulsion.
After the opening ceremony concluded, Eisen returned to the dormitory to rest.
I hope your like the chapter 😊.
